A big, bold
piano introduction sets
the stage for this
powerful original,
inspirational song.
“Let the Harmonies
of Freedom ring†is
a message for this time

feel of this song give
the lyrics clarity, and
an a cappella section
following a thrilling
modulation make this a
worthy closing to your
concert.

Revised Order of Mass
2010, Lectionary for
Mass
A worthy
successor to Mass of Joy
and Peace—Tony
Alonso’s
bestselling
setting—Mass of
Christ, Light of the
Nations is a compelling
stylistic contrast that
demonstrates his
continued commitment to
well-crafted ritual music
that inspires the
participation of the
liturgical assembly. Mass
of Christ, Light of the
Nations offers two
compelling versions of
the Gloria—one in
a verse/ refrain style
and one through-composed.
Both set a celebratory
tone that will engage and
gratify your assembly.
The strong musical lines,
repeating melodic themes,
and comfortable singing
ranges throughout will
enable your community to
learn this setting with
ease. Scored for SAB
choir and descant, two C
instruments, trumpet,
cello, piano or organ and
guitar, Mass of Christ,
Light of the Nations
offers a wide variety of
texture possibilities and
is an effective setting
for any ensemble. It will
quickly become a favorite
that you return to
continually throughout
the liturgical year. This
is the assembly edition
and contains only melody
lines for congregational
singing.

Jesu,
meine Freude was composed
sometime between 1723 and
1727, most likely for the
St. Thomas Church in
Leipzig. It is the
longest and most
musically complex of
Bach's six motets,
originally for 5-part
choir comprising eleven
movements. Mr. Sauer has
done a magnificent job
transcribing all six of
Bach's choral motets BWV
225-230 for 8-part
Trombone Ensemble. This
is a major undertaking.
All are very worthy
additions to the Trombone
Ensemble repertoire. This
work for 8-part Trombone
ensemble of eleven
movements is about 19
minutes in length.
Because of its length, it
is possible to divide the
music into three sections
and perform each section
separately. This music is
appropriate for advanced
performers. The top two
voices have parts
supplied in both alto and
tenor clef.

“Sain
t Francis of Assisi is an
Opera in three acts by
Olivier Messiaen
(1908-1992). Written in
1972 to 1983, it concerns
the Catholic preacher,
Saint Francis of Assisi,
and displays the
composer's devout
Catholic faith. The third
volume contains the
complete third act of the
Opera, comprising the
final two scenes; Stigma,
and Death and New Life.
Despite his studies of
Mozart and Wagner's
operas, Messiaen vowed
that he would never
compose one himself,
however, he was
eventually convinced by
the French president.
After feeling unworthy to
dramatise either Christ's
Passion or Resurrection,
he eventually chose to
portray the life of Saint
Francis of Assisi, whose
life often reflected
Christ's chastity,
humility, poverty and
suffering. This unique
Opera by the individual
Messiaen is a significant
contribution to the
repertoire, and was
notably semi-staged as
part of the BBC proms
series in
2008.&rdquo.

number of his pieces
until he deemed them
worthy to be published.
The path to his first
Piano Trio was
particularly rocky: only
after several attempts
was he able to complete
it in the summer of 1839;
it appeared in 1840 after
further revisions. This
perfectionism paid off,
for Mendelssohn's D Minor
Trio was immediately
received with enthusiasm.
Robert Schumann wrote:
“It is the master
trio of the present day,
like those of Beethoven
in Bb and D and that of
Franz Schubert in Eb were
in their time; a very
beautiful composition
which after years will
still delight
grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.â€
Which was to prove
true: even today, it
numbers among the most
popular works in the trio
repertoire in general.
The trio, taken from the
volume Mendelssohn

from Henle for the first
time also as a practical
single edition.
