Guitar - Intermediate SKU: DY.DO-1522 Composed by Francis Bebey. Arranged by Ingrid Riollot. Score. Les Editions Doberman-Yppan #DO 1522. Published by Les Editions Doberman-Yppan (DY.DO-1522). ISBN 9782897963026.
Francis Bebey was born in Douala in July 1929, into a large family where his father, a pastor, struggled to feed his children. But Francis had the opportunity to go to school. Admiring his elder brother, Marcel Eyidi Bebey, he educated himself, distinguished himself, and eventually received a scholarship to go and take his baccalaureate in France. We approached the end of the 1950s when he arrived in La Rochelle. More than ever, in this France where Africans were looked at with curiosity, condescension, or disdain, Francis relied on his intellectual resources. A diligent worker, he obtained his Baccalaureate, then moved to Paris where he started English studies at the Sorbonne. One day, he knew what truly attracted him: he wanted to do radio. Francis learned his craft in France and in the USA. After working for a few years as a reporter, he was hired in 1961 as an international civil servant in the UNESCO Information Department. In parallel, Francis had always been drawn to musical creation. His very serious daytime activity didnâ??t prevent him from frequenting jazz clubs in the evenings. In Paris, the Jazz, the trendy music of that time, but also rumba and salsa attracted him. He collected records and attended numerous concerts. With his accomplice Manu Dibango, Francis took the stage and played music. Francis liked classical music since his childhood. He grew up listening to the cantatas and oratorios of Bach or Handel that his father had sung in the temple. He became passionate about the guitar, impressed by the Spanish and South American masters, and decided to learn to strum the instrument himself. He started composing guitar pieces, blending the various influences that flow through him with the traditional African music he had carried within since childhood. His approach captivated the director of the American Cultural Center (then located in the Saint-Germain neighborhood of Paris), who offered him the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. Francis gave his first guitar recital there (1963) in front of a mesmerized audience. His first solo album was released shortly thereafter. Gradually, Francis became recognized as a musician and composer. Several albums of the African guitar ambassador, as described by the press, were released. He also wrote books, to the point that his artistic career became challenging to reconcile with his career as a civil servant. In 1974, even though he had become the General Manager in charge of music at UNESCO, he took the bold leap and resigned from this prestigious institution to dedicated himself to the three activities that interested him: music, literature, and journalism. He explored the traditional musical heritage of the African continent, notably through the thumb piano sanza, and the polyphonic music of the Central African pygmies, or singing in his native language and composing humoristic songs in French! Success followed. Francis Bebey traveled the world: from France to Brazil, Cameroon to Sweden, Germany to the Carribean, or Morocco to Japan... the list of countries where he was invited to perform, gives lectures, or meets readers is very long. In addition to public recognition, he enjoyed the recognition of his fellow musicians, such as guitarist John Williams or Venezuelan Antonio Lauro, who invited him to be a part of the jury for a classical guitar competition in Caracas. His life was the journey of an African pioneer, a man rooted in his cultural heritage and carrying a message of sharing and hope for the world. His originality continues to vibrate around the world since his passing at the end of May 2001. $4.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Piano solo SKU: LB.200 Composed by Fulgencio Garcia. Arranged by Eduardo Rojas. Piano solo. Lovebird Music #200. Published by Lovebird Music (LB.200). La Gata Golosa (The Greedy Cat) is one of the most famous and beloved melodies of Colombia. It is a pasillo (literally, little step) – a South American musical genre related to the waltz. Originally named Soachita for the children of the Soacha area of Bogota, Garcia renamed it after a restaurant (piqueteadoro) he frequented. The restaurant’s actual name was La Gaité Gauloise (meaning French gaiety) but was nicknamed La Gata Golosa by the local customers. This virtuoso piano arrangement by Eduardo Rojas draws out many moods and musical colors from these delightful melodies while remaining playful and upbeat. $25.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

That is true to a certain extent. Americans have not relinquished the unique character of their individual heritage - they have, however, acknowledged those things that unite all of us as a people, a nation dedicated to liberty and justice for all. The one thing we share that is most obvious is this particular area of the planet Earth, located in the western hemisphere, on the North American Continent. This is a landmass that is bordered east and west by the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and north and south by Canada and Mexico. In addition, we have two states that are thousands of miles removed from these borders but very much a part of these states - the United States of America. This is a celebration of our country - our dwelling place - our Homeland. Our Homeland - this is the place where we pledge the same flag, protect and defend the same Constitution, breathe the same air, cherish the future of our children, and stand constant vigil to defend the rights that compelled our founders to form a more perfect Union. This is the place our ancestors fought for, and also the place where people still gather the courage to come and be a part of the greatest experiment in freedom in human history.America - a land uniquely blessed of God - a staggering mosaic of natural beauty and resources. America - sweet land of Liberty. America - residence for those who dared to dream the dream, pay the price, share the costs. . . of living in the HOMELAND! $14.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

There is no doubt that the goal of singing each other's liturgical music as an expression of the catholicity of our faith embodied in this volume, does in fact allow bilingual and multicultural parishes through the United States—and beyond—to respond to the liturgical needs of today while opening the door to new possibilities. — Becca Whitla The Hymn Society Journal. GIA is committed to providing resources that uphold the highest possible values for children and for our classrooms. We are excited about the efforts of the Feierabend Association for Music Education’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee to develop standards through which repertoire should be evaluated. Mangwani mpulele is a Sotho folk song of the Bantu people in South Africa, Lesotho, and Botswana. It was made popular in the United States by The Kingston Trio, a prominent part of the folk revival of the 1950s and 1960s. One rendering of the text into English has: Aunt, open the door for me. I am getting wet with rain. Whether it’s here or whether it’s there, I am getting wet with rain. 2. Ise oluwa is a well-known Yoruba (Nigerian) Christian song that was made widely popular by the African American singing group Sweet Honey in the Rock. Trombone Ensemble 8-part - moderate SKU: CY.CC2744 Composed by Anton Bieb...(+)
Trombone Ensemble 8-part - moderate SKU: CY.CC2744 Composed by Anton Biebl. Arranged by Robert Kalwas. German 20th century. Score and parts. Published by Cherry Classics (CY.CC2744). Ave Maria was composed in 1964 and is one of the most beautiful works for choral ensemble from the 20th century. It was written for a local German fireman's choir by one of his parish's singers who's profession was as a firefighter. The work languished for years but was discovered by a touring American choir who brought it back to the USA and recorded it. It became an instant hit.
The music has a heavenly feel to it and one is uplifted by its sheer beauty.
This 7-minute arrangement by Robert Kalwas is for 8-part Trombone ensemble and of moderate difficulty. All parts are in bass clef and the ranges are not extreme at all.
Ave Maria is featured on YouTube as a Virtual Choir International Multitrack for a Children's Charity in South Africa.
Cherry Classics is pleased to have approval for this arrangement from the estate of Franz Biebl. $32.50 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
