Antonio Vivaldi (1673-1741) was an Italian composer, violinist and teacher in the Baroque era. His name has become synonymous with the series of Violin concertos known as the Four Seasons , but he also wrote over 500 other concertos for various instruments, as well as dozens of operas and several sacred works. The Concerto No. 23 (RV 425) was written in 1725. Set in the key of C major, it was originally scored for solo Mandolin with String Orchestra and Continuo Bass (Cembalo). It has been arranged for Guitar or Mandolin with Piano accompaniment by the French composer Fernand Oubradous .

The genre of the violoncello concerto was born in 17th-century Italy. Thanks to the Venetian composer Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741), there exists today not only a wealth of magnificent violin concertos but also quite a number of cello concertos to whose development he contributed considerably. More than two dozens of his concertos are dedicated to the violoncello, including the probably most famous double concerto: the 'Concerto for Two Violoncellos, String Orchestra and Basso continuo in G minor (RV 531)' written after 1770. The sonorous work with its playful outer movements and expressive largo is published in this critical new edition on the basis of the sources.

Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi (1678 - 1741) is considered one of the most prolific composers in all of classical music. During his lifetime, he composed more than 500 concertos, of which approximately 350 of them were for violin. Four works by Vivaldi were known to have been composed for solo lute, including this Concerto in D Major, F.XII n.15 in three movements: Allegro giusto, Largo, and Allegro. In this edition, Victor Van Puijenbroeck has created a piano reduction of the orchestral score and also has adapted the lute part to be played on guitar. Included are parts for both lute (the part has been adapted from lute tablature to modern notation) and guitar (capotasto).
