Par TOURNIER MARCEL. Marcel Lucien Tournier naît à Paris en 1879. Au Conservatoire de Paris, élève de R. Martenot et Alphonse Hasselmans, il remporte en 1899 un 1er Prix de harpe. Puis, suivant les classes de contrepoint, de fugue et de composition de G. Caussade et C. Lenepveu, il obtient le Second Grand Prix de Rome avec la cantate La Roussalka. En 1909, l'Institut lui décerne le Prix Rossini pour une autre cantate, Laure et Pétrarque. Nommé professeur de harpe au Conservatoire de Paris, en 1912, il y a formé de nombreux élèves parmi lesquels certains devinrent de grands solistes. Marcel Tournier fut un novateur qui enrichît de nombreux effets sonores les possibilités de son instrument. Il a publié principalement des compositions pour la harpe dont Jazz-Band, Pièces nègres, Sonatines Op.30 et 45 et les Images Op.29 en 4 suites, aux Editions Henry Lemoine.
