Par KALLIWODA JOHANN WENZEL. Der böhmische Komponist Johann Wenzel Kalliwoda (1801-1866) spielte im deutschen Musikleben des zweiten Viertels des 19. Jahrhunderts eine bedeutende Rolle. Robert Schumann lobte seinen Kollegen, der von 1822 an bis zu seinem Tod als Hofkapellmeister in Donaueschingen wirkte, als einen 'grünen lebensfrischen Stamm im deutschen Musiker-Dichterwald'. Kalliwoda, der hauptsächlich symphonische und Kammermusik komponierte, schrieb auch zehn Messen. In der Messe für gemischten Chor a cappella in a-Moll zeigt sich Kalliwoda der Tradition katholischer Kirchenmusik verpflichtet und bedient sich gleichzeitig einer romantisch-gefühlvollen Musiksprache. / Messe / Répertoire / Choeur SATB
