Présentation Ces vocalises sont faites pour trouver la virtuosité de sa voix, et sa fluidité dans une écriture d'aujourd'hui. Vous y trouverez quelques fondamentaux comme les grands intervalles, la longue tessiture, pour toutes les voix, le chromatisme, le tempo rapide vocalisé, les slanci ou glissati, les quarts de tons, les nuances ainsi que les tenuti pianissimi ou encore le decrescendo finissant sur un fil di voce. La valeur ajoutée sur le plan rythmique habituera le chanteur à combiner les textes sur une pulsation interne permanente malgré l'exécution de la mélodie étudiée. Les tenuti ouvriront l'imaginaire du chanteur en y plaçant le texte, ad libitum. Les respirations inaudibles pour certains textes - proches de la mélodie ou du récitatif - côtoieront quelques inspirations et expirations audibles, ou sons-bruits fantômes. J'accorde beaucoup d'importance à l'articulation du texte en bouche, et à la place des lèvres dans l'acoustique du son. En effet, le chanteur transporte son propre théâtre à l'italienne partout et son palais devient alors le fin connaisseur de la place des aigus et sur-aigus. Le chanteur est un gourmet de sa bouche et de tout son appareil phonatoire et respiratoire. Le sprechgesang aura une large part dans ces vocalises. Quelques nouvelles idées d'écritures apparaissent comme celles des agrégats ou arpèges, les pleurs, les rires, la main devant la bouche, le rauco, les sons soufflés, le bruit des lèvres, la langue sortie roulée sur la lèvre supérieure, les claquements de langue, le vibrato glottique. La présence du chanteur sera indispensable pour donner du sens aux textes empruntés au répertoire des opéras classiques choisis. Ces Airs connus par coeur par chaque chanteur, que ce soit Carmen, Adolar, Méphistophélès, Mab, Pédrillo, Marina, Anna Bolena, Lucrezia, Philippe II, Urbain, La Reine de la nuit, Vulcain, Sarastro ou Erda, pour n'en citer que quelques-uns, glisseront peu à peu dans des traitements - stylistiques et vocaux - déformés par tout ce que j'ai cité plus haut : à savoir que la virtuosité prend le pas sur la texture du texte et de la voix : des phonèmes en lien avec la compréhension du texte, ou non, agrémenteront la réactivité du chanteur, vers une attitude ludique, inventive et drôle, bien que précise et technique. La sûreté des attaques sera appréciée, comme l'apprentissage des différents effets vocaux (une vingtaine, en tout) et de leurs cryptogrammes respectifs. Si cette collection s'adresse à des chanteurs expérimentés et sûrs de leur technique globale, elle provoquera certainement des prises de conscience sur le couple voix et répertoire, peu évident à mettre en place chez de jeunes artistes, appelés à mûrir, à expérimenter, donc à évoluer dans leur répertoire, et leur confort d'émission. La beauté de l'instrument est indispensable pour défendre le cadre scénique de chaque vocalise : j'invite les jeunes chanteurs à croiser la voix, sa technique avec le jeu, l'amusement et sa virtuosité. La soif et le bonheur de chanter se mesureront à la discipline de l'apprentissage. Jeunes artistes doués et patients, devenez ces êtres-bouches à la fois chanteurs-conteurs-hypnotiseurs et connaisseurs alchimiques du pouvoir colossal de la voix humaine. Ouvrez vos cerveaux et vos bouches : le monde vous réclame ! De la même façon que pour toutes les autres tessitures, j'ai écrit 10 vocalises pour ces différentes catégories de Barytons et de Basses. Si le sens de l'humour permet de distancier la difficulté de l'écriture empruntée aux compositeurs contemporains, j'ai voulu donner à ces voix d'hommes - souvent trop cadrées dans la sériosité du propos - une évasion stylistique et légère, parfois émotionnelle non contenue, afin d'ouvrir une fenêtre vers la liberté et le ressenti non pudique des mots ou des textes choisis. Transcription pour alto et piano par Bruno Monsaingeon et Antoine Joly On ne saurait affirmer que le répertoire original de concert de l'alto, en tant qu'instrument soliste, soit richement pourvu en chefs-d'oeuvre. Au mieux, et encore si on inclut les sonates de Brahms, elles-mêmes transcrites de la clarinette, deux programmes de récital et on a fait le tour de la question. Avec le présent recueil, nous n'avons d'autre ambition que de contribuer à élargir cet éventail. Les six sonates - dites en trio - pour orgue de Johann Sebastian Bach, figurent parmi les oeuvres les plus rigoureuses du compositeur. A l'inverse d'autres compositions pour orgue de Bach, ses grandes Fantaisies et Toccatas, dans lesquelles abondent de luxuriantes formules virtuoses de nature indubitablement instrumentale, les sonates relèvent d'une stricte écriture à trois voix, sans que jamais le moindre ajout harmonique, la moindre tentation exhibitionniste, viennent troubler leur parfaite pureté polyphonique. Il nous est apparu que leur facture fondamentalement a-instrumentale était telle que ces sonates se prêtaient sans doute mieux que toutes autres à la transcription. De surcroît, il était clair qu'il existait une évidente adéquation entre leur écriture et celle destinée à un instrument à archet, et que la vocalité intensément expressive de leurs mouvements lents, comme la sobre alacrité de leurs mouvements rapides, conviendraient à merveille aux couleurs sonores très spécifiques de l'alto. Restait à faire en sorte que la transcription pour cet instrument crée l'illusion qu'elles avaient été originellement conçues pour lui. A cet égard, deux types de problèmes étaient à résoudre. Le choix des tonalités. Bach lui-même, lorsqu'il adaptait pour le clavier ses concertos originellement écrits pour le violon, recourait toujours à un changement de tonalité, en transposant systématiquement ces oeuvres d'un ton vers le bas. Passer du clavier de l'orgue à l'alto requérait de procéder à un traitement analogue, pour faire en sorte que l'instrument à cordes soit exposé dans le registre qui lui serait le plus favorable, tout en tenant compte de ses propres limites. Dans notre recherche des tonalités les mieux adaptées à chacune des sonates, nous avons été guidés par le souci de contourner deux écueils celui qui contraindrait l'alto à jouer dans un registre trop aigu, où sa sonorité a tendance à se faire claironnante - et à éviter parallèlement de l'emmener trop souvent vers son registre grave, magnifique pour les notes tenues et chantantes, mais qui sied mal aux notes rapides, telles que les doubles croches, dont les Allegros de Bach font une allègre consommation. Du fait de l'épaisseur des cordes graves de l'alto, leur émission y est quelque peu confuse, et elles y prennent presque inévitablement une sonorité pelucheuse qui rend l'équilibre acoustique de la souveraine polyphonie de Bach peu perceptible. C'est ainsi qu'après bien des essais et tâtonnements, nous sommes arrêtés aux transpositions suivantes: de Mi bémol majeur à Sol majeur pour la 1e sonate, d'Ut mineur à Sol mineur pour la 2e, de Mi mineur à Ré mineur pour la 3e, et ainsi de suite. Dans l'édition, nous indiquons à chaque fois la tonalité d'origine. Pour finaliser nos choix, nous avons d'ailleurs dû jouer avec un paramètre supplémentaire, car il va sans dire qu'une fois décidée la tonalité d'ensemble de telle ou telle sonate, nous nous sommes fixé pour règle de respecter les relations de tonalité adoptées par Bach entre les mouvements rapides et lents de ses oeuvres. La distribution des voix entre les deux instruments. Bach ayant naturellement réparti les deux voix de 'dessus' et la voix de basse de ses sonates entre les deux mains et le pédalier de l'organiste, la solution qui apparaissait à première vue s'imposer pour notre transcription, consistait à attribuer la voix supérieure à l'alto, tandis que les deux mains de l'instrument à clavier se chargeraient de la voix médiane et de la basse. Et de fait, c'est ainsi que nous procédâmes pour l'essentiel. Néanmoins, en de nombreuses occasions, nous avons jugé bon de faire exception à ce principe trop simple. Deux types de raisons nous ont ainsi conduits à recourir ici ou là à une redistribution des parties d'un instrument à l'autre. Le souci là encore de ne jamais placer l'alto dans une tessiture extrême, et surtout d'éviter d'aboutir à une confusion des entrées et des réponses fuguées. Ce faisant, nous croyons être parvenus par la même occasion à créer des échanges d'une grande vitalité entre les deux instruments. En publiant ici le résultat du travail prodigieusement stimulant qui fut le nôtre - accompagné de propositions de coups d'archet soigneusement étudiées (mais évidemment révisables selon les choix interprétatifs de chacun), destinées à en rendre clairs le phrasé, l'expression et la facture - nous avons la conviction de pourvoir à l'enrichissement du répertoire des altistes sous la forme de six chefs-d'oeuvre de tout premier ordre, sans que la transcription les ait d'aucune manière dénaturés. Nous sommes également persuadés que le soi-disant 'parent pauvre' de la famille des cordes ne le cédera en rien au 'roi des instruments' dans l'expression du sublime lyrisme constamment présent dans ces oeuvres de Johann Sebastian Bach. / classique / Répertoire / Alto et Piano

La préoccupation qui fut la mienne concernant les voix de contre-ténors et hautes-contre est de montrer l'exceptionnelle capacité de ces voix, autant esthétiques que techniques, voire pyrotechniques. Je reste frappée par la curiosité doublée du sens du risque que possède la plupart de ces artistes, avec un A majuscule. En effet, pour chanter de la musique d'aujourd'hui, le contre-ténor et la haute-contre doivent être des excellents émetteurs de sons classiques avec tout l'éventail des non vibrati et des ornements baroques avec, en plus, une soif de gourmets vocaux. Seules cette soif, cette vivacité d'esprit et cette prise de risque ouvriront la voie aux effets vocaux précis, au service de la dramaturgie sonore, sans geste. C'est pourquoi j'ai écrit des textes où la voix chante en solo, sans accompagnement. La voix est seule à bord, suave peut-être, mais technique, sûre et exigeant une grande présence. Présentation Ces vocalises sont faites pour trouver la virtuosité de sa voix, et sa fluidité dans une écriture d'aujourd'hui. Vous y trouverez quelques fondamentaux comme les grands intervalles, la longue tessiture, pour toutes les voix, le chromatisme, le tempo rapide vocalisé, les slanci ou glissati, les quarts de tons, les nuances ainsi que les tenuti pianissimi ou encore le decrescendo finissant sur un fil di voce. La valeur ajoutée sur le plan rythmique habituera le chanteur à combiner les textes sur une pulsation interne permanente malgré l'exécution de la mélodie étudiée. Les tenuti ouvriront l'imaginaire du chanteur en y plaçant le texte, ad libitum. Les respirations inaudibles pour certains textes - proches de la mélodie ou du récitatif - côtoieront quelques inspirations et expirations audibles, ou sons-bruits fantômes. J'accorde beaucoup d'importance à l'articulation du texte en bouche, et à la place des lèvres dans l'acoustique du son. En effet, le chanteur transporte son propre théâtre à l'italienne partout et son palais devient alors le fin connaisseur de la place des aigus et sur-aigus. Le chanteur est un gourmet de sa bouche et de tout son appareil phonatoire et respiratoire. Le sprechgesang aura une large part dans ces vocalises. Quelques nouvelles idées d'écritures apparaissent comme celles des agrégats ou arpèges, les pleurs, les rires, la main devant la bouche, le rauco, les sons soufflés, le bruit des lèvres, la langue sortie roulée sur la lèvre supérieure, les claquements de langue, le vibrato glottique. La présence du chanteur sera indispensable pour donner du sens aux textes empruntés au répertoire des opéras classiques choisis. Ces Airs connus par coeur par chaque chanteur, que ce soit Carmen, Adolar, Méphistophélès, Mab, Pédrillo, Marina, Anna Bolena, Lucrezia, Philippe II, Urbain, La Reine de la nuit, Vulcain, Sarastro ou Erda, pour n'en citer que quelques-uns, glisseront peu à peu dans des traitements - stylistiques et vocaux - déformés par tout ce que j'ai cité plus haut : à savoir que la virtuosité prend le pas sur la texture du texte et de la voix : des phonèmes en lien avec la compréhension du texte, ou non, agrémenteront la réactivité du chanteur, vers une attitude ludique, inventive et drôle, bien que précise et technique. La sûreté des attaques sera appréciée, comme l'apprentissage des différents effets vocaux (une vingtaine, en tout) et de leurs cryptogrammes respectifs. Si cette collection s'adresse à des chanteurs expérimentés et sûrs de leur technique globale, elle provoquera certainement des prises de conscience sur le couple voix et répertoire, peu évident à mettre en place chez de jeunes artistes, appelés à mûrir, à expérimenter, donc à évoluer dans leur répertoire, et leur confort d'émission. La beauté de l'instrument est indispensable pour défendre le cadre scénique de chaque vocalise : j'invite les jeunes chanteurs à croiser la voix, sa technique avec le jeu, l'amusement et sa virtuosité. La soif et le bonheur de chanter se mesureront à la discipline de l'apprentissage. Jeunes artistes doués et patients, devenez ces êtres-bouches à la fois chanteurs-conteurs-hypnotiseurs et connaisseurs alchimiques du pouvoir colossal de la voix humaine. Ouvrez vos cerveaux et vos bouches : le monde vous réclame ! La préoccupation qui fut la mienne concernant les voix de contre-ténors et hautes-contre est de montrer l'exceptionnelle capacité de ces voix, autant esthétiques que techniques, voire pyrotechniques. Je reste frappée par la curiosité doublée du sens du risque que possède la plupart de ces artistes, avec un A majuscule. En effet, pour chanter de la musique d'aujourd'hui, le contre-ténor et la haute-contre doivent être des excellents émetteurs de sons classiques avec tout l'éventail des non vibrati et des ornements baroques avec, en plus, une soif de gourmets vocaux. Seules cette soif, cette vivacité d'esprit et cette prise de risque ouvriront la voie aux effets vocaux précis, au service de la dramaturgie sonore, sans geste. C'est pourquoi j'ai écrit des textes où la voix chante en solo, sans accompagnement. La voix est seule à bord, suave peut-être, mais technique, sûre et exigeant une grande présence. Ils apparaissent aujourd'hui comme une référence absolue, un condensé historique et projection de l'avenir. Les exemples précis faciliteront la progression des 'apprentis', dans la plus grande clarté et la plus indispensable nécessité. Jean-Pierre Grau offre au monde des guitaristes leur fondamentale bible aux ramifications essentielles. Daniel Tosi La plupart des musiciens entretiennent une relation ambiguë à l'instrument, mêlée d'exaltation, mais aussi d'appréhension et de frustration. Ils doivent rendre la qualité, l'énergie et la justesse d'une oeuvre tout en cherchant le plaisir d'être en profonde unité avec l'instrument, le bonheur de l'ouverture à l'émotion sans barrières physiques. C'est le travail mené auprès de mes élèves qui a été le moteur constant de mes recherches vers une voie de réalisation, une démarche uniquement instinctive au départ, mais qui a évolué avec le temps vers une volonté en conscience de changement et d'amélioration : que faire pour aller plus loin, se révéler à soi-même ? Cette méthode de technique instrumentale allie les bases classiques (gammes, extensions, accords...), quelques axes de travail digital peu ou jamais traités (passage de corde, déplacements main droite, gammes à trois doigts main droite, coordination des deux mains...) à des exercices de travail corporel pour diminuer voire supprimer les tensions du musicien et aller plus loin dans l'expression instrumentale. Le corps est l'aboutissement de l'émotion. Il témoigne du bonheur et de l'exaltation du jeu. Pourquoi accepter la souffrance physique, le mal de dos ? Ces deux recueils prendront toute leur signification quand ils seront liés à une recherche constante et consciente de décontraction et d'équilibre postural. Les problèmes récurrents des instrumentistes sont la plupart du temps liés à des tensions corporelles non conscientes (voir les écrits de Wilhelm Reich et d'Alexander Lowen sur les cuirasses musculaires et émotionnelles), qui empêchent l'expression de soi libre et spontanée. Un travail de technique instrumentale de haut niveau, non lié à cette exigence de détente générale, ne peut que provoquer à la longue un surcroît de tensions musculaires pouvant amener le musicien apprenti ou professionnel à des problèmes corporels aigus (douleurs musculaires, tendinites...). La recherche de la sensation corporelle dans les exercices me semble également être une piste de travail intéressante - la question 'quelle est ta sensation ?' a pris de plus en plus de place ces dernières années dans mon enseignement. La pratique du chant intérieur est un axe majeur de travail - le chant est l'outil essentiel de la transmission, ce par quoi un travail digital passe à l'expression de l'humain. Il est aussi le véhicule privilégié par lequel l'être raconte son histoire, son vécu intérieur. A la question 'que veux-tu exprimer et de quelle manière ?', la réponse a pratiquement toujours été donnée par la pratique du chant. Le chant accorde le geste et l'intention musicale, il permet de dire également : 'voilà mon propos', et comment le matérialiser techniquement en transformant la musique en geste vocal. J'espère que le fruit de ces recherches permettra à tous ceux qui sont dans une démarche qui implique l'être dans sa globalité, d'aller jusqu'au bout de leurs possibilités, et comblera certaines attentes ou questionnements qui m'ont accompagnés tout le long de ma vie d'instrumentiste. Chaque exercice à la barre comme au centre possédait son propre caractère : sensibilité, poésie, nuances, dynamiques, couleurs, puissance grâce à la capacité de Natalia de traduire les mouvements chorégraphiques en phrase musicale. Les retenues, les résonances, les accents, les anacrouses étaient en parfaite liaison avec mes explications et mes exigences de qualité de mouvement. La diversité de son accompagnement donnait à chaque cours une ambiance particulière. Le travail avec Natalia à mon sens n'a pu se faire qu'avec une grande complicité et compréhension émotionnelle.

Que ne donnerions nous pas pour pouvoir rencontrer Schubert, Mozart ou Mahler, afin que, sur leurs conseils, notre jeu traduise bien ce qu'ils ont voulu exprimer ! Malgré cette proximité avec les compositeurs, j'entends souvent dire qu'il est nécessaire d'avoir une érudition spécifique pour pouvoir jouer de la musique contemporaine et l'apprécier. Le plus difficile au départ est de partir d'une feuille vierge, car nous n'avons pas de référence, ni de mémoire concernant cette musique, contrairement à une œuvre de Brahms par exemple, dans laquelle nous pouvons retrouver une histoire, un héritage qui est en nous. L'approche de la musique contemporaine est donc forcément déroutante car elle n'est pas enracinée dans un vécu. Pourtant, la démarche musicale me semble être la même en ce qui concerne la qualité de jeu, que l'œuvre jouée soit de style baroque, romantique, moderne ou contemporain. L'expression et le discours musical sont les fils conducteurs, alliés à un respect du texte qui ne doit pas être laissé au hasard. Peu à peu nous créons notre histoire, en nous appropriant ce nouveau langage. Ce recueil, fruit d'une collaboration très étroite avec chaque compositeur, fournit les clés nécessaires pour permettre la maîtrise des besoins instrumentaux spécifiques et pour accéder à la compréhension musicale des œuvres. Ainsi, le choix de présenter différentes tablatures me paraissait important afin de confronter les élèves aux différentes annotations existantes. L'enregistrement des pièces sur CD est une référence supplémentaire. Vous trouverez dans ce recueil un ensemble de pièces pour clarinette seule, de duos pour clarinettes et de pièces pour clarinette et piano, la plupart n'excédant pas deux minutes. Certaines pièces sont d'écriture plutôt classique comme Un, deux, trois… de E. Danajloska ou L'Arbre de P. Schoeller, d'autres font appel à des techniques de jeu contemporaines (sons multiphoniques, vibrato, flatterzungen, quarts de tons), comme Ondes de A. Posadas, Echoing Forest de F. Tanada, Double de J. L. Hervé ou Blues de B. Mantovani. Pour finir vous pourrez expérimenter l'improvisation contemporaine grâce à la pièce de C. Crousier Brouillasse-Broussaille. Le choix des compositeurs s'est porté sur des artistes reconnus sur la scène internationale avec lesquels j'ai l'habitude de travailler avec l'ensemble L'Itinéraire. Par JARRELL MICHAEL. J'ai toujours été attiré par la danse et souvent j'ai souhaité écrire une musique de ballet. J'entends par là une musique conçue pour la danse et, si possible, écrire en collaboration avec un chorégraphe. Cette collaboration porterait avant tout sur les questions de forme et de structure. Le ballet de chambre Essaims-Cribles constitue un premier pas dans cette voie. Bien que réalisé sans chorégraphie, il a été conçu pour la danse. Pour cela, je suis parti de la représentation du mouvement, de figures géométriques, de description d'images. Toutefois, ces recettes restent personnelles et pour une création dansée, le chorégraphe conserverait bien sur sa liberté d'interprétation. Je pense néanmoins que la relation avec une musique écrite pour ballet ne pourra pas être la même qu'avec une musique imaginée par le chorégraphe, qui lui plaît et qui l'attire. Je pense que l'échange serait alors plus fort et plus profond. Michael Jarrell Si la voix est absente d'Essaims-cribles, le texte y est quant à lui inscrit: des vers de Patrick Weidmann, poète et peintre, ami de Jarrell, talonnent en effet la partition. Impulsion poétique plus que programme (l'oeuvre est conçue pour le ballet, mais pensée encore une fois en termes de 'mouvement, figures géométriques'), il sert de titre aux différentes parties: ESSAIMS-CRIBLES INHALE D'URGENCE TEMPETE-ARC D'ANGLE S'IMMISCE A PERTE LONGITUDE CURVISME ABATTU TANGENCE FACIALE ENTRE RESSACS ENTAMES APESANTEUR DEFAITE La première phrase du poème, qui devient le titre de l'oeuvre, est aussi une image explicite d'un des procédés d'écriture utilisés par le compositeur: les 'essaims' sont des 'rubans' de notes enchaînées rapidement et en valeurs rythmiques égales (matériau repris au début d'Assonance, pour clarinette seule, et fournissant l'un des multiples exemples de la tendance 'rhizomatique' de l'oeuvre de Jarrell). La répartition statistique des hauteurs dans un ambitus donné - autour de l'octave - rappelle certains procédés utilisés par Ligeti. Le 'crible' consiste à éliminer ces notes pour ne garder que certaines hauteurs, et résulte en une fixation sur des hauteurs privilégiées, matérialisée le plus souvent sous forme de séquences en notes répétées. Intervient alors un jeu de dosage entre 'rubans' de notes et notes répétées. La clarinette basse soliste émerge de cette texture globale à la mesure 13, perçue comme soliste à partir de l'élargissement soudain de l'ambitus dans lequel elle évolue. Les différentes parties désignées par les vers du poème correspondent nettement à des changements de textures et donnent l'impression de répondre également au traitement local de petites structures. A la mesure 49, les rubans seront repris avec une plus grande amplitude pour aboutir à des figures plus irrégulières, plus sporadiques. Au fragment de texte 's'immisce' correspond un solo de clarinette basse où se déploie une belle ligne mélodique aux intervalles tendus, dont Jarrell précise qu'il doit être 'très lyrique'. La section 'longitude' (lettres H à M) constitue un premier exemple de ces passages en suspension qui sont comme une parenthèse hors temps dans le déroulement de la pièce. On y rencontre un alliage de sons résonants, de sons multiphoniques, de jeu de cordes flautando ou en harmoniques, de trilles en multiphoniques à la clarinette basse, de tenues légères aux bois. La fin de l'oeuvre fournit un nouvel exemple de suspension du discours. Si le relatif statisme de la texture sert à ménager dans '...entre ressacs entamés' (lettre T) un arrière-plan sur lequel se dégagera le solo de clarinette contrebasse (mes. 285), le fragment poétique associé à la dernière section ('apesanteur défaite', lettre X) apparaît comme un véritable programme, tant est manifeste la sensation d'échapper à une force de gravité musicale. Le corollaire de cet état d'apesanteur est une impression de débrayage temporel momentané, une échappée hors temps directionnel. Par un jeu subtil de fausses répétitions et de faux repères cycliques - les transformations, qui affectent à la fois le rythme, la disposition harmonique et la présentation mélodique, produisent un paysage toujours changeant -, Jarrell parvient à créer une ambiance hypnotique proche de celle que procure l'observation des lents mouvements d'un mobile. On notera au passage le clin d'oeil discret au thème célèbre du générique de la série télévisée 'Mission impossible' ! La répétition est un des aspects importants d'Essaims-cribles, et elle intervient à plusieurs niveaux. A l'échelle de la forme globale, on peut déceler aux deux tiers de la pièce (lettre R) un retour à la situation initiale, mais sous forme condensée. De même certaines séquences de notes balisent le discours par leur récurrence. A l'échelle locale, on retiendra le principe observable à la dernière page de la partition: une section de quatre mesures reprise ad libitum au moins trois fois, avec un decrescendo progressif. Ce type de fin, assez fréquent chez le compositeur, sera développé dans Assonance V. Présentation Ces vocalises sont faites pour trouver la virtuosité de sa voix, et sa fluidité dans une écriture d'aujourd'hui. Vous y trouverez quelques fondamentaux comme les grands intervalles, la longue tessiture, pour toutes les voix, le chromatisme, le tempo rapide vocalisé, les slanci ou glissati, les quarts de tons, les nuances ainsi que les tenuti pianissimi ou encore le decrescendo finissant sur un fil di voce. La valeur ajoutée sur le plan rythmique habituera le chanteur à combiner les textes sur une pulsation interne permanente malgré l'exécution de la mélodie étudiée. Les tenuti ouvriront l'imaginaire du chanteur en y plaçant le texte, ad libitum. Les respirations inaudibles pour certains textes - proches de la mélodie ou du récitatif - côtoieront quelques inspirations et expirations audibles, ou sons-bruits fantômes. J'accorde beaucoup d'importance à l'articulation du texte en bouche, et à la place des lèvres dans l'acoustique du son. En effet, le chanteur transporte son propre théâtre à l'italienne partout et son palais devient alors le fin connaisseur de la place des aigus et sur-aigus. Le chanteur est un gourmet de sa bouche et de tout son appareil phonatoire et respiratoire. Le sprechgesang aura une large part dans ces vocalises. Quelques nouvelles idées d'écritures apparaissent comme celles des agrégats ou arpèges, les pleurs, les rires, la main devant la bouche, le rauco, les sons soufflés, le bruit des lèvres, la langue sortie roulée sur la lèvre supérieure, les claquements de langue, le vibrato glottique. La présence du chanteur sera indispensable pour donner du sens aux textes empruntés au répertoire des opéras classiques choisis. Ces Airs connus par coeur par chaque chanteur, que ce soit Carmen, Adolar, Méphistophélès, Mab, Pédrillo, Marina, Anna Bolena, Lucrezia, Philippe II, Urbain, La Reine de la nuit, Vulcain, Sarastro ou Erda, pour n'en citer que quelques-uns, glisseront peu à peu dans des traitements - stylistiques et vocaux - déformés par tout ce que j'ai cité plus haut : à savoir que la virtuosité prend le pas sur la texture du texte et de la voix : des phonèmes en lien avec la compréhension du texte, ou non, agrémenteront la réactivité du chanteur, vers une attitude ludique, inventive et drôle, bien que précise et technique. La sûreté des attaques sera appréciée, comme l'apprentissage des différents effets vocaux (une vingtaine, en tout) et de leurs cryptogrammes respectifs. Si cette collection s'adresse à des chanteurs expérimentés et sûrs de leur technique globale, elle provoquera certainement des prises de conscience sur le couple voix et répertoire, peu évident à mettre en place chez de jeunes artistes, appelés à mûrir, à expérimenter, donc à évoluer dans leur répertoire, et leur confort d'émission. La beauté de l'instrument est indispensable pour défendre le cadre scénique de chaque vocalise : j'invite les jeunes chanteurs à croiser la voix, sa technique avec le jeu, l'amusement et sa virtuosité. La soif et le bonheur de chanter se mesureront à la discipline de l'apprentissage. Jeunes artistes doués et patients, devenez ces êtres-bouches à la fois chanteurs-conteurs-hypnotiseurs et connaisseurs alchimiques du pouvoir colossal de la voix humaine. Ouvrez vos cerveaux et vos bouches : le monde vous réclame ! J'ai écrit 10 textes de vocalises avec humour pour désacraliser le mot virtuosité et style contemporain d'écriture ou effets vocaux. En effet, beaucoup de chanteurs sont craintifs devant la liberté demandée à leurs voix, pour réaliser théatralement ou dramaturgiquement un texte au service de la fluidité vocale sûre. Je me suis appuyée sur les arcanes de type de rôles chez les Mezzos. Ainsi, 4 catégories ont été privilégiées : a) mezzo lyrique (2 vocalises) : Arianna, La sentimentale b) mezzo colorature (2 vocalises : C'est à Séville, Il paggio) c) mezzo dramatique (2 vocalises : Lucrézia, Marina) d) contralto (4 vocalises : Fata Morgana, Le temps des lilas, Torture-moi, Elena-Lila) J'espère que les chanteuses s'amuseront en déchiffrant ces 10 vocalises, reprenant une technique classique avec, en plus, quelques effets dits contemporains. Aujourd'hui, ces manières d'écrire sont habituelles chez de nombreux compositeurs qui servent la voix et ne la desservent pas, comme on l'entend souvent dire, à propos de techniques vocales contemporaines. Un dernier point : toutes mes vocalises sont sur du texte en plus des voyelles classiques et indispensables à mettre en place dans la bouche du chanteur. Le texte sert de fil rouge à l'histoire racontée, souvent farfelue et se doublant d'auto-dérision (même si certains textes choisis sont sortis de rôles phares de Mezzos). En effet, les mots permettent une utilisation plurielle de l'appareil phonatoire et permettent de passer plus aisément des vocalises à texte aux oeuvres écrites par les compositeurs d'aujourd'hui. SAM-Klang. Par FAURE GABRIEL. Le Requiem de Gabriel Fauré est sans doute l’œuvre chorale la plus connue et la plus fréquemment interprétée de la fin du XIXe siècle et du début du XXe siècle. En tant que chef de chœur et organiste, Fauré a cherché à façonner une nouvelle musique religieuse, loin du bel canto qui régnait à Paris et du style romantique allemande plébiscité qui dominait une grande partie du paysage musical européen. Son style musical distinctif a constitué la base de l’école impressionniste de Debussy et Ravel (son élève) qui a suivi. Avec des versions pour église (1893) ou salle de concert (1900), le Requiem est une œuvre quasi unique en son genre par sa sobriété, notamment en raison de l’omission d’une Séquence complète du ‘Dies irae’ et de la finale séraphique ‘In Paradisum’. L’œuvre fait sienne la conviction de Fauré selon laquelle la mort doit être considérée “comme une heureuse délivrance, une aspiration vers le bonheur céleste, plutôt qu’une expérience douloureuse”. Cette réduction pour piano présentée ici est fidèle à l’édition de Desmond Ratcliffe publiée par Novello en 1975. Le tempo original de Fauré et les subtilités de la dynamique ont été conservés, bien que certaines des marques de respiration originales du compositeur, aujourd’hui considérées comme superflues dans les partitions contemporaines, aient été supprimées. Les passages pour voix de ténor dans l’Introit et l’Agnus Dei peuvent être chantés par toutes les voix basses lorsque cela est possible. Si non, le passage peut être chanté par un ensemble de voix masculines plus aiguës et d’altos. Note éditoriale : De par sa conception, cette édition SAM-Klang propose un défi de circonstance en proposant un niveau de chant légèrement plus élevé que dans la version SATB originale. À certains endroits, une subtile redistribution des entrées vocales dans les sections polyphoniques a été nécessaire. Pièces Polyrythmiques En Onomatopées. Par POZZI MIRTHA. Onomatotek présente des polyrythmies vocales, faisant parfois intervenir des jeux avec les mains et les pieds, sur place ou en mouvement. La superposition de cellules rythmiques permet un jeu d'ensemble ainsi qu'un travail sur l'écoute individuelle et collective. Le jeu polyrythmique offre la possibilité d'une participation active à la création d'une musique forte et entrainante, impliquant tout le corps dans le processus sonore. L'instrument-voix, les phénomènes vocaux - respiration, phonation, vibrations... - sont mis au service de la production des sons dans l'espace. Cette pratique des polyrythmies est une composante des musiques traditionnelles de percussion en Afrique, Amérique Latine, Inde... mais elle a aussi attiré des compositeurs de musique contemporaine, notamment Steve Reich avec Clapping music, Terry Riley avec IN C, et bien d'autres. Une volonté pédagogique anime en permanence ce projet : donner des outils pour pratiquer le rythme de façon organique, avec une dimension ludique ainsi que de s'épanouir par la pratique de la musique d'ensemble. Les cellules rythmiques sont construites à partir d'onomatopées, d'interjections, de locutions, de mots inventés, de mots en français, de 'mots de bruits', d'expressions empruntées au langage imagé, souvent insolites ou surprenantes. Les mots sont choisis pour leurs sonorités. L'orthographe des mots en français peut être modifiée afin de donner un caractère plus proche de 'l'écriture d'un brui'. Il s'agit d'enlever aux mots leur signification et de les extraire de leurs rôles habituels. Il y a dans ces polyrythmies une absence de hiérarchie entre les parties. Toutes ont la même importance - on peut cependant trouver des degrés de difficultés. Il faut faire comprendre aux musiciens qui la pratiquent que chaque voix appartient à un 'tout'. La difficulté et la complexité ne se trouvent pas seulement dans chacune d'elles mais dans leurs imbrications, la précision de la mise en place et la cohésion de l'ensemble. La méthode conseillée pour l'étude de la partition est : transmission orale / reproduction / critique et autocritique / mémorisation / et finalement la lecture. Si on souhaite aborder les partitions par la lecture (le déchiffrage), cela devrait se faire à haute voix afin d'être d'emblée dans la production de l'univers sonore. Des jeux musicaux préparatoires sont proposés afin de se familiariser avec le matériel musical. Tous les participants sont invités à étudier et pratiquer toutes les parties de la polyrythmie. L'étude des cellules doit précéder celle de la structure. L'écriture des notes est empruntée aux partitions de percussions. Les valeurs de notes sont généralement brèves, la hauteur est indéterminée, proche du langage parlé. La position de notes dans la portée indique des hauteurs relatives. L'indication métronomique peut être observée avec une certaine souplesse. C'est la pratique qui doit la déterminer, en veillant à préserver la force rythmique de l'ensemble. Le caractère répétitif fait partie de cette musique - comme on peut le trouver dans multiples formes de polyrythmies, notamment en percussion. Il faut éviter la mécanisation dans la répétition des cellules, chercher à avoir toujours une écoute vigilante et conserver l'énergie qui nourrit l'ensemble tout au long de l'exécution.
