“Missa brevis in F in score. This was the first Mass which Mr. Haydn composed whilst still a student” says an entry in the catalogue of Haydn’s musical estate. Circa 1798/99 Haydn entered the work without an incipit in his working catalogue as “Missa brevis in F. / a due Soprani”. Around 1805/06 he added in shaky decrepit handwriting to the title “Missa.” on the front page of the organ part of one of the set of parts prepared by his copyist Johann Elßler: “Brevis / di me Giuseppe Haydn mpria / 1749”. This date the earliest yet found on a work by Haydn corresponds to the title of the Haydn catalogue whichindicates the eighteenth year of Haydn’s life i. e. 1749/50 as the starting point of his work: “Catalogue of all those compositions which I happen to remember writing from my 18th to my 73rd year of life.” In 1805 Haydn set about adding further instruments to the original scoring for two violins and figured organ bass and by 15th February 1806 the larger instrumentation was ready as is evidenced by a letter written on this very day by the Haydn biographer Georg August Griesinger. It is however by no means certain whether the seventy-three-year-old undertook this adaptation himself. - Urtext from Joseph Haydn Werke - Full score parts (BA4644) and vocal score (BA4644-90) available for sale - Early string version and later version with wind instruments and timpani

E major BWV 1053-In early 1729 Bach became director of the so-called »Scottish Collegium Musician« a music organization of students and local citizens. The remarkable results of this undertaking are the concertos for harpsichord. Today it is almost certain that practically all of these concertos were transcribed from concertos for melody instruments (mostly violin or oboe).BWV 1053 is the second piece in the autograph score of harpsichord concertos that Bach prepared in or around 1738 (Berlin Staatsbibliothek Mus. ms. Bach P 234). It was probably transcribed from a concerto for a solo woodwind instrument although opinions differ on the original key and instrument. Bach had alreadyreworked the original concerto in two church cantatas in the autumn of 1726 (BWV 49 and BWV 169) at which time he assigned the solo part to the organ. Perhaps the original concerto is not much older than these cantatas for the siciliano slow movement is closely related in expression to many numbers from his great Passion settings.Urtext of the New Bach EditionFull score & parts (BA5225) two-keyboard reduction (BA5225-90) and study score (TP410) format 22.5 x 16.5cm (all 6 concertos) available for sale

PICCOLO AUDITION Flûte traversière UNIVERSAL EDITION
Henrik Wiese once again draws on his wealth of experience as a flutist and pedag...(+)
Henrik Wiese once again draws on his wealth of experience as a flutist and pedagogue: with his book “The Piccolo & Alto Flute Audition“, he has compiled a total of 207 audition excerpts in a carefully edited and clearly arranged compendium. In alphabetical order, it contains standard passages from orchestral works of various genres throughout music history, both common and less frequently requested. This up-to-date collection is a reliable companion and indispensable for optimal preparation for international auditions of all kinds at the opera, with symphony or chamber orchestras. Easy-to-read, uniform and modern layout make the edition convenient to use. The critical report and chronological list of audition excerpts for quicker stylistic classification make the editor a comprehensive coach for flutists. Numerous other tips and remarks gained by Wiese from his practical experience and exchange with colleagues and students complete the book. International demand is fulfilled by the texts being in three languages (German, French, English), thus making “The Piccolo & Alto Flute Audition“ the equivalent of the already established edition “The Flute Audition“. 'Die fröhliche Viola' is a viola method for children which is aimed primarily at pupils who start to learn playing the viola without taking a detour to the violin. Those who have already played the violin and use the method as a 'way to change instruments' may skip some pieces or even start with Vol.2.Like 'Die fröhliche Violine' this book intends to make the children have fun while learning to play the viola. For this purpose a stylistically varied range of classical and folkloristic songs and instrumental pieces encourage music-making and small texts provide interesting information on the viola the music and its composers. The viola is used both as a solo and as anaccompanying instrument and the 'hearing' and 'counting' of middle and lower lines are specifically trained. Due to the fact that many songs and secondary parts are notated in the treble clef and thanks to examples for trio and quartet playing this book especially encourages ensemble playing with friends or within the family.

paperbound-Carl Nielsen?s Fantasy Pieces for Oboe and Piano were composed in 1889/90. Having just gained a position as a violinist in the Royal Danish Orchestra Nielsen had already experienced successwith his String Suite Op. 1 both as a composer and as a conductor. Several sketches and autographs bear witness to his intensive work on these contrasting pieces for Oboe which were to appear in 1890 as his Opus 2.The twomovements Romance and Humoreske are dedicated to the oboist Olivo Krause who played in the royal orchestra. His beautiful tone and virtuosic technique probably played no small part in the fact that these miniatures by the?young talented composer? took the public and critics by storm at their first performance in March 1891.

24 Favourite Pieces Arranged For The Moderately Advanced Guitarist. Par COLES PAUL. 'From Folk to Classical 2” is a mouth-watering collection of 24 arrangements for classical guitar by Paul Coles. The classical pieces include many favourites, including a few you would not expect to hear on the guitar, such as 'Habanera” from 'Carmen” and Saint-Saën's famous 'Swan” but they really work!
Traditional folk numbers are not neglected, with 'Michael Row the Boat” and 'Londonderry Air” among the best known. The arrangements are for moderately advanced players (UK grade 5-6) and Paul has offered fingering help for both left and right hands. Apple Records was a noble experiment created in the spirit of the 1960s by four musicians who came to represent everything that was best about those tumultuous, experimental, and liberating times. The Beatles started out with the greatest of intentions, but reality soon got in the way. Much has been written about this period in the history of The Beatles' evolution and dissolution---some of it true, some of it wildly exaggerated, but not much of it first-hand. The Longest Cocktail Party is a rare exception. Written by Richard DiLello, who served as Apple Record's 'House Hippie' from 1968 to 1970, this unusual first-hand glimpse into The Beatles' empire humorously chronicles the stranger-than-life stories that were to become legendary, including visits by the Hell's Angels and endless tales of celebrity antics. Alfred Music is proud to offer this latest edition, which features a new and insightful foreword by the author. Originally published by Playboy Press in 1972, The Longest Cocktail Party has proven itself a timeless chronicle of this most colorful period in pop history. / Divers

?Sonata quasi una fantasia? was the title given to it by Beethoven and yet the world of music knows it as the ?Moonlight Sonata? an epithet that was already around during the composer?s lifetime. ?The lake rests quiet under thelight of the moon at twilight; the wave thuds against the dark bank? wrote Ludwig Rellstab on the 1st movement in 1823. ?It is as if we catch sight of a colossal grave in the middle of a lonely plain palely lit by the sicklemoon? was what Wilhelm von Lenz wrote. Beethoven might have been influenced by the sound of the Aeolian harp as Murray Perahia and Norbert Gertsch explain in the introductory texts to this edition referring to the latestresearch. Perahia also provided the fingerings.

Bartok wrote his Piano Concerto No.3 during the summer of 1945 intending it as a birthday present to his wife Ditta on 31st October. By this time he was already gravely ill; however he was able to finish the score with the exception of the last seventeen bars which he notated in a kind of musical shorthand. These last bars were later deciphered and scored by his pupil and friend Tibor Serly. This is a reduction for 2 Pianos four hands by Matyas Seiber.

Mainly famous as an opera composer Donizetti is also the most important Italian representative of the string quartet genre. If the first quartets can be regarded as experiments of the young composer with a strictly classical form the intermediate and later pieces are unmistakable expressions of a mature musical mind. The String Quartets Nos. 1-6 complete the two volumes already published (Nos. 7–12 13–18); for the first time the editions present a complete critically edited musical text.

| Clawhammer Banjo From
Scratch, A 2-Dvd Set Banjo Old Time Music and Dance
An instructional video that starts from the beginning! Clawhammer From Scratch b...(+)
An instructional video that starts from the beginning! Clawhammer From Scratch begins as though you really have NO knowledge of how to play the five string banjo clawhammer style. Beginning at the beginning, Dan presents a brief history of the 5-string banjo then goes over the parts of the banjo, holding the banjo, right and left hand styles and his basic clawhammer strum. Even the strum is broken down into the steps of the finger and thumb. Based on Dan's innovative Meet the Banjo(TM) program where Dan brings 15 banjos and teaches players who may have never held a banjo, this video assumes no prior experience. Using one tune, Spotted Pony, you are guided through the chords, the scale and then the individual notes of the tune. This video ends with a few tips and frequently asked questions and even a chance for YOU to play with the fiddle and guitar just like in a private jam session. If you have been looking for that one instructional recording to get you started, this is the one for you. If you already have many books or videos but still can't seem to get the basics, this is the one for you, too! A 2-page pamphlet is included. Picking up where Volume 1 left off, in Volume 2 you will learn to capo up to D tuning, review the basics of the Double Thumb Pony, then head off into the banjo world by learning to drop thumb, hammer-on, pull-off, and slide your way into the Full Blown Pony. Just as in Volume 1, you are guided through the chords, the scale, and then the individual notes of the tune as well as each of the techniques that make Old Time Southern Appalachian clawhammer banjo music as exciting as you have heard. Each technique is taught, then applied to the tune and repeated in easily learnable segments. This video even gives you a chance to play banjo with the fiddle and guitar just like in a real jam session. Booklet included. / Banjo (5 Cordes) / niveau : Débutant/Intermédiaire / 2-Dvd Set - Format: 7,5 X 5,25

The bass recorder brings a deep rich timbre to the recorder ensemble. Neverthel...(+)
The bass recorder brings a deep rich timbre to the recorder ensemble. Nevertheless when beginning with the bass recorder even players who have already mastered one or more instruments of the recorder family face the problem of learning a new clef and feeling at home with an instrument which is different from the other recorders in its shape and handling. The Bass Recorder Workshop is a 'hands-on' tutor which helps players acquire the bass recorder skills necessary for refined ensemble playing step by step. The bass recorder is incorporated into the ensemble from the beginning. The degree of difficulty in the bass line gradually increases in terms of tone quality rhythm andtechnical demands. The Bass Recorder Workshop consists of consecutive volumes with music for three to five voice recorder ensembles as well as exercises and information on the following subjects: o the bass recorder - construction instrument types historical background o technical foundations of bass recorder playing posture fingering sound and articulation o practise and rehearsal techniques intonation in ensemble playing o stylistically diverse ensemble repertoire ranging from medieval to contemporary music The Bass Recorder Workshop offers the possibility of playing the bass line of the ensemble pieces along with the CD included. The audio examples come in two versions: the full versions are complemented by versions without the bass line which can be used to play along with. Beginners who would like to start with the bass as their first recorder instrument should supplement the Bass Recorder Workshop with lessons from a teacher. Learning the bass recorder whilst playing in an ensemble continues in this 3rd volume of Workshop Bassblockflöte. Greater emphasis is placed on the techniques of refining sound quality 2 and 3 part arrangements and playing not only the bass voice but also the middle or even the melodic line.
