UPC: 797242895593. 6.75x10.5x0.36 inches. The span and scope of the Christmas Story is in stark contrast to the rather sparse information offered to us in the narrative of the New Testament. What we do have is a timeless and mystifying mosaic of events that reshaped the course of human history. This is the chronicle of events that could never pass the scrutiny of human invention and imagination. It remains impossible to imagine the unthinkable. This is a story so profound that it demands to be shrouded in simplicity - so breathtaking that it requires some space just to comprehend the intent, let alone the reality - so unbelievable that it must be anchored in truth. This is a story that is Divine in origin and Eternal in design. This is the story of God in Heaven who loved the world so much that He sent His Son, that whoever believed in Him and the sacrifice that He would make, would never perish, but would have eternal life. Only God could make that promise, Only Christ could pay that price, Only Love could write this story. $15.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

Come close and listen to a story that will change your life. A great conflict is about to be decided. This conflict has been gaining momentum since the foundation of the world and nothing can stop this war. Battle lines are being drawn that will determine the fate of the world. On one side stands the Almighty and all of the hosts of Heaven, on the other the enemy and all of the legions of hell. And in the middle -- in the very epicenter of the vicious battle -- there hangs a lone figure on a wooden structure that is stained with blood. This forsaken and condemned man has the appearance of a beaten and broken beggar. But make no mistake, He is a King. His blood is royal beyond comprehension. He knows what is at stake. He knows what is required, He knows the pain and suffering a full and irrevocable victory will cost. This is the account of events that sound like legend, that stretch the imagination beyond reason. Yet all that you will hear is absolutely and eternally true. Come close and listen to a story that occurred long ago, in a far off land, once upon a cross. $15.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

Theodore Presser Company #465-00013L. Published by Theodore Presser Company (PR.46500013L). UPC: 680160600151. 11 x 14 inches. I n 1803, President Thomas Jefferson sent Meriwether Lewis and William Clarks Corps of Discovery to find a water route to the Pacific and explore the uncharted West. He believed woolly mammoths, erupting volcanoes, and mountains of pure salt awaited them. What they found was no less mind-boggling: some 300 species unknown to science, nearly 50 Indian tribes, and the Rockies. I have been a student of the Lewis and Clark expedition, which Thomas Jefferson called the Voyage of Discovery, for as long as I can remember. This astonishing journey, lasting more than two-and-a-half years, began and ended in St. Louis, Missouri and took the travelers up more than a few rivers in their quest to find the Northwest Passage to the Pacific Ocean. In an age without speedy communication, this was akin to space travel out of radio range in our own time: no one knew if, indeed, the party had even survived the voyage for more than a year. Most of them were soldiers. A few were French-Canadian voyageurs hired trappers and explorers, who were fluent in French (spoken extensively in the region, due to earlier explorers from France) and in some of the Indian languages they might encounter. One of the voyageurs, a man named Pierre Cruzatte, also happened to be a better-than-average fiddle player. In many respects, the travelers were completely on their own for supplies and survival, yet, incredibly, only one of them died during the voyage. Jefferson had outfitted them with food, weapons, medicine, and clothing and along with other trinkets, a box of 200 jaw harps to be used in trading with the Indians. Their trip was long, perilous to the point of near catastrophe, and arduous. The dream of a Northwest Passage proved ephemeral, but the northwestern quarter of the continent had finally been explored, mapped, and described to an anxious world. When the party returned to St. Louis in 1806, and with the Louisiana Purchase now part of the United States, they were greeted as national heroes. I have written a sizeable number of works for wind ensemble that draw their inspiration from the monumental spaces found in the American West. Four of them (Arches, The Yellowstone Fires, Glacier, and Zion) take their names, and in large part their being, from actual national parks in Utah, Wyoming, and Montana. But Upriver, although it found its voice (and its finale) in the magnificent Columbia Gorge in Oregon, is about a much larger region. This piece, like its brother works about the national parks, doesnt try to tell a story. Instead, it captures the flavor of a certain time, and of a grand adventure. Cast in one continuous movement and lasting close to fourteen minutes, the piece falls into several subsections, each with its own heading: The Dream (in which Jeffersons vision of a vast expanse of western land is opened); The Promise, a chorale that re-appears several times in the course of the piece and represents the seriousness of the presidential mission; The River; The Voyageurs; The River II ; Death and Disappointment; Return to the Voyage; and The River III . The music includes several quoted melodies, one of which is familiar to everyone as the ultimate river song, and which becomes the through-stream of the work. All of the quoted tunes were either sung by the men on the voyage, or played by Cruzattes fiddle. From various journals and diaries, we know the men found enjoyment and solace in music, and almost every night encampment had at least a bit of music in it. In addition to Cruzatte, there were two other members of the party who played the fiddle, and others made do with singing, or playing upon sticks, bones, the ever-present jaw harps, and boat horns. From Lewis journals, I found all the tunes used in Upriver: Shenandoah (still popular after more than 200 years), Vla bon vent, Soldiers Joy, Johnny Has Gone for a Soldier, Come Ye Sinners Poor and Needy (a hymn sung to the tune Beech Spring) and Fishers Hornpipe. The work follows an emotional journey: not necessarily step-by-step with the Voyage of Discovery heroes, but a kind of grand arch. Beginning in the mists of history and myth, traversing peaks and valleys both real and emotional (and a solemn funeral scene), finding help from native people, and recalling their zeal upon finding the one great river that will, in fact, take them to the Pacific. When the men finally roar through the Columbia Gorge in their boats (a feat that even the Indians had not attempted), the magnificent river combines its theme with the chorale of Jeffersons Promise. The Dream is fulfilled: not quite the one Jefferson had imagined (there is no navigable water passage from the Missouri to the Pacific), but the dream of a continental destiny. $80.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 4 SKU: BT.DHP-1084674-140 Contes et Légendes de Savoie. Composed by Maxime Aulio. Concert and Contest Collection CBHA. Concert Piece. Score Only. Composed 2009. 24 pages. De Haske Publications #DHP 1084674-140. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1084674-140). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. Maxime Aulio was so enthralled by Monique de Huetras’ book Contes et légendes de Savoie, which contains tales and legends from the depths of the earth to the tops of the mountains, that he had to translate it into music. Music presents the perfect medium to add colour to the stories and life to the characters. Like voices from the past The Bilberry Fairy and the Chamois, The Magic Stick and The Lady from Val de Fier all appear for a while, and time stands still as you are told The Legend of Duvallon.
$42.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

William Blake was a highly versatile universal genius - poet, painter, copper engraver and philosopher - who in the face of the rationally based Enlightenment put the worship of ecstasy, energy, intuition and imagination above all reason. He was inspired by a vision of the prophet Ezekiel as a child and went on to construct a creative cosmos consisting of myths, opposing forces and uninhibited psychic painting. Misunderstood by his contemporaries, he only began to be rediscovered at the beginning of the twentieth century, for example by W. B. Yeats, and subsequently also during the 1960s by various figures including the 'beat poets' associated with Allen Ginsberg, filmmakers and numerous modern poets. Although the organ clearly represents the centre of the musical action in Jean Guillou's Concerto No. 5 'Le Roi Arthur', the accompanying brass quintet has an important role. Like the noble knights at the legendary Round Table of King Arthur, horn, trumpet, fluegelhorn, trombone and tuba group themselves musically around the 'King of the Instruments'. In the brass sound, both soft and dynamic, they lay the harmonic foundation, with the music written for them developing into fanfare-like figures. They always make a caesura when the organ is about to play its imaginative and virtuoso sound passages.Precision and technical assurance are required to orchestrate this picturesque sound puzzle effectively from a seemingly mythical time. $75.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

(Flute/Piano) SKU: HL.48186476 Composed by Eric Ledeuil. Leduc. 16 pages. Alphonse Leduc #AL30740. Published by Alphonse Leduc (HL.48186476). Teacher, soloist, chamber musician, conductor and composer ? flautist Eric Ledeuil, a student of Patrick Gallois and Benoit Fromanger, wears many hats. This diversity continually enriches his educational work, as can be seen by the success of his flute method La flute imaginative, published by Leduc in two volumes (AL 30 365 and 30 367). Fete a Camelot, a piece for flute and piano (or harp) for fourth-year students, reconnects with the Knights of the Round Table, an imaginary world that has long been a source of musical inspiration for Ledeuil: the key figures of the legend appear in his Les Meandres de Viviane (AL 30 495, Beginner) and Les Mysteres de Broceliande (AL 29 589, Intermediate). This work is set in King Arthur?s fortress: the great halls ring out with the sounds of joyful festivities, interspersed with echoes of Viviane?s song. A Knight?s story of his quest for the Holy Grail is followed by the furtive appearance of Morgan le Fay, but she gives way to the Lady of the Lake ? Viviane ? whose distant melody shrouds itself in melancholy tones. The work concludes with a fisel, a traditional Breton dance that whips the troubadours? enchanted instruments into a frenzy.. $14.20 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
| Syrinx for Unaccompanied Tuba or Bass Trombone - Advanced Cherry Classics
Unaccompanied tuba or bass trombone - advanced SKU: CY.CC2924 Composed by...(+)
Unaccompanied tuba or bass trombone - advanced SKU: CY.CC2924 Composed by Claude Debussy. Arranged by Ralph Sauer. French impressionist. Booklet. Published by Cherry Classics (CY.CC2924). Debussy composed this breathtaking unaccompanied work in 1913, and it became the first solo work for the Böhm flute and the first solo work by a major composer since C.P.E. Bach almost 150 years earlier.
The music allows wide latitude for interpretation and can really show off the musical imagination of the performer.
The great French flautist Marcel Moyse is credited with adding phrasing and barlines to his friend Debussy's new work.
In classical mythology, Syrinx was a nymph and a follower of Artemis, known for her chastity. Pursued by the amorous Greek god Pan, she ran to a river's edge and asked for assistance from the river nymphs. In answer, she was transformed into hollow water reeds that made a haunting sound when the god's frustrated breath blew across them. Pan cut the reeds to fashion the first set of pan pipes, which were thereafter known as Syrinx.
This work of 2 1/2 minutes for advanced performers can add a new dimension to your recital, as it is often performed offstage.
The sample performance was recorded by Ralph Sauer in May 2012. $15.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

| Deadly Pleasures Set Of Parts For Narrator And Instrumentalensemble Schott
Saxophone, trumpet, piano, violin and amplified narrator (Voice And Ensemble) (+)
Saxophone, trumpet, piano, violin and amplified narrator (Voice And Ensemble) SKU: HL.49043955 For narrator and instrumental ensemble. Composed by John Casken. This edition: Folder. Sheet music. Ensemble. Softcover. Composed 2009. 122 pages. Duration 25'. Schott Music #ED13530-10. Published by Schott Music (HL.49043955). ISBN 9790220134555. 9.25x12.0x0.339 inches. English. The title Deadly Pleasures was suggested by the content of DM Thomas's dramatic poem on an imagined episode in the life of Cleopatra. Cleopatra offers any three men from her royal court a night of unbridled passion, in return for which they must forfeit their lives the next morning. Three men step forward, the last of which is the son she had by her brother Ptolemy, whom she gave away at birth. Unaware that Cleopatra is his mother, he gives her wine laced with mandragora and makes his escape before daybreak. The grisly tale provided the composer many opportunities for dramatic characterisation. The use of a narrator necessitated an episodic structure in which the music captures the atmosphere suggested by the text, and mirrors the different moods as the journey unfolds and the three characters live out their different fates. $64.00 - See more - Buy online
