Writing these arrangements, Frank Reinshagen has created little masterpieces, which broaden the rhythmical and harmonic context of the original tunes in an interesting manner without detracting from their archaic and melancholic character. These original tunes have been borrowed from the Irish, Scottish, and Gaelic musical tradition. These through-composed arrangements are rather easy to perform from the rhythmical and technical point of view. Yet, they are quite demanding in respect of the key they are written in, their intonation, and especially their interpretation. Their different instrumentations are fully compatible with each other and, due to their overall structure, they are also suitable to be played with multi-scored parts. The original of The Sons of Liberty is of a more recent date and goes back to the time when the King of England forced the Irish farmers' sons to go to war in America against their own fellow countrymen who were striving for freedom there. The arrangement conveys the impression of a vigorous forward motion created by a recurring and changing riff. Although it is written in a somewhat more difficult key (E minor), it is not too exacting from the technical point of view.

This three-movement work is a tribute to French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. The first movement depicts what is without a doubt Bartholdi’s most famous sculpture, the Statue of Liberty in New York, which also gives this piece its name. Next listeners get to experience the trumpeting angels, which can be seen atop the First Baptist Church in Boston. The final movement takes listeners to France to view the Lion of Belfort in France.

Dit driedelige concertwerk is een eerbetoon aan de Franse beeldhouwer Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. Het eerste deel geeft een beschrijving van het bekendste beeld van Bartholdi, het Vrijheidsbeeld in New York, dat ook zijn naam aandit werk gaf. Daarna volgt een muzikale weergave van het beeld van een engel met trompet die in Boston te bewonderen is. Tot slot schetst Jan de Haan de leeuw van Belfort in Frankrijk, een monumentaal beeld van 22 meter breed en 11meter hoog. Bij de onthulling van dit laatste beeld werd Liberty opgevoerd. Liberty: in één woord imposant!

Dieses dreiteilige Konzertwerk ist ein Tribut an den französischen Bildhauer Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. Der erste Satz beschreibt die wohl berühmteste Statue Bartholdis, die Freiheitsstatue in New York, die auch diesem Blasorchesterwerk seinen Namen gab. Danach folgt ein musikalisches Bild der Trompetenengel, die in Natura in Boston zu bestaunen sind, und zum Schluss der Löwe von Belfort in Frankreich, zu dessen Einweihung im November 2010 Liberty uraufgeführt wurde..

Liberté est une oeuvre de commande pour l’Orchestre d’Harmonie de la Ville de Belfort (France) en hommage au sculpteur Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. Le premier mouvement est consacré la Statue de la Liberté, située New York. Le second fait écho aux 4 Anges Trompettistes qui ornent le clocher d’une église de Boston (U.S.A.). Le dernier mouvement dépeint le monumental Lion de Belfort. La première mondiale de l’oeuvre a eu lieu en novembre 2010, lors de la cérémonie officielle inaugurant le Lion, cent trente ans après sa livraison par le sculpteur français.

Questo brano da concerto in tre parti è un tributo allo scultore francese Frédéric Auguste Batholdi. Il primo movimento descrive quella che è sicuramente l’opera più nota dell’artista: La Statua della Libert a New York. Segue un affresco dei Quattro Angeli Trombettisti che si può ammirare in una chiesa di Boston. Il terzo e ultimo movimento dipinge la monumentale scultura del Leone di Belfort in Francia, dove ha avuto luogo la prima del brano nel novembre 2010.

The traditional concert march Liberty, was composed in 2004 for the brass band Euphonia from Wolvega, the Netherlands. Your band will feel truly liberated with this lively composition.

Liberty is gecomponeerd in een traditionele marsvorm. Het eerste deel bevat naast een beweeglijk thema een aansprekende bassolo. Na de bassolo komt het eerste thema weer naar voren en wordt, na een krachtige afsluiting, hettrio ingeleid. Een lange, lyrische melodie in de tenorgroep laat vervolgens het publiek even achteroverleunen en genieten. Ze wordt echter bruusk onderbroken door een wilde fortissimopassage, gekenmerkt door een lange toonladderdie door het hele orkest heen loopt. Deze mondt uit in een welluidend Grandioso met een herhaling van de lyrische melodie, omspeeld in de discant, waarmee Liberty besluit.

In Liberty wird ein lebhaftes Thema im ersten Teil von einem anspruchsvollen Solo für den Bass und die gesamte Brass Band abgelöst. Nach dem Trio mit einer ausgesprochen lyrischen Melodie und heftigen Fortissimo-Passagen beendet ein reizvolles Grandioso dieses Stück, das in traditioneller Marschform geschrieben, aber alles andere als gewöhnlich ist.

Liberty est une marche contrastante de forme traditionnelle. La première partie développe un thème pétillant qui se fond dans un solo de basse solidement charpenté. Le trio, plus lyrique, expose quelques nouvelles idées formant un contraste marqué avec le passage d’ouverture. La musique s’enflamme pour un énoncé en fortissimo qui chemine travers l’ensemble de l’orchestre puis cède sa place un thème Grandioso, dernier épisode de l’œuvre.
