Six Panoramas, a six-part suite by French composer Pascal Proust, sends six greetings in sound from all over the world in the form of panoramic postcards. The locations range from the famous Grand Canyon and the Mediterranean island of Santorini all the way to Fiji in the South Pacific. As per standard in the Music Box series, the flexible instrumentation of both the wind and percussion parts allows us to revisit these dream destinations in a new light again and again.

Six Panoramas, een zesdelige suite van de Franse componist Pascal Proust, presenteert zes klinkende ansichtkaarten in panaromaformaat, verzonden van over de hele wereld. De locaties variëren van de beroemde Grand Canyon en het Griekse eiland Santorini in de Ege sche Zee tot Fiji in de Stille Oceaan. Zoals gebruikelijk in de serie Music Box kunnen we deze droombestemmingen dankzij de variabele bezettingsmogelijkheden in zowel de blazerspartijen als het slagwerk telkens weer in een nieuw licht gaan zien.

Die Spannweite reicht vom berühmten Grand Canyon über die Mittelmeerinsel Santorin bis hin zu den Fidschi-Inseln. Die variablen Besetzungsmöglichkeiten sowohl der vier Bläserstimmen als auch bei den Schlaginstrumenten wie bei der Music Box-Serie üblich lassen diese Traumziele in immer wieder neuem Licht erscheinen.

In the 1980s and 1990s there was a new surge of interest in the old swing of the 30s and 40s. The epicentre of this swing revival lay in the American state of California, Los Angeles and San Francisco in particular. Based on therules of the old swing in which each beat has a ternary subdivision but with more contemporary sounds and harmonies, Peter Kleine Schaars composed this work San Fransisco Swing. Through the frequent use of the rhythmiccells 22, 23 and 24 in all parts of this composition, each band, irrespective of its experience with swing music, will be able to give a swinging performance!

In de jaren tachtig en negentig van de vorige eeuw ontstond er een nieuwe golf van belangstelling voor de oude swing van de jaren dertig en veertig. Het epicentrum van deze swingrevival lag in de Amerikaanse staat Californië, metname in Los Angeles en San Francisco. Gebaseerd op de wetten van de oude swing waarin elke beat een ternaire onderverdeling heeft maar met meer hedendaagse klanken en harmonieën, componeerde Peter Kleine Schaars deze SanFransisco Swing. Door middel van het veelvuldig gebruik van de ritmische cellen 22, 23 en 24 in alle stemmen van deze compositie zal elk orkest, ongeacht de ervaring met swingmuziek, in staat zijn een swingende performanceneer te zetten!

Das Zentrum dieser Entwicklung befand sich insbesondere im amerikanischen Bundesstaat Kalifornien, in LosAngeles und San Francisco. Peter Kleine Schaars komponierte das Stück San Fransisco Swing nach den Regeln des alten Swings, bei dem jeder Schlag eine ternäre Unterteilung hat, allerdings mit modernen Klängen und Harmonien.Durch die häufige Verwendung der Rhythmus-Einheiten 22 und 24 in allen Stimmen der Komposition kann jedes Orchester unabhängig von seiner Erfahrung mit Swingmusik eine swingende“ Aufführung präsentieren!

Das Werk wurde 2008 komponiert und fungiert gleichzeitig als Cantus firmus meiner letzten Kammeroper ,,AURA (hauptsachlich in den Szenen 1 und 11). Entscheidend ist die Rolle der beiden Mechanismen, da die beiden Instrumente fur mich etwas Mechanisches haben. Ganz bewusst habe ich diese Seite als musikalische Substanz geschaffen. Weiter entwickelt ist das Stuck in Bezug zu ,,Arquitecturas del silencio eine Reflexion uber Spiegel, Symmetrien und raumakustische sowie allgemein akustische Prozesse im musikalischen Material. Das Stuck ist dem Duo Alberdi & Aizpiolea gewidmet. Es wurde in Chillida-Leku (Haus und Museum von Eduardo Chillida) in San Sebastian uraufgefuhrt. (Jose M. Sanchez-Verdu)
