This stunning composition uses the idea of the Igbo word 'Amara' which means 'grace.' The idea of this work is to breathe together - to be aware of others and how we fit together in this world. Highly artistic moving and quite challenging. The addition of an improvised saxophone adds an even greater level of artistry. Recording Choir: Missouri State University Chorale; Cameron F. Carl Wittrock's wide interest in global folk-music resulted in this concert-piec...(+)
Carl Wittrock's wide interest in global folk-music resulted in this concert-piece based on original African rhythms. Obviously the percussion section has a conspicious role to play but the band too may indulge itself in moments of thoroughly delightful excitement. The introduction depicts the awakening of nature and develops into a dance. The (main) motif of this dance is from a dance entitled Apollo and comes from Gambia. Its accompaniment consists of an ostinato pattern by balaphon-master Maudo Susa. The quiet middle movement is based on the rhythm of the 'gigbo' : a traditional dance from Ghana. In the final movement -which also bears a slight resemblanceto a theme from 'The Lion King'- the so-called 'Kono' rhythm is used. The work is played most advantageously using djembes. Challenge and please your percussion section with 'The African Connection'.

Par BARTOK BELA. 44 Duos' by Béla Bartók - the complete collection available for the first time in one edition for two celli. The '44 Duos' by Béla Bartók were written in 1931 and were originally included in a tutor for the violin, written by the teacher Erich Doflein (1900-1977). Since then they have become an indispensable key to the understanding of twentieth century music. Until now a version for two celli was limited to 18 selected duos.
The present edition for two celli is the first to include them all. The arrangements are based either on the possibility of a downwards transposition by an octave, or, where the original makes use of the violin's open E string, downwards by a twelfth.

• All of the Duos are available for the first time in one edition arranged for two celli by Hans Erik Deckert
• Provides aspiring cellists the chance to experience the musical partnership required by chamber music/ Répertoire / 2 Violoncelles
