Par VOSS RICHARD. Turlough O'Carolan est né dans le comté de Meath en Irlande en 1670. Il a été formé comme un jeune à jouer de la harpe et tout au long de sa vie composé un grand nombre de chansons. O'Carolan a développé un style personnel, contenant les éléments mélodiques de musique irlandaise de folk, la musique de harpe courtois et la musique baroque italienne. Musique de O'Carolan n'a été publiée au cours de sa vie - donc, diverses versions de ses mélodies ont été prononcées par le biais de la tradition aural. On ne sait pas aussi comment il accompagne ses mélodies. Cette collection présente 39 mélodies préférées de O'Carolan facilement jouables, animés d'accords pour enregistreur alto (treble), avec les accords de guitare ci-dessus les douves. Beautiful Airs and Ballads of the British Isles. Par DIEHL MARCIA. This exceptional collection of 41 truly beautiful airs and ballads from the British Isles offers both well-known tunes by the prolific blind Irish harpist, Turlough O?Carolan and rarely heard melodies by anonymous composers; all have stood the test of time. Arranged for soprano or tenor recorder, these include O?Carolan?s classically influenced ?Lord Inchiquin? and ?Eleanor Plunkett? as well as ?O Gentle Dove? and ?Cuckoo Dear?? both examples of the strong tradition of song in Wales. Among other tunes, the haunting modal melodies of ?The Dark Slender Boy? and ?Enchanted Valley? express the melancholic heart and soul of the British Isles. A few of these songs have taken on a life of their own in modern times. ?Bonny at Morn?, a popular traditional tune of northern England and Scotland, was arranged for soprano voice and harp by the 20th century British composer, Benjamin Britten. ?The Skye Boat Song? originally recounted Bonnie Prince Charles Edward Stuart?s journey to the Isle of Skye after his defeat at the historic Battle of Culloden. Later, the song evolved into a lilting lullaby and was more recently used as the theme song for the popular Outlander television series. He was trained as a youth to play the harp, and throughout his life composed a large number of songs. O'Carolan developed a personal style, containing melodic elements of Irish folk music, courtly harp music and Italian baroque music. O'Carolan's music was not published during his lifetime; therefore, various versions of his melodies have been handed down through the aural tradition. It is also not known how he accompanied his melodies. This collection presents 39 favorite O'Carolan melodies in easily playable, lively arrangements for alto (treble) recorder, with guitar chords above the staves. Included are four original melodies by Richard Voss inspired by and in the style of the early master.
