30 Transcriptions. Par SCHUMANN ROBERT. The edition Schumann for Guitar is an interesting attempt to transfer Robert Schumann's romantic, lyrical music to the guitar. As a consequence, new tonal possibilities present themselves for the guitar repertoire, particularly in view of the fact that Schumann himself never composed an original piece for guitar.
This volume naturally contains pieces from the famous piano cycles Album für die Jugend, Kinderszenen and Albumblätter, but also some lieder like Mondnacht or Im wunderschönen Monat Mai. Special highlights of the volume are the original Schumann transcriptions by Francisco Tárrega (1852-1909) which prove that guitarists studied Schumann's music as early as the 19th century.
Schumann for Guitar is ideal for concerts and music lessons, but also for private music-making. The pieces are of easy to intermediate technical difficulty so that even amateur guitar players will enjoy the pieces! / Niveau : Facile à Moyen / Recueil / Guitare

Album per la gioventù Op. 68. Par SCHUMANN ROBERT. The volume brings together two of Robert Schumann’s most famous collections of piano pieces for the young. Scenes from the Childhood (Kinderszenen), op. 15, contains a series of short pieces for piano written by Schumann in February 1838. These form the German composer’s poetic cycles, together with the Kreisleriana. As their titles suggest, Schumann had been inspired by some letters written by his wife, Clara Wieck, in which she reflects on his sometimes infantile spirit. As the great composer said himself: “There is a bit of everything, yet at the same time they are such easy pieces toremember”. Album for the Young (Album für die Jugend), op. 68, is a collection of simple pieces composed by Robert Schumann in 1848 for his three daughters. This album contains 43 easy pieces, split between “for the youngest ones” and “the older ones”. Edition in three languages: Italian, English and French / Niveau : Intermédiaire / Date parution : 1905-07-07/ Répertoire / Piano

43 Klavierstücke Op. 68-In 1848 after finishing an album of little Piano pieces for his daughter Marie Schumann devised the plan of compiling a ‘children’s album’. Since then the resultant collection of 43 pieces has enjoyed unparalleled success. Schumann’s Album For The Young is now presented in an Urtext edition which meets the needs of performers. In addition to the famous ‘Advice to Young Musicians’ (in German English and a French translation by Liszt) other pieces related to this work but left unpublished during Schumann’s lifetime can be found in the appendix. For the first time thisedition also includes Clara Schumann’s original pedal markings. Clara’s fingering served Ragna Schirmer as an important point of departure for her own thoughts on fingering. Urtext edition at the cutting edge of scholarship. Many additional pieces and ‘Advice to Young Musicians’ in the appendix. Original pedal markings by Clara Schumann and fingering by Ragna Schirmer. Detailed Foreword (Ger/Eng) and detailed Critical Commentary (Eng)

Young composers often make their living with incidental music. Such was the case of Leonid Desyatnikov (*1955) who wrote in his early years a lot of music for puppet shows and dramatic performances. Later the author collected some pieces together forming the suite 'Reminiscences of the Theatre?, the title being of course a reminiscence of Robert Schumann's famous 'Album für die Jugend? (No 25). Desyatnikov's cycle - depicting a small entertaining theatrical revue - is addressed to young pianists. / Piano

Gade's piano music is steeped in Danish folk music, yet technically demanding and always very pianistic so that both piano pupils and experienced pianists will find many rewarding challenges when playing this music. The present album provides an insight into Gade's piano oeuvre and shows his importance in his day. Thanks to their numerous facets, the piano works of this great composer still are a valuable addition to lessons and concert performances. / Piano
