Chamber Music Alto (or Tenor) Saxophone & Piano SKU: PO.PE007 Composed by Matthew Hindson. Sws. Score and parts. Composed 1997. Promethean Editions #PE007. Published by Promethean Editions (PO.PE007). ISBN 9780958367967. Hindson's In Search of Ecstasy (1997) is a flamboyant work for solo saxophone and piano that showcases the highly appealing range of saxophone sounds. In writing this work, Hindson drew influence from popular music, in particular the incessant beat of techno music, which makes it a particularly energetic work. In Search of Ecstasy also contains free time sections allowing for some open performance interpretation. $45.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

Composed by Cesar Auguste Franck. Edited by Hans Christoph Becker-Foss, Thomas Ohlendorf. Carus plus: Innovative practice aids. Innovative practice aids. Full Score. Composed 1869-1879. Duration 125 minutes. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.1039300). ISBN 9790007253776. French. Text: Colomb, Josephine. Cesar Franck (1822-1890) is now regarded as one of the most important French composers and organists of his time. Les Beatitudes, his monumental oratorio setting the text from Jesus's Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5,3ff.), is regarded as his most important work and is on an equal footing with the great oratorios of the 19th century. But Franck himself did not live to hear the extremely successful first performance in summer 1891.
Through its symmetrical dramatic structure, the work conveys the idea of a great arch. A short prologue is followed by eight movements in which the words of Christ are contrasted with earthly scenes. The choir has an important role as commentator on the events. The conclusion of the work is an overwhelming hymn - the entry into paradise.
With this Carus edition, the Beatitudes is published in a modern, thoroughly-researched Urtext edition for the first time. The orchestral scoring is typical of the French orchestra of the time. Both the number of soloists and the size of choir required can be reduced by skilful allocation of the roles. The score offers many practical performance suggestions, based on the editor's own experience in trying these out. A new vocal score, prepared with ease of playability in mind, replaces the historic reprint edition previously available from Carus. Ambitious amateur choirs can also perform this magnificent work. $158.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

ATB vocal soli, SATB choir, orchestra SKU: CA.3113600 Cantata for the 8th Sunday after Trinity. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Christiane Hausmann. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Trinity. Full score. Composed 1723. BWV 136. 36 pages. Duration 22 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.136/00. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3113600). ISBN 9790007171636. Language: German/English. Translation: Henry Drinker. Scripture: Matthew 7:15-23. The cantata Erforsche mich Gott und erfahre mein Herz BWV 136 was composed in Bach's first year as Kantor of St. Thomas's in Leipzig and was first performed on the 8th Sunday after Trinity, the 18th July 1723. The librettist is unknown. The title of the cantata is taken from verse 23 of Psalm 139: Erforsche mich Gott und erfahre mein Herz; prufe mich und erfahre, wie ich's meine. (Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts) The opening chorus forms an extended fugue, framed by string writing bursting with energy. The obbligato horn accentuates and enriches the movement with a special tonal color. The alto aria in F sharp minor (movement 3) comprises a trio movement with an oboe d'amore as solo instrument in a contrasting range - a presto middle section which dramatically charges the words Denn seines Eifers Grimm vernichtet (For the fury of its zeal will destroy). In the duet (movement 5) the text is sung by tenor and bass line by line, sometimes imitating contrapuntally, and sometimes both singing together dramatically in homophonic writing. A simple chorale setting to the melody Auf meinen lieben Gott concludes the cantata. Particularly charming here is the violin which joins the four vocal parts as an independent part. $33.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Orchestra SKU: AP.12-0571539440 Composed by Colin Matthews. Full Orchestra; Masterworks; Performance Music Ensemble; Single Titles. Faber Edition. 20th Century; Masterwork. Score. Faber Music #12-0571539440. Published by Faber Music (AP.12-0571539440). ISBN 9780571539444. English. Colin Matthews's Turning Point (2006) represents a bold stylistic breakthrough for its composer. Out of a whirring, motoric scherzo comes a jolting sea change: an austere, glacial string chorale of searing intensity that, with gritty resilience, gradually comes to overwhelm everything else. Commissioned by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, this 25-minute journey from complex momentum to expressive simplicity displays all the ingenious craft we have come to expect from Matthews, together with a new-found emotional directness. $48.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks
