Or Organ-Born in Geneva of a jeweller father (and excellent flautist) and singer mother Marguerite Roesgen-Champion (1894-1976) was one of those rare women who reconciled family life (in 1926 she settled in Paris with her husband a philately merchant) with a professional activity devoted to music. Her abundant output graced all genres with a predilection for sacred pieces the art song the Piano and chamber music. Published respectively in 1950 and 1953 the two Nocturnes for Oboe and Piano (or Organ) have their place in the glorious tradition of French music from the between-the-wars period. The first Nocturne subtitled 'Noël' is dedicated to Pierre Bajeux(1899-1961) who taught the oboe class at the Paris Conservatoire as of 1941. Of classic ABA construction this piece as simple as it is expressive is in the form of a pastorale: here the gentle opening recitative unfolds its dreamy melancholic volutes of which the modal character would have appealed to Charles Koechlin. The second Nocturne presents subtle modulations that give it a refined elegance. In both cases this tastefully polished music invites us to stroll in an Arcadian landscape bathed in azure: 'There all is order and beauty / Luxury calm and voluptuousness'.

Suite op. 34 for Flute and Piano-The name Widor is so closely associated with music for the Organ that his many compositions for other instruments can easily be overlooked. The Suite for Flute and Piano presumably composed in1877 stands out amongst chamber music works on account of the wealth of expressive and tonal nuances. The late Romantic work is specially tailored to the possibilities of the Flute; and it is no accident that it wasdedicated to the most important French flautist and flute teacher of the time Paul Taffanel who gave its first performance in 1884. From the very beginning the four-movement Suite has been very popular and now belongs to thecore repertoire for Flute and Piano.

The music of small forms and of chamber-music instrumentations was to become the focus of the French composer Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924). In 1874, after many years spent in the provinces, the teacher of Camille Saint-Saëns took the position of organist in Paris; later he not only worked as a church musician but also as a teacher. In the summer of 1887 Fauré wrote his Pavane opus 50, originally intended for a concert providing light entertainment, which soon gained wide popularity as an orchestral setting without and with the chorus added by Fauré. The romantic, slightly melancholy melody is a catchy tune which, thanks to the present arrangement, can now also be performed soloistically with piano accompaniment.

for Woodwind Quintet-These two extraordinary works of late Mozart KV 594 and KV 608 were both composed to fulfill a commission for a memorial exhibit in Vienna to be played in a “mechanical clock organ.” The term “fantasy” or“fantasia” came to be affixed to these works later and is more descriptive and less cumbersome than the term Mozart listed in his own catalogue “Ein Stüke für ein Orgelwerk in ein Uhr.” They are also variouslytitled “Adagio und Allegro in f für ein Orgelwerk” and “Allegro und Andante (Fantasie in f) für eine Orgelwaltze.”The first of these composed between the monumental String Quintet in D and the Piano Concertoin Bb KV 595 is an A-B-A form comprised of an f minor Adagio opening and closing with a contrapuntal Allegro at its heart. KV 608 is more complicated opening with an f minor section reminiscent of a French Overture followed by a fugue in fminor then an Andante aria followed by a return to the opening and then a more complex version of the fugue.Despite the frustration that Mozart expressed (in a letter to Constanze) with the sound world of these mechanical devices KV 594and 608 are remarkable works which stand at an intersection incorporating what he learned about counterpoint studying at the foot of Bach while looking ahead to the emotional and harmonic poignancy of Schubert.

Roland C30 Digital Harpsichord including stool. Experience the elegance of baroque music. While producing authentically exquisite centuries-old harpsichord sounds and drawing inspiration from 21st century ingenuity the Roland Classic Series C30 Digital Harpsichord uses digital technology to enhance playability and expressiveness. Whether you are a virtuoso or a novice the C30 makes it possible for you to spend as much quality time as you want with the harpsichord. Taking up little space the styling of the C30 is modelled on the virginals. With an authentic wooden cabinet and a high-quality mahogany finish the traditional and simple styling will beright at home in a classic or modern interior. The period styling is enhanced by stained glass on the stand and the decorative panel on the keyboard lid. The C30 can easily switch between the built-in French and Flemish types of harpsichord. Both of these have four dispositions— 8’ I (back eight) 8’ II (front eight) 4’ (upper octave) and lute (buff mute) — and each disposition has its own dedicated selection button. You can play with a single disposition or layer more than one. The C30 also has an excellent fortepiano sound and has two admirable sampled organ options - 8' flute (ideal for solo accompaniment) and 8'+4' Principal which is ideal for use with a choir. The digital C30 doesn’t need tuning and you can simply switch the pitch from a=440 to baroque (415 Hz) and French baroque (392 Hz). If for ensemble playing you need to match the C30 to other instruments fine pitch adjustments can be made. You can easily take the C30 with you to group rehearsals and live performances. Even if the temperature and humidity vary you can be sure that the pitch will remain accurate. Time-consuming maintenance is a thing of the past. Now you can just turn on and play. As well as equal temperament you can select Werckmeister Kirnberger Vallotti and Meantone tuning

The first of the Two Pieces For Flute And Harp Or Piano Accompaniment “1. The Swans” is a lovely short piece composed by Henri Busser. Really melodious this piece is perfect to work on the flexibility of the tone and a good training to be able execute pieces more difficult. Written mainly in A key not often used by flautists and starting Andantino moderato the piece symbolizes the swans riding on a lake. It features an intro a main theme in [A] which comes back A tempo in [C] and a final Piú moderato finishing with a really high trill. Some difficulties such as the A key and the range usedon this piece will require an intermediate technique: difficulty is rated at 5°. This first piece is followed by the second one: “The squirrels”. Henri Busser (1872-1913) is a French classical composer and Organist. He was a professor at the Paris Conservatoire and a member of the Académie française.
