Henle (HL.51489062). UPC: 840126951950. 6.75x9.5x0.263 inches. The twelve “London Symphonies†comprise the sublime final statement of Haydn's symphonic oeuvre. They were written for the London impresario Johann Peter Salomon, and Haydn himself conducted their premieres during his lengthy stays in the English metropolis in 1791/92 and 1794/95. To this day, the G-major symphony, first performed in March 1792, numbers among Haydn's most popular works. It owes its English nickname “Surprise†to the striking tutti chords in the Andante, which apparently caught the audience off guard. Haydn had consciously incorporated this effect at a later stage - and was thus subsequently also perfectly willing to authorize this nickname that had been dreamt up by a London musician. This popular work also spread rapidly through German-speaking countries, where it is still firmly established in the repertoire as the “symphony with the drumbeat.†This study edition adopts the musical text of the Haydn Complete Edition, thereby guaranteeing the highest scholarly quality. An informative preface and a brief Critical Report make the handy score an ideal companion for all current and soon-to-be Haydn fans. They were written for the London impresario Johann Peter Salomon, and Haydn himself conducted their premieres during his lengthy stays in the English metropolis in 1791/92 and 1794/95. Probably composed in the winter of 1791/92, the Symphony in D major no. 93 was, with its easily accessible (butby no means simple!) musical structure, perfectly tailored to London tastes, which demanded melodic clarity and expressive pathos. The Baroque echoes of Handel in the slow introduction to the first movement and in the festive mood of the finale with its timpani and trumpets would have been well received - no wonder the symphony had to be repeated multiple times in the same season after its performance in 1792! They were written for the London impresario Johann Peter Salomon, and Haydn himself conducted their premieres during his lengthy stays in the English metropolis in 1791/92 and 1794/95. Hailing from 1791, the Symphony in D major no. 96 numbers among the first symphonies written in and for London. The epithet given to it by posterity, “The Miracleâ€, was bestowed erroneously, for the miracle - that no one was injured when a chandelier fell during a concert - took place during a performance of a different Haydn symphony. And yet it is a miracle of musical esprit nonetheless; from the subtle relations between the motives consisting of broken triads that open all four movements, to the virtuosic shifts in mood owing to surprising harmonies, Haydn here submits a prime example of how he develops musical ideas. This study edition adopts the musical text of the Haydn Complete Edition, thereby guaranteeing the highest scholarly quality. | Double Bass Concerto No. 3 Orchestra [Study Score / Miniature] G. Henle
Double Bass; Orchestra (STUDY SCORE) SKU: HL.51487451 Study Score....(+)
Double Bass; Orchestra (STUDY SCORE) SKU: HL.51487451 Study Score. Composed by Serge Koussevitzky. Edited by Tobias Glö and ckler. Henle Study Scores. Classical. Softcover. 92 pages. G. Henle #HN7451. Published by G. Henle (HL.51487451). UPC: 196288158110. 6.75x9.5x0.294 inches. Thanks to its skilful combination of Romantic melody and sparkling virtuosity, KoussevitzkyÂ’s Double Bass Concerto op. 3 has been one of the most popular works of its genre since its Moscow premiere in 1905. No wonder, for the virtuoso double bass player Koussevitzky had composed it for his very own instrument. As early as 1906/07 a first piano reduction was published in Moscow, followed by a second in 1910 in Leipzig. However, both contain so many mistakes in the solo part that there is still uncertainty about the correct musical text in many passages to this day. The double bass player Tobias Glöckler has therefore prepared his Urtext edition using several sources: as well as the manuscript performance material and the piano reductions published during the composer's lifetime, he has also studied recordings with Koussevitzky as soloist - thereby finally producing a thoroughly-researchedUrtext edition of the orchestral score and piano reduction of this classic of the double bass literature. As with all double bass concertos published by Henle Publishers, this edition also contains the piano reduction by Christoph Sobanski in two keys (E minor and F sharp minor) for performance with solo or orchestral tuning. The E-flat-major Symphony no. 103 was composed in 1795 as the penultimate of the London Symphonies. It owes its epithet to its unique beginning; a solo drumroll in the timpani ushers in the slow introduction. This opening bar, marked with Haydn's heading “Intrada†and a pause, even inspires many a performer to venture a short timpani improvisation. This study edition adopts the musical text of the Haydn Complete Edition, thereby guaranteeing the highest scholarly quality. They were written for the London impresario Johann Peter Salomon, and Haydn himself conducted their premieres during his lengthy stays in the English metropolis in 1791/92 and 1794/95. The energetic, surging B-flat-major Symphony no. 102 belongs to the group of the last three symphonies premiered in early 1795. Exceptionally, Haydn here dispenses with the clarinets that are otherwise generally featured in his late symphonies. Haydn's three Symphonies nos. 90-92 might rightly be dubbed his “Paris Symphonies Part II,†as they were commissioned in 1788/89, likewise by the Société Olympique, for which Haydn had already composed his six “Paris Symphonies†nos. 82-87 just a few years earlier. Completed in 1788 according to the autograph manuscript, the Symphony in E flat major no. 91 astonishes, even for Haydn’s standards, with its many idiosyncrasies, such as the Baroque, contrapuntal theme of the first movement or the strings of trills in the slow variation movement. | Triumphlied, Op. 55 Orchestra [Study Score / Miniature] G. Henle
Baritone Voice; Choral; Orchestra (Study Score) SKU: HL.51489030 Barit...(+)
Baritone Voice; Choral; Orchestra (Study Score) SKU: HL.51489030 Baritone Solo, 8-Part Chorus and Orchestra Study Score. Composed by Johannes Brahms. Edited by Johannes Behr and Ulrich Tadday. Henle Study Scores. Classical. Softcover. G. Henle #HN9030. Published by G. Henle (HL.51489030). UPC: 196288093763. 6.75x9.5x0.505 inches. Brahms composed his Triumphlied for eight-part chorus, solo baritone and orchestra as a direct reaction to the victory of the German army in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 and the consequent founding of the German Empire. Similar to the German Requiem completed shortly before, Brahms himself compiled the text from the Bible, in this case from Chapter 19 of the Book of Revelations. Because of the somewhat melodramatic tone of the composition and the nationalistic background to the works genesis, in recent years the Triumphlied has seldom been heard in concert halls. Unlike overly-patriotic occasional works such as Richard Wagner's Kaisermarsch, the Triumphlied is true Brahms and is a musically rich composition. This study edition takes the musical text from the Brahms Complete Edition (HL 51486030), thereby representing the highest scholarly precision. The Appendix contains an exciting new discovery, a previously-unknown early version of the 1st movement in C major, which was only rediscovered in 2012 in Bremen. String Quartet (Study Score) SKU: HL.51487121 Early Viennese Quartets Study Score. Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Edited by Wolf-Dieter Seiffert. Henle Music Folios. Classical. Softcover. G. Henle #HN7121. Published by G. Henle (HL.51487121). UPC: 840126946178. 6.75x9.5x0.299 inches. After Volumes IV and III of the series with Mozart's complete string quartets appeared as Henle Urtext editions in early 2017 and 2019 respectively, Mozart expert Wolf-Dieter Seiffert now presents Volume II. Included are the “Early Viennese Quartets†from 1773, K. 168-173. Entries in the autograph manuscript by the composer's father Leopold, however, suggest that the ordering of the six works into a unified series of quartets was his doing. In his preface, Wolf-Dieter Seiffert shares brand-new findings on the actual chronology of the genesis of these quartets. Moreover, he succeeds in correcting what in prior editions were occasional inaccuracies in dynamics and articulation, thereby producing a new, assured musical text. With artistic input from the Armida Quartet, Volume II of the String Quartets also sets the benchmark in the Mozart Edition! Contents: String Quartet in F Major, K. 168 String Quartet in A Major, K. 169 String Quartet in C Major, K. 170 String Quartet in E-flat Major, K. 171 String Quartet in B-flat Major, K. 172 String Quartet in D minor, K. 173. | Symphony in C Major, Hob. I:90 Orchestra [Study Score / Miniature] G. Henle
Orchestra (Study Score) SKU: HL.51489058 Study Score. Composed by ...(+)
Orchestra (Study Score) SKU: HL.51489058 Study Score. Composed by Franz Joseph Haydn. Edited by Andreas Friesenhagen. Henle Study Scores. Classical. Softcover. 63 pages. G. Henle #HN9058. Published by G. Henle (HL.51489058). UPC: 840126932904. 6.75x9.5x0.232 inches. Ironically enough, Haydn would later sell these three a second time to Prince von Oettingen-Wallerstein who requested he “receive 3 new symphonies from him.†Regardless of such mercantile entanglements, Haydn shows himself to be at the full height of his mastery as a symphonist in these works. According to the autograph manuscript, the Symphony in C major no. 90 was completed in 1788 and highlights its festive character with the addition of timpani and trumpets. This study edition adopts the musical text of the Haydn Complete Edition, thereby guaranteeing the highest scholarly quality. An informative preface and a brief Critical Report make the handy score an ideal companion for all current and soon-to-be Haydn fans. | Vallée d'Obermann Piano solo G. Henle
Piano (Piano Solo) SKU: HL.51481612 For Piano Solo. Composed by Fr...(+)
Piano (Piano Solo) SKU: HL.51481612 For Piano Solo. Composed by Franz Liszt. Edited by Peter Jost. Henle Music Folios. Classical. Softcover. 32 pages. G. Henle #HN1612. Published by G. Henle (HL.51481612). UPC: 196288215820. 9.0x12.0x0.128 inches. Volume I of Liszt's Années de pèlerinage, entitled Suisse, is based on impressions he gathered during an extended sojourn in Switzerland in 1835/36. The most important piece of the collection, first published in 1841, is undoubtedly Vallée dObermann, which offers a vast richness of melodic, harmonic and rhythmic variations on the basis of two contrasting themes. The technically and artistically demanding composition owes its title not to a scenic valley in Switzerland, but to the epistolary novel of the same name by French poet Ãtienne de Senancour. Set in Switzerland, it presents an emotionally torn hero who articulates his weltschmerz in a dialogue with nature. The musical text of this separate edition of Vallée dObermann is preceded by an excerpt from Senancour's novel, which may provide impulses that are just as important for the interpretation as are Francesco Piemontesi's fingerings. | Romanza Andaluza (Spanish Dance No. 3) Op. 22 No. 1 Violin and Piano G. Henle
Strings Piano Accompaniment; Violin (Violin and Piano) - l5 SKU: HL.51481346<...(+)
Strings Piano Accompaniment; Violin (Violin and Piano) - l5 SKU: HL.51481346 Violin and Piano. Edited by Peter Jost. Arranged by Ingolf Turban. Sheet Music. Paperbound. Henle Music Folios. With marked and unmarked string parts. Classical. Softcover. 16 pages. G. Henle #HN1346. Published by G. Henle (HL.51481346). ISBN 9790201813462. UPC: 888680925031. 9.25x12.0x0.066 inches. When composing his Spanish Dances (HN 1370), the composer and violin virtuoso Sarasate united existing material - folk songs and songs by well-known composers - with his own uniquely charming musical language. The two Dances op. 22, “Romanza andaluza†and “JotaNavarra,†were completed in 1878 during Sarasate's first concert tour through Scandinavia. After their initial performances, the lyrical “Romanza†soon outstripped its brilliant sister piece in popularity, and thereafter it was one of Sarasate's compositions that he played most often himself. Since then, this piece has lost nothing of its charm, and it is now available as a stand-alone edition in the Henle catalogue.
