Choral (SATB) - difficult SKU: HL.49000999 Wir glauben all an einen Go...(+)
Choral (SATB) - difficult SKU: HL.49000999 Wir glauben all an einen Gott. Composed by Ernst Pepping. This edition: C32473. Sheet music. Schott Chorverlag (Choral Music). Classical. Choral Score. Composed 1928. 39 pages. Duration 12'. Schott Music #C 32473. Published by Schott Music (HL.49000999). ISBN 9790001005555. UPC: 073999932478. 7.5x10.75x0.089 inches. German. The first part of Ernst Pepping's Choralsuite is a setting of Martin Luther's three-verse hymn, written to replace the Latin Credo in the Reformation German mass. Luther also adapted Catholic statements ('unam sanctam catholicam ecclesiam' was changed to 'die ganz Christenheit auf Erden' [the whole Christian church on earth]) as well as incorporating a number of his own theological convictions. Pepping orientates his highly contrapuntal choral texture to the vocal style of the 16th and 17th centuries and uses traditional church modes. $11.99 - See more - Buy online

This exciting work depicts the lively and sunny nature of the state of Florida. Opening with a brilliant and majestic section highlighting the state’s bright and vibrant culture, a flowing melody follows, representing the calming winds and consistent breeze of the state. Dance is a large part of Florida’s culture, especially in its southern region, and the 7/8 rhythm captures an Afro-Latin style dance movement. The chorale/hymn section is based on the Florida Song, which is a traditional school song of many schools, including Florida A&M in Tallahassee. The work then recapitulates and moves toward a driving and joyful conclusion. An excellent contest/festival work! $12.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

Orchestra Solo Baritone voice, SATB chorus, Big Band - Grade 3 SKU: CA.2810600 Composed by Christoph Schonherr. Carus digital: Extra digital products. Full Score. Composed 2018. 36 pages. Duration 11 minutes. Carus Verlag #2810600. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2810600). ISBN 9790007251291. Key: E flat major. German. Based on the extensive Psalm 107, Die mit Schiffen auf dem Meer thrillingly describes a storm at sea, during which God saves the sailors in distress and guides them safely back to land. The musical realization of the tumultuous ocean is framed by hymns of thanksgiving and praise to the Lord. Regarding his compositional process, Christoph Schönherr says: I was particularly attracted by the idea of translating the different facets of the sea into music. It can calm us down, convey a sense of freedom through its vastness, or indeed actually offer a route to freedom. For others, of course, it is the bringer of death.
The psalm setting skillfully interweaves sacred music traditions with the fascinating sonic possibilities of big band instrumentation, including its confident use of sassy 12/8 grooves and Latin rhythms.
With its identical instrumental scoring, the work is the perfect match for the Missa ad maiorem Dei gloriam by Wolfram Buchenberg (Carus 28.010).

SKU: GI.G-1046 Composed by Taizé Community. Sacred. GIA Publications #1046. Published by GIA Publications (GI.G-1046). UPC: 785147004622. For the Taizé Community, prayer together, three times a day, is a vital way to return to the wellsprings, to renew hope, and to get ready to take on practical commitments. This CD, like the other recordings made in Taizé, shows how this prayer is renewed while yet remaining constant throughout the years. Many of the songs presented here are new: they were written by brothers of Taizé between 2012 and 2017 and are recorded here for the first time. Others have been part of the community’s prayer for many years. A few come from a much older tradition: for example, the hymn Ô vous qui dans l’obscurité (You who in darkness) comes from the German evangelical churches of the 17th century, the litany Ô Sagesse (O Wisdom), which calls for the coming of Christ, is based on antiphons of the age-old tradition of the Latin Church. These last two pieces are sung at Taizé especially during the season of Advent. Most of these songs focus on an essential reality that can be internalized more and more deeply, as the words are tirelessly repeated. The simplicity of these repetitive forms makes them easy to sing in many situations, but they can nevertheless achieve great breadth and depth, especially when the voices of a large assembly are united with solo singers and instruments. To help use these songs in prayer groups or parishes, practical suggestions as well as the musical scores are available online and in books listed on the Taizé website www.taize.fr/en. $16.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

SKU: CA.2780400 Composed by Claudio Monteverdi. Edited by Uwe Wolf. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition. Hinni, Salve Regina, Motetti. Sacred vocal music, Hymns, Motets, Psalms, Latin. Full score. 92 pages. Carus Verlag #CV 27.804/00. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2780400). ISBN 9790007167790. Today Monteverdi's Selva morale et spirituale (1641) stands entirely in the shadow of his famous Vespers 1610. The editions from 1610 and 1641 both include music for the Mass and Vespers, but each of these collections was composed under much different circumstances during Monteverdi's lifetime. If the works of 1610 are a bold combination of traditional compositional techniques and avant garde music, which were intended by this weary Court Composer at Mantua as an application portfolio for a new job, the 1641 collection is the only church music by the mature Monteverdi which was published after almost thirty years in his position as Music Director of St. Mark's Cathedral: the latter, a kind of best of collection from his many years of experience as a church musician. In Venice the composer had not only a fabulous, but a large ensemble at his disposal (finally, about 35 singers, alone)! The combination of soloistic and weighty tutti sections makes a big effect in this music, it makes the music, with its clearly defined sections and, for the most part homophonic choral passages more easily performable than the Vespers for today's choirs. The new edition, comprised initially of three volumes, also includes those works from the Selva Morale (a Mass and two Magnificats) which have already been published by Carus, as well as all further liturgical compositions for use in the church. Volume III, Motetti, Salve Regina, Himini, contains compositions for 1 to 3 voices and basso continuo, some with two violins (the psalms are included in both the Salmi I and Salmi II volumes). The edition is based on the methods employed in the much acclaimed Carus edition of the Vespers: * It contains a detailed foreword with suggestions for notation, scoring and for the liturgical use of individual compositions. * For the present edition four of the five surviving printed copies, as well as contemporary manuscript were consulted. Facsimiles illustrate special characteristics of the edtion of 1641. A Critical Report makes clear all of the editorial decisions made in the edition. * All of the pieces are printed untransposed and using the original note values. * All of the pieces are available in single editions with complete performance material. * Vocal scores of all works with obbligato instruments facilitate rehearsal. * Instrumental parts for collaparte accompaniment of tutti-sections (including text underlay). $91.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Vocal, Basso continuo (Ges,Bc) SKU: BA.BA05965-01 Composed by Heinrich Schutz. Edited by Beate Agnes Schmidt. This edition: complete edition, urtext edition. Linen. Heinrich Schutz. Neue Ausgabe samtlicher Werke 10/11. Complete edition, Score, anthology. Composed 1636. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA05965_01. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA05965-01). ISBN 9790006497683. 27.5 x 20 cm inches. Preface: Schmidt, Beate Agnes. TheKleine geistliche Konzerte(Small Sacred Concertos), published in two parts in 1636 and1639, are among the best-known and well-loved compositions of Heinrich Schutz. Both parts constitute a collection of vocal pieces in a broad range of styles written for only a few voices with basso continuo. Most of the texts are in German, but some are also in Latin. The first volume presents a broad spectrum of vocal scoring, musical forms and texts: there are solo concertos in the Italian style, traditional four-part motets, well-known Psalm texts set to music, hymns as well as mystically contemplative meditative literature. The concertos' monodic qualities and high level of virtuosity - especially in the compositions with German text - made Schutz a household name shortly after theKleine geistliche Konzertewere published in print. As the works required no large ensembles, they could be performed for different occasions and in various locations; particularly during the Thirty Years' War they could be heard at court, in cities or in villages but also in schools or at home.
Unlike the 1963 edition of theKleine geistliche Konzerte(BA 3664, BA 3665, BA 3666) as part of the New Schutz Edition, this new volume presents the works for the first time in their original form and order. A historic-critical evaluation of all relevant sources yields new information regarding the composer's intentions, the printing process and the works' reception. Furthermore, the edition includes a reconstruction of an earlier version that has not been published until now. This edition is geared towards musicologists, as well as professional musicians and amateurs with a keen interest in early music.
About Barenreiter Urtext What can I expect from a Barenreiter Urtext edition? SSAATTBB Choir SKU: CA.967400 Composed by Jacek Sykulski. Edited by Stefan Schuck. CARUS CONTEMPORARY. Sacred vocal music. Full score. 16 pages. Duration 8 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 09.674/00. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.967400). ISBN 9790007187484. Language: Latin. With the publication of his hypnotic Pater noster, Carus proudly presents Jacek Sykulski as a new composer in the Carus Contemporary series. Whilst Sykulski has achieved worldwide success as Director of the Academic Choir at the University of Poznan and the Poznan Boys' Choir, as a composer he has remained a well-guarded secret until now. In his sacred compositions he combines in music the deeply Catholic-imbued tradition of his country with his own compositional technique, characterized by a tremendous vocal sensuousness of sound and a conscious use of tonality enriched by dissonance. His Pater noster was composed in 2009 and revised in 2015 for a performance by the RIAS Kammerchor in Berlin. The first section of this three-part work for eight-part choir (tenors and sopranos also split into three) begins with the invocation Pater noster homophonically in A minor. This then introduces the Gregorian liturgical melody of the Our Father canonically and aleatorically, like a contemplative congregational hymn. The middle section calls out Dein Reich komme in increasingly insistent rhythmic declamation, more demanding, with hypnotic repetitions and intensifications. In the last section, Sykulski returns to the opening harmonies, but now a semitone lower on A flat, followed by an intensification at the words sed libera nos a malo - and delivery us from evil once more; this ends unresolved in a diatonic cluster on A flat as the paradigm of our imperfect earthly existence. The eight-minute unaccompanied composition is extremely singable, impressive, and not difficult to master. The piece is suitable for use in the liturgy, as well as in concerts and competitions. $12.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

The Missa Beatissimae Virginis Maria was composed ca. 1758-1760, between the end of his tenure as a singer in the choir of St. Stephen's in Vienna and the beginning of his first position as violinist and music director for the Bishop of Grosswardein. The scoring of SATB (for soli as well as choir) and church trio was augmented by two trumpets (clarini) and timpani, as well as two trombones. The latter instruments double the alto and tenor voices in tutti passages but in the Et incarnatus est they are also employed in an obbligato role. On the one hand, as an early work this Mass is in the style of the festive baroque tradition, as practiced in south-German regions until the middle of the eighteenth century; on the other hand it already shows the subjective inspiration which distinguished it from many of the mass settings by Haydn's contemporaries. UPC: 888680828844. 9x12 inches. “English Horn (or flute or clarinet or alto), Violin & Cello Rarely has a musical work been better characterized by its subtitle than Nicolas Bacri's Lyric Interlude: 'A Study in Pastoral Style'. When, in 2008, the composer received the commission for a piece with English horn from Cecilia Benner, patron of the Chamber Music Society of Detroit, he immediately thought of the duo between this instrument and the oboe that Berlioz, in the Symphonie fantastique, placed at the beginning of the 'Scène aux champs', making suddenly appear a nocturnal country landscape where two shepherds carry on a dialogue on their pipes. First performed in March 2009 at one of the Scarab Club Concerts in Detroit, the Lyric Interlude for English horn, violin and cello (Op.110a) nonetheless proclaims another tradition: that of British pastoralism, illustrated by the music of Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958), the 50th anniversary of his death having just been celebrated. This score pays him homage of rare sensitivity: set off by refined counterpoint, the undulating lament of the beginning, rhythmically supple, evokes the waving wheat, as does Vaughan Williams in the opening undulation of his Symphony No.3. The lyrical effusion, briefly interrupted by a scherzo in 6/8, again pours out, making the work evolve towards a slow, ecstatic atmosphere, close to the last of the English composer's Three Preludes on Welsh Hymn Tunes. Far from bucolic, postcard clichés and servile imitation, this Lyric Interlude opens the doors to a realm where pure beauty reigns. The composer also wrote another version of this work for English horn (or flute, clarinet, or viola) and piano, Op.110b (AL 30 750)&rdquo. $20.55 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

He left behind four complete mass settings among these Missa Pannonica , written for six-part mixed choir, was composed in 1987 for the Tomkins Vocal Ensemble conducted by János Dobra. János Malina praised the nearly half-hour, large-scale and virtuosic work as follows: The mass is an outstanding achievement within Szokolay's sacred music oeuvre. The Antiphonale Romanum II is an eight-hundred-page book printed on bible paper having the usual format of books of Gregorian Chant published by Solesmes. It contains all the elements necessary for singing Sunday Vespers and the Vespers of all the feasts of the year. That means the hymns, the antiphons, the psalms and canticles, the readings, the brief responses, the intercessory prayers and the prayers that conclude the office. At the end of the book is a chapter that explains in detail the rules of chant pertaining to each of these musical forms. Johann Sebastian Bach's Magnificat BWV 243 was composed in its first form in E flat, right at the beginning of Bach's period in Leipzig, for the Visitation of Mary on 2.7.1723; for a further performance on the 1st day of Christmas, Bach added four extra Christmas movements following a Leipzig tradition. Only in the 1730s did Bach arrange the Magnificat in the well-known version in D; the orchestration was slightly altered, particularly improving the considerable practical performance problems encountered in the E flat major version. Our critical new edition contains the version of the Magnificat in D, based on Bach's autograph score. For Christmas performances the extra movements are available separately, transposed for performance with the D major version of the Magnificat (Carus 31.243/50).
