The Fuzzsquatch
Fuzzdrive will make your
rig roar! This hulking
humanoid harnesses the
unique power of
operational amplifiers
(op-amps) to craft its
signature sustained
distortion. Featuring
expansive tone-shaping
capabilities and a
character all its own,
the Fuzzsquatch promises
to transport you to a
realm of colossal fuzz
tone nirvana! The
Fuzzsquatch Fuzzdrive is
a recreation of the
Electro-Harmonix Big Muff
Pi, first released in
1969. Originally marketed
as a “harmonic
distortion
sustain,†it has
been lumped together with
fuzz effects, although
it's a very different
animal than classic fuzz
effects like a Fuzz Face
or a Tone Bender. The
circuitry of the
Fuzzsquatch Fuzzdrive
differs from the
traditional
transistor-based Big Muff
circuit in that it uses
operational amplifiers
(op-amps) to achieve its
signature sustaining
sound. With
widely-sweeping tone
controls and a character
all its own, the
Fuzzsquatch Fuzzdrive
will surely be a
formidable addition to
your sonic arsenal.

The piece
reflects the composer's
fascination with the
origins of the universe
and deep space in
general. The title comes
from a theory, formulated
by Pythagoras, that the
cosmos was ruled by the
same laws he had
discovered that govern
the ratios of note
frequencies of the
musical scale.
(‘Harmonia’
in Ancient Greek, which
means scale or tuning
rather than harmony -
Greek music was
monophonic). He also
believed that these
ratios corresponded to
the distances of the six
known planets from the
sun and that the planets
each produced a musical
note which combined to
weave a continuous
heavenly melody (which,
unfortunately, we humans
cannot hear). In this
work, these six notesform
the basis of the sections
MUSIC OF THE SPHERES and
HARMONIA. The pieces
opens with a horn solo
called t = 0, a name
given by some scientists
to the moment of the Big
Bang when time and space
were created, and this is
followed by a depiction
of the BIG BANG itself,
as the entire universe
bursts out from a single
point. A slower section
follows called THE LONELY
PLANET which is a
meditation on the
incredible and unlikely
set of circumstances
which led to the creation
of the Earth as a planet
that can support life,
and the constant search
for other civilisations
elsewhere in the
universe. ASTEROIDS AND
SHOOTING STARS depicts
both the benign and
dangerous objects that
are flying through space
and which constantly
threaten our planet, and
the piece ends with THE
UNKNOWN, leaving in
question whether our
continually expanding
exploration of the
universe will eventually
lead to enlightenment or
destruction.
Dit
werk weerspiegelt de
fascinatie van de
componist voor het
heelal. Het begint met
een hoornsolo met de naam
t = 0, waarmee
sommige wetenschappers de

volgt een weergave van de
oerknal zelf. Het
volgendegedeelte, The
Lonely Planet, is een

van de Aarde.
Asteroids and Shooting

Music of the

fascino che le origini

Sparke. Il titolo

della scala musicale.
Questa composizione
inizia con un assolo di
corno chiamato t = 0,
nozione che definisce il

In
this powerful offering
from Mark Hayes, we
journey with Christ
through Holy Week,
experiencing momentous
events that changed
history for all of
humankind. Mark's
distinctive compositional
voice adds to the drama
of the work. Masterful
arrangements of Twila
Paris's Lamb of God and
Keith Getty and Stuart
Townend's The Power of
the Cross, along with an
unforgettable mezzo
soprano solo inspired by
Michelangelo's Pieta,
contribute to a truly
compelling work for
Easter worship. This work
may be performed during
Holy Week by excluding
the final movement or in
its entirety for Easter
and Eastertide. The
beautiful piano
accompaniment reflects
Mark's keyboard artistry,
and his masterful
orchestration offers an
added dimension to the
drama. The Power of the
Cross provides an artful
and poignant reminder of
Christ's sacrifice of
love, His triumph over
death, and His promise of
redemption for us
all.

The 3rd
String Quartet was
originally composed in
1982-3 to a commission
from The Adelaide
Festival, and premiered
by The Petra Quartet in
1983. Subsequent to this
quartet, I have composed
two more; No. 4 in 1986
and No. 5 in 2002.The
offer to re-publish this
work, led me to begin by
a process of amendment,
but ended in the
composition of a
virtually new quartet!
Only parts of the
original quartet have
been retained. I also
chose to 'frame' (in my
case this means an
inspirational focus and
filter), the quartet in a
new way too.In Flight
Music keeps the
4-movement format of the
original quartet, but is
now directly linked to a
life-long interest in
flight. The first two
movements are concerned
with aspects of humans in
flight, whilst the last
two deal with insects and
birds respectively.Since
all my music is these
days preceded by
visualisations in the
form of drawings,
wherever possible, this
quartet might be
performed with the four
drawings, one for each
movement, back-projected
behind the
players.Digital copies of
these drawings may be

Warum
gerade ein
Orchester-Liederzyklus
nach Celan-Gedichten zum
Beethoven-Jubilaum 2002?
Was verbindet die
humanistischen Ideen des
genialen Klassikers mit
dem gespaltenen
Menschenbild eines der
bedeutendsten Lyriker des
20. Jahrhunderts?
Vielleicht die Gestaltung
des Aussergewohnlichen in
Wort und Ton? - oder die
innere Einsamkeit des
grossen Kunstlertums? Der
mir zum diesjahrigen
Bonner Beethovenfest
gegebene
Kompositionsauftrag war
an kein bestimmtes Thema
gebunden. Beim Nachdenken
uber einen sinnvollen
Beitrag mit
Beethoven-Bezug erinnerte
ich mich an mein 1967
komponiertes Werk Mit
wechselndem Schlussel ,
Lieder nach Paul Celan
fur Bariton und Klavier
(aus Celans Gedichtbanden
,,Mohn und ,,Gedachtnis
und ,,Von Schwelle zu
Schwelle), entstanden
wahrend einer sehr
progressiven
Schaffensperiode,
inspiriert von Versen,
die Vergangenheit und
Gegenwart poetisch
verschlusselt miteinander
verknupfen. Langer schon
plante ich, diesen Zyklus
zu orchestrieren - das
schien mir jetzt der
geeignete Ansatz zur
Erfullung meines
Auftrags, denn ich wollte
zugleich das Werk formal
anders gestalten, die
sieben einzelnen Gesange
unter einem grossen
symphonischen Bogen
zusammenfassen. So
entstand ein ganz neues
Opus - eine Art
Solo-Kantate fur
Singstimme und Orchester
- durchaus im
Beethovenschen Sinn und
Geist, da ich mich
wahrend der Ausarbeitung
der neuen Fassung von
Kompositions- und
Instrumentations-Ideen
und -Prozessen aus
Beethoven-Symphonien
anregen liess. So zum
Beispiel bei der
Durchfuhrung von
charakteristischen
Motiven und Strukturen:
im Prolog und im ersten
Lied (Kristall), oder bei
der Gestaltung
dramatischer
Bewegungsablaufe - etwa
im vierten Lied (In
Gestalt eines Ebers), bei
der Darstellung
kammermusikalisch-lyrisch
er Stimmungen im funften
Lied (Nachts) und bei
titanischen
Klangausbruchen im
Schlussgesang (An den
langen Tischen der Zeit),
schliesslich bei der
formalen Gliederung des
ganzen Werks in funf
symmetrisch angeordnete,
grossere Satze. Fazit:
ein Beitrag zur Synthese
von zeitgenossischer
Lyrik und Musik im Geiste
Beethovens. (Jurg Baur,

Beethoven and Brahms, a
long neglected
workSchumann's last work

its premiere until 1937,
at which time it was also
released in an
editorially inadequate

of Schumann's late oeuvre

the wake of which the
missing link between the
concertos of Beethoven

increasing attention.
Since then, those in the

appreciate the work,
whose unique musical and
technical demands

of what is perhaps the
most underestimated
masterpiece of the
Romantic era is the first

incredible is the fact

Thomas Zehetmair, who has
significantly contributed
to the re-assessment of
the concerto, assumed the
task of providing a sound

will help stimulate
awareness and
appreciation of this
unjustly forgotten
