For
Teresa was
commissioned by Tim Suter
for his wife, Helen, as
part of William
Howard’s Love Songs
Project and was first
performed privately by
William Howard for her
60th birthday in February
2017. He gave the public
premiere at Hoxton Hall,
London on 26th April
2017. The music is based
on the notes T E S (E
flat) A of the Christian
name of the
composer’s wife,
Teresa Cahill. The
music works towards a
quotation of the opening
of Beethoven’s
Bagatelle No. 25 in A
minor, Für
Elise (which also
uses letters from the
name Therese, H being B
natural in German
nomenclature), a piece
which, it is now thought,
was
originallytitled
Für Therese
and possibly
composed for Theresa
Malfatti, to whom
Beethoven unsuccessfully
proposed marriage in
1810, but recent
musicology has suggested
other possible
dedicatees.

Jindrich
Feld (1925-2007), one of
the outstanding Czech
composers of the 20th
century, studied
composition and
musicology at the Academy
of Music and the Charles
University in Prague and
taught at the Prague
Conservatoire as
professor of composition
from 1972-86. After the
democratization of the
Czech Republic, he took
part in many music
associations and
committees and since 1992
was the director of the
music department of the
Czech Radio for a few
years. His comprehensive
oeuvre comprises above
all orchestral and
chamber music works. The
Wind Trio from 1987, now
published for the first
time, ideally combines
the eagerness to
experiment with the
classical form, giving
the players rewarding,
sometimes rhythmically
subtle and playful
virtuoso tasks. Suited
for concerts and
competitions.

To go
on a time travel once in
your life is a dream of
many children - for Clara
and Frederik too. They
both love music above all
else, and so they
undertake an exciting
travel through music
history: from the Stone
Age to the present
day.But how does one
travel into the Stone
Age? A time-travel
machine may be helpful -
but this is all that is
revealed for nowAfter
each time travel the
reader gets a lot of
valuable and interesting
information: Which
instruments were played
at the gladiator fights
in ancient Rome? Was
Richard Wagner actually
wanted under
arrest-warrant? What is
the origin of the
musical?The answers to
these and other questions
are given in the
narrative text as well as
on the attractively
designed info pages. In
addition to such
information, this edition
contains a quiz to test
your knowledge and
amusing stories about
great composers.With a
foreword by Anne-Sophie

musicology at the Hanover

Harr
i Vuori's Chiroptera
(2017) for guitar
embraces the instrument
with several
compositional solutions
born from the attributes
of the guitar. Dedicated
to Patrik Kleemola this
12 minutes work is
devided in three
movements. The textures
of Chiroptera are complex
but their build-up,
fade-out, measuring and
timing of these changes
is clearly defined and
understandable. According
to the composer the name
Chiroptera has the same
beautiful sound as the
composition in whole. In
addition he currently
lives in an area
populated with lots of
bats both in the woods
and in the atticks. Harri
Vuori (b. 1957) studied
composition with Paavo
Heininen, Eero
Hameenniemi and
Einojuhani Rautavaara at
the Sibelius Academy. He
has been composer in
residence of the Hyvinkaa
