The Reformation cantata Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott BWV 80b, published by Carus-Verlag for the first time in a practical performing edition, remained unknown to Bach scholars until well into the 20th century. The evidence of its existence is three fragments of the first folio of Bach's score, which can be dated to the years 1728-1731. By contrast, the long-familiar expanded new version of the cantata with its powerful opening chorus (BWV 80) dates from the 1730s or 1740s. It only survives in a copy of Bach's score, but this allows conclusions to be drawn about the history of the versions; thus, by using the fragments mentioned above, it has been possible to reconstruct the first version. This result is a Bach cantata which is less extensive and in a more concise normal format, with reduced wind instruments. A relaxed, contrapuntal four-part chorale movement with the first and last verses of the Lutheran hymn forms the framework, and the other movements are the same as in the later new version. This simpler cantata is also entirely suitable for celebrating Reformation Day, as Bach did around 1730. Score and part available separately - see item CA.3108000.

Joseph Haydn's Stabat Mater, written in 1767, was the first church work the composer wrote after entering the service of Prince Esterhazy in Eisenstadt. Unlike almost all his other sacred works, it soon circulated in numerous copies and established Haydn's reputation as the leading vocal composer of his day. This edition is based on three original copies of parts, which are regarded as being particularly close to the (missing) autograph manuscript because of the date they were made and the reliable transmission of the music text. As so, this great, moving setting of the Stabat Mater is now newly available in a modern, scholarly edition. The complete performance material is available on sale. Triptykon / Triptych for Organ solo by Niels Rosing-Schow. Triptych is written for the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017, commissioned by The Danish Society of Organists and Cantors. From the preface: The three movements of the work are musical images or situations, with the middle one, Toccata, as its axis. The latter is intended as an image of the dispute between Luther and the ecclesiastical authorities, which is the origin of the Reformation. Two of Luther's Reformation Hymns are more or less palpably present in the music. The other two movements can be regarded as 'before' and 'after'. The first, Exordium, is a 'fluid' situation, but also a preparation, which gradually accumulates a suspense pointing towards the discharge of energy of the Toccata. The third movement, Hymn, represents a serene situation, where a wealth of hymnal fragments grows out of an underlying structure, repeated several times(technically speaking, a passacaglia).
