Masterpiece was written by British composer conductor pianist and teacher Paul Drayton and sung by the King's Singers in their 2005 DVD release 'From Byrd to the Beatles'. Arranged here for SATB Voices with Piano accompaniment.The King's Singers are a British a cappella vocal ensemble founded in 1968. They are named after King's College in Cambridge England where the group was formed by six choral scholars. In the United Kingdom their popularity peaked in the 1970s and early 1980s. Thereafter they began to reach a wider international audience. Today the ensemble travels worldwide for itsperformances appearing in around 125 concerts each year mostly in Europe the U.S. and the Far East.

The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan Williams arranged by Paul Drayton for Violin and mixed choir.This innovative and imaginative choral arrangement of The Lark Ascending has the original solo Violin part accompanied by mixed choir. It sensitively sets George Meredith's poem (on which the original orchestration is based) and combines this with wordless Vocal lines and Vocal solos preserving the texture and timeless effect of the original. Commissioned and premiered by the Swedish Chamber Choir the work has also been recorded by the Choir under the direction of Simon Phipps.

The World's Desire was commissioned by the Choir of Truro Cathedral for their service of Nine Lessons and Carols in December 2008 to be performed after the eighth lesson. Setting a text by G. K. Chesterton it is highly original yet approachable and develops the opening melodic motif to provide a sense of cohesion throughout the piece.
