Mark Taylor wrote the trumpet feature Scream Machine for a vinyl album by the Army Blues Jazz Ensemble in 1985. It was later published in a slightly simpler version called Brass Machine. This brass band arrangement by Philip Sparke has been arranged directly from the published jazz ensemble score and features soprano cornet and four solo cornets.

Mark Taylor componeerde het stuk Scream Machine, waarin de trompet de hoofdrol speelt, voor een vinylalbum dat in 1985 werd uitgebracht door het Army Blues Jazz Ensemble. Het werd later uitgegeven in een iets eenvoudiger versie, met als titel Brass Machine. Dit arrangement voor brassband is een rechtstreekse bewerking van de partituur voor het jazzensemble. Het is geschreven voor sopraancornet en vier solocornetten.

O Salutaris Hostia is one of Eriks Ešenvalds' most popular pieces. Originally written for female voices, the composer later created a version for full choir on which this arrangement is based. It has a gentle meditation with the two soloists drifting across the soft band accompaniment, alternately echoing and imitating each other or joining together in thirds. The effect is quietly ecstatic, a brief moment of adoration and wonderment. This arrangement can be played with either two cornets or two euphoniums as soloists as the accompaniment works just as effectively with either.

Flowerdale is a forest in Wester Ross, Scotland, which is well-known for it’s beautiful waterfall. This piece, for solo soprano cornet, is one of the movements from Philip Sparke’s epic suite Hymn of the Highlands. It depicts the tall trees swaying gently in the wind with the serenity of the area being reflected by the subtle accompaniment of the band. Let your soprano player bloom into colour with this exquisite solo. A real show stopper.

Hymn of the Highlands is een zevendelige suite voor brassband en werd geschreven in opdracht van David King en de Yorkshire Building Society Band.
