'Cette transcription a été faite d’après le manuscrit original « Sei Solo a violino Senza Basso accompagnato », plus communément connues comme les sonates et partitas pour violon seul, ma source étant la version copiée par Anna Magdalena Bach. Les nuances et articulations proposées sont fidèles au manuscrit, autant que possible. Je n’en ai ajouté aucune, afin de donner toute la liberté nécessaire à l’interprétation de cette musique si riche. Les articulations du manuscrit guident les violonistes dans le choix des coups d’archet, à vous de vous en inspirer ou de les modifier à votre guise. Les double-cordes, de même que les accords (joués ‘en arpèges’ par les violonistes), sont reproduites avec des notes en appoggiature ou en arpèges. Je suis conscient que, pour la plupart des clarinettistes, le fait de jouer sur une partition exempte d’indication de tempi, nuances, articulations, respirations, est quelque peu déroutant. C’est justement, selon moi, toute la richesse de cette version proche de l’original. Vous pourrez explorer cette œuvre fabuleuse, affiner votre technique de jeu (certains passages sont particulièrement difficiles) et développer votre propre interprétation. This one-movement piece with a duration of 11 minutes stems from the estate of Giselher Klebe who died in 2009. The work is delightful to play, rich in gesture, easy on the ear and ideal for private music making. From '44 Duos For Two Violins'. Par BARTOK BELA. Béla Bartók (1881-1945) composed his 44 Duos for Two Violins in 1931. These unique musical miniatures combine folk melodies from Eastern Europe with the musical language of the twentieth century in an exciting blend of tradition and modernity. For the present edition Marcin Langer arranged twenty of these duos for Bb clarinets. The pieces allow players to share the pleasure of chamber music while exploring this fascinating sound world. All the duos sound at the original pitch and can thus be performed by a clarinet and violin. Most of the duets can also be played by a clarinet and alto saxophone combination (nos. 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 16, 17). Par LUTOSLAWSKI WITOLD. Subito ? literally meaning ?suddenly? ? is a virtuosic scherzo filled with dazzling colours. The title itself defines the character of this work. Its expression is shaped by violent changes of tempo and dynamics, clashes between brilliant passagework and distinct articulation, on the one hand, and lyrical phrases, on the other, and a constant contrast between intense sonorities and light textures. The work?s concise form consigns it to the catalogue of so-called miniature pieces. Subito for violin and piano was composed in 1992 for the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. This arrangement for clarinet expands the instrument?s solo repertoire with a work of the highest compositional calibre, representing a mature stage in Witold Lutoslawski?s oeuvre. Among clarinettists, the composer is known principally for the Dance Preludes, which appear both on concert bills and also on the programmes of competitions and auditions. He was appointed as concertmaster of the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig when Mendelssohn, a childhood friend, became the principal conductor in 1835. This Concertino for bassoon also exists in a version for viola, and now subsequently this edition for bass clarinet. It is a fun solo in two parts, first an aria-like melody, followed by a technical 'Presto agitato.' The key has been kept the same asthe original version, and although it is preferred to perform with an extended range instrument, indications are made for adapting it to a standard range bass clarinet.
