“Three songs by Kurt Weill is a set of three French songs for Voice and Piano. The lyrics have been written by Maurice Magre and Roger Fernay and the general level of difficulty is medium. The first piece, Complainte de la Seine (Complains of the Seine), is three page long and its lyrics are about what lies at the bottom of the river. The second song, Je ne t?aime pas (I don?t love you), is a man telling someone that he doesn?t love her, that everything is fine and that he is fine if she is happy. The third piece, Youkali is a highly rhythmic tango-habanera in four pages, which depicts the island of Youkali. Kurt Weill (1900-1950) is a German composer who developed operas and some works for the concert hall.”.

In this four-movement suite, every moment sings of a different type of French wine.
All these wines have their origins in the little French village of Savigny-les-Beaune in Burgundy and are made by wine-grower Pierre Guillemot.
It was theexcellent quality of the wines that inspired Rob Goorhuis into writing this composition.

The first three movements deal with three red wines made of the Pinot Noir grape which all bear the Premier Cru designation.
The final movement wasinspired by a white wine made of Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay.
In the nature of their musical material, the various movements not only give a characterisation of the taste of the wines. they also hint at impressions of the respective vineyards andtheir surroundings.

3rd Movement Les Serpentieres - Festivo
4rd Movement Dessus des Golardes - Vivace.

In de vierdelige suite Chansons Bachiques wordt steeds in elk deel een andere Franse wijn bezongen.
Al deze wijnen zijn afkomstig uit het dorpje Savigny-le-Beaune (Bourgogne) en worden vervaardigd door wijnboer Pierre Guillemot. Devoortreffelijke kwaliteit van de wijnen inspireerde Rob Goorhuis tot het maken van deze compositie.
De eerste drie delen behandelen drie rode wijnen welke gemaakt worden door de Pinot Noir druif en dragen alle het predikaat Premier Cru.
Hetlaatste deel is ge?nspireerd op een witte wijn welke van Pinot Blanc en Chardonnay wordt gemaakt.
In de karakters van de verschillende delen wordt niet alleen een smaakkarakteristiek van de wijnen, maar tevens een impressie gegeven van dewijngaard en het omliggende landschap.

Een loflied op het mooie huis van de buren, waar de aanbedene van de zanger woont. Het lied van een aarzelende verloving, en een lied over de strijd van Oekra eners en de Russen tegen een gezamenlijke vijand - dat zijn de drie treffendevolksliederen uit Oekra ene die Hotze Jelsma in deze suite voor accordeonorkest verwerkte.

Ein Loblied auf das schöne Haus des Nachbarn, in dem zufällig die Angebetete des Sängers wohnt, das Lied einer zweifelnden Verloben und ein Lied über den Kampf von Ukrainern und Russen gegen einen gemeinsamen Feind - dies sind die drei bewegenden Volkslieder aus der Ukraine, die Hotze Jelsma in seiner Suite für Akkordeonorchester verarbeitete.

La musique ukrainienne plonge ses racines dans la tradition des poèmes épico-narratifs et des longues ballades glorifiant les exploits des Cosaques. Elle trouve également ses origines chez les kozbars, ces ménestrels errants des XVIe et XVIIe siècles qui chantaient des chansons contant des aventures héro ques. Three Ukrainian Songs rassemble trois célèbres chansons traditionnelles de cette terre surnommée jadis la “Petite Russie”.

England enjoys a rich folk song tradition. Composers such as Cecil Sharp and Vaughan Williams rekindled an interest in this heritage at the beginning of the 20th century by arranging numerous songs, some of which were transcribed for the _x001F_first time. Philip Sparke selected three songs from the 18th and 19 century for his Three Folk Song Miniatures: the _x001F_shermanâ??s song Dance to Your Daddy, the love song O Waly, Waly and Bobby Shafto, a song from the northwest of England.
