Orchestra SB vocal soli, oboe d'amore, 2 violins, viola, cello (piccolo), basso continuo, organ obligato SKU: CA.3104907 Cantata for the 20th Sunday after Trinity. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Felix Loy. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal. German title: Ich geh und suche mit Verlangen. Sacred vocal music. Study score. Composed 1726. BWV 49. 56 pages. Duration 29 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.049/07. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3104907). ISBN 9790007137465. Language: German/English. The beginning of Cantata no. 49 (I go and search for thee with yearning) may also be the most well-known part of this work: in the introductory sinfonia for organ and orchestra Bach refers back to the final movement of a lost concerto with concertante melody instrument which he later reworked into the Harpsichord Concerto in E major BWV 1053. The cantata, conceived as a composition in dialogue between the faithful soul (soprano) and Jesus (bass), is characterized by the expressiveness of the love poetry from the biblical Song of Songs, which finds its lyrical expression especially in the virtuosity and charm of its instrumentation - a masterpiece in the Bachian art of characterization. (Alfred Durr). Score available separately - see item CA.3104900. $13.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Choral SSAA choir SKU: CF.CM9717 Composed by Mark Burrows. 8 pages. Duration 3 minutes, 7 seconds. Carl Fischer Music #CM9717. Published by Carl Fischer Music (CF.CM9717). ISBN 9781491160961. UPC: 680160919567. Psalm 91:4-5. The Lord will overshadow you with his pinions, and you will find refuge under his wings. His faithfulness will encompass you with a shield. Psalm 91:4-5 To feel safe and to feel cared for, these are two of the great yearnings of the human heart. What a blessing it is, especially during times of distress or uncertainty, to know that we aren't alone, that someone is reaching out to help us and even hold us. It could be a family member or a friend. It could be a still small voice whispering, It's okay. I've got you. It could even be a loving community, like a choir, assuring us that we are known, that we are loved, that we belong. The first word - scapulis - is translated as pinions. On a bird, a pinion is the outer part of the wing, including the flight feathers. The opening measures, with a one-measure phrase followed be a three-measure phrase, are meant to evoke the image of wings unfurling to welcome in. All through this section - mm. 1-20 - encourage phrasing that is never hurried but moves with intention to the last stressed syllable of each phrase, before ebbing slightly. This section is all about reassurance and comfort. In mm. 21-30 we have a new section where uncertainty grows. At this point the text - and you will find refuge under his wings - is more aspirational than definitive. Leaning into non-chord tones will help make this feeling of uncertainty more palpable. Places where this occurs: Alto I - Measure 22 the Ab in pennis, m. 26 the Bb in sperabis Soprano II - Measure 23 the A natural in pennis, m. 29 the C in sperabis Soprano I - Measure 24 the C in pennis, m. 28 the D in sperabis The apex of the piece is at m. 30 where the yearning for comfort and assurance reaches its height, finding that comfort in the arrival back at Eb major in m. 39. The phrase veritas ejus (his faithfulness), with its triplet figure should flow gently, like a musical carress. The final reassurance occurs at m. 51 as we return to the melody, and the homophonic texture, of the opening. Even as the piece gets softer and softer, encourage the singers to keep energy moving through each phrase. The structure and feel of this piece was inspired by one of the all-time great settings of yet another Psalm of assurance - Felix Mendelssohn's Lift Thine Eyes. The Lord will overshadow you with his pinions, and you will find refuge under his wings. His faithfulness will encompass you with a shield. Choral 3-part choir mixed Voices, Piano SKU: CF.CM9643 Composed by Traditional Spiritual. Arranged by Catherine DeLanoy. Fold. Performance Score. 12 pages. Duration 2:30. Carl Fischer Music #CM9643. Published by Carl Fischer Music (CF.CM9643). ISBN 9781491157152. UPC: 680160915712. 6.875 x 10.5 inches. Key: F major. English, English. Traditional Spiritual. For the emerging mixed choir, Delanoy's arrangement of this timeless spiritual favorite offers energy, variety and is sure to inspire through its uplifting melody of hope and determination for a better life -no matter the obstacle. Concert and festival approved!. Let Me Fly is an American spiritual which, on the surface, tells of a yearning for the promised land of heaven. On a deeper level, its early singers envisioned an escape from slavery, with the Underground Railroad serving as the chariot. In either case, the song is an uplifting melody of hope and determination for a better life, no matter the obstacle. Please take note of the layered section in mm. 55-62, which starts with Part II, adds Part I in m. 57, and completes the layering with Part III at m. 59. The repeated measures of 59-60 allow for an accompanist or soloist to improvise while the choir sings and claps along for as many repeats as desired. The number of repeats is up to the discretion of the conductor. If there is no improvisation, it is recommended that mm. 59-60 be sung three times before moving on. In December of 2020, after almost a year of living socially distanced, isolated, and not knowing when we would return to life as we knew it, I began to think about what life used to look like. I realized that I sometimes might have taken all the beautiful things in my life for granted. Personally, the year 2020 was a time of loss where someone close to me left, and at the same time, I was also able to have other successes. This dichotomy inspired me to realize that there is hope in all that we do; it is how we perceive life. Boundless Hope represents my thoughts, feelings, and emotions during this time. The piece is roughly based on the Lydian mode, introducing the raised fourth degree in m. 2 of the mallet percussion and then at m. 15 in the main melody. The Lydian mode naturally gives a sense of positivity, hopefulness, inspiration, and heavenly colors. That was my exact intention with this piece: using the mode to define the mood showing gratitude for all that we have, and yearning to return to normalcy with a new and fresh perspective. Measure 30 should be slightly faster, followed by a rit. into the grandiose recapitulation of the theme in m. 38. At m. 45, the wind chimes should start before the clarinet entrance, with the subsequent measures representing dark and warm colors. This piece is very personal to me, and I appreciate you playing the composition. Lyrics from the death mass and by Bengt Pohjanen in English translation by John Hearne.
Fredrik Sixten: When my dear friend Patrik Runeke became seriously ill and died - only 37 years old - feelings and thoughts concering life and death overwhelmed me. It was natural for me to turn to Bengt Pohjanen, with whom I had collaborated earlier, to ask him to formulate: * words of anger and of gratitude * words of guilt and of forgiveness * words of consolation, of love and hope. These words of Bengt's, in combination with the classical texts from the Latin Requiem Mass, form a kind of testament to mankind's yearning for unity and perfection. In the final movement, In Paradisum, this yearning is borne forth to the God whom Bengt describes as being: Wisdom deep and loving. Stronger than death. | Ave Maria Choral SATB SATB divisi, A Cappella - Intermediate Laurendale Associates
SATB choir divisi (a cappella) - Late Intermediate SKU: MN.CH-1296 Compos...(+)
SATB choir divisi (a cappella) - Late Intermediate SKU: MN.CH-1296 Composed by Andrew Bonacci. Catholic Year A Immaculate Conception. 21st Century. Choral score. Laurendale Associates #CH-1296. Published by Laurendale Associates (MN.CH-1296). UPC: 765844005764. Ave Maria was composed for the University of Kansas Choirs, and dedicated with appreciation to Simon Carrington (Kings Singers). It was premiered by the Oread Consort at Edington Priori Church in Wiltshire, England in May of 1997. The Gregg Smith Singers brought new life to this work at the 2000 Adirondack Festival of American Music in Saranac Lake, and followed with a recording on the Living Artist series. This piece was inspired by Gyorgy Ligeti's setting of Lux Aeterna (1966), as well as by Giuseppe Verdi's Ave Maria, the scala enigmatica armonizzata a Quattro voci (1898). It is shaped by a series of breath-like harmonic swells leading to climactic homophonic statements of the text, with strident voice pairings yearning for resolution. New York writer Watson Bosler describes the work as an iridescent wash of color as an intricate web of interrelated melodic and rhythmic themesThis Ave hymns not the sugar-water Virgin of Gounod or Scott, but rather the powerful Goddess Yeats depicts: The Roman Empire stood appalled:/ It dropped the reins of peace and war/ When that fierce virgin and her Star/ Out of the fabulous darkness called. $4.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

| Dearest Jesus, sore I need Thee (Liebster Jesu, mein Verlangen) Choral SATB Carus Verlag
SB vocal soli, SATB choir, oboe, 2 violins, viola, basso continuo SKU: CA.310...(+)
SB vocal soli, SATB choir, oboe, 2 violins, viola, basso continuo SKU: CA.3103212 Cantata for the 1st Sunday after Epiphany. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Hans Grischkat. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Bach vocal. German title: Liebster Jesu. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Epiphany. Single Part, Violin 2. Composed 1726. BWV 32. 4 pages. Duration 24 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.032/12. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3103212). ISBN 9790007042516. Key: E minor / g major. Language: German/English. Text: Lehms, Georg Christian. Text: Georg Christian Lehms. The text of the cantata Dearest Jesus, sore I need Thee for the 1st Epiphany Sunday 1726 was written by the Darmstadt poet Georg Christian Lehms. It is conceived as a dialog between Jesus and the Faithful Soul. Bach titled his cantata Concerto in Dialogo and accordingly, it is structured as a dialog between soprano and bass, set in the voice types that were - not only for Bach - typically used for the soul (soprano) and Jesus (bass). The cantata is based on the narrative of the twelve-year-old boy Jesus in the temple; however, in spite of closely following the gospel text, it is interpreted more widely here: it is through Jesus that the believer finds God's dwelling. Bach creates a great arch from the opening aria full of yearning and searching through to the joyful duet Nun verschwinden alle Plagen. He himself added the four-part closing chorale to the text model, thus communicating the sense of joyous certainty to the congregation of believers.
