The

regarded as the high
point in Michael
Praetorius's output. It
combines Solennische

Praetorius as a
travelling musician had
composed largely for
festive occasions - he
writes of Kayser: Konig:

these chorale concerti
the highly modern,
Italian style and the
Protestant chorale

The chorale settings draw
on influences from
Venetian polychoral

employ obbligato

which is beyond compare,
even in contemporary
Italy. Here we see a
quite different side of
the master from the
composer of Es ist ein

above all, Praetorius
always remains a
practical musician who
ensures that these
breathtaking choral
concerti can also be
effectively performed
with smaller forces,
sometimes considerably
reduced ones. Praetorius
gives the verses of the
well-known Easter hymn
Christ ist erstanden to
the concertists (soloists

perform these in
alternating scorings. At
the beginning, between
the verses, and at the
end, a magnificent
Halleluja occurs as a
ritornello, which can be
performed by up to 5

Joseph Haydn
made two settings of the
Ambrosian song of praise
the Te Deum. The second
of these is a work of
Haydn's last period and
was written around 1800
for the Empress Marie
Therese. Its large
orchestra gives this
work, which makes no use
of solo singers, a
particular splendour of
sound akin to that of the
choruses in Haydn's
Creation. Score and part

Faster and
easier Cable-free DJing
without sound delays is
now possible with the
WAVE-EIGHT thanks to
SonicLink. This new
ultra-low-latency
technology wirelessly
transmits audio much
faster than a Bluetooth
connection so only a
fraction of a second
passes between pressing
play on the decks and
hearing the track through
the speakers, which lets
you mix without missing a
beat. Take the included
transmitter out of its
storage compartment on
the WAVE-EIGHT and
connect it to your DJ
gear, and you can
instantly create a
wireless connection,
enabling you to throw a
DJ party anywhere you
want. And if you combine
the WAVE-EIGHT with the
new OMNIS-DUO portable
all-in-one DJ system,
which features battery
power, you can play
cable-free for total
freedom. Professional
sound with effortless
setup With a highly
efficient Class D
amplifier, a newly
designed 8-inch driver,
and a Vortex Bass
Accelerator which
delivers clear and
powerful bass, the
WAVE-EIGHT will bring the
vibes and the punch to
your party's sound, even
in outdoor settings. To
cover larger events and
spaces, you can easily
add more units to your
setup with the SonicLink
connection: e.g., using 2
speakers in stereo for an
expansive experience, or
with a third added as a
dedicated subwoofer for a
club-like heavy bass
sound. There are even
several modes you can
change between with a
single switch to create
the type of sound you
need, including Mono,
Stereo, and Subwoofer
mode. Battery power and
waterproof design for
outdoor events A full
battery charge gives you
8 hours of music on the
WAVE-EIGHT so you can
keep the tunes going
throughout the evening
and night. The unit is
also waterproof, with an
IPX4 rating, so it's
ideal for using outdoors.
And, if you need to
charge your phone or
another device, you can
plug it into the USB
Type-C port. Find party
venues wherever you go
The extendable handle,
casters, and additional
grab handles make it easy
to carry the WAVE-EIGHT
to any location on your
own. There's a pole
socket built-in, too, so
you can mount the speaker
on a stand for extra
height, making it ideal
for use in a variety of
locations.

John Van
Buren's Gloria was
composed in 1996 for the
Maulbronner Kammerchor,
which introduced this
work in Germany and on
tours to Russia and
Argentina. It has since
also been heard in Italy,
Holland and the USA. John
Van Buren writes about
his work: The beginning
of my Gloria is initially
very restrained, even
cautious. It is extremely
chromatic, the sound only
gradually opening out to
become a song of praise.
The work grows in a
steady crescendo until it
arrives at an 8-part
fortissimo sound (B
major). Finally, the
expression of great
vitality gives place to a
soprano melody which
floats calmly above the
choral sound, and the
work dies away
pianissimo.

In
the mid-1990s in Memphis,
Tennessee, the Alabama
cellist Craig Hultgren
performed my trio Two
Poems (1989) with such
dedication, brilliance,
and comprehension that I
vowed to write him a solo
work in gratitude for his
labors. Chambers of the
Twilight is the result.
The single-movement essay
is through-composed -- it
was written in one long
day -- and entirely
constructed from the
juxtapositions,
repetitions, and
variations of three brief
gestures announced by the
soloist in the opening
measures. The separation
and congealing of these
three musical events --
alternatively dramatic,
melodic/misterioso, and
violent -- provide the
genesis for all of the
ensuing sonic material.
An extended coda --
marked delicato e lontano
in the score -- gives way
to large pizzicato chords
which bring the piece to
a close. The work
exploits fully the
dynamic range and
registral capabilities of
the cello, placing
considerable demands on
the dexterity and stamina
of the soloist. Chambers
of the Twilight is
approximately fifteen
minutes in duration. The
score was composed on
April 2, 2001, in
Ormond-by-the-Sea,
Florida, and was written
for the 2001 Hultgren
Solo Cello Works
Biennial. It is composed
in loving memory of my
maternal grandfather
Ernest A. Pilgrim, a fine
sculptor and
bridge-builder, and is
dedicated, with thanks,
to Mr. Hultgren.

quite different side of
the master from the
composer of Es ist ein
Ros entsprungen. And
above all, Praetorius
always remains a
practical musician who
ensures that these
breathtaking choral
concerti can also be
effectively performed
with smaller forces,
sometimes considerably
reduced ones. Praetorius
gives the verses of the
well-known Easter hymn
Christ ist erstanden to
the concertists (soloists
or small choir), who can
perform these in
alternating scorings. At
the beginning, between
the verses, and at the
end, a magnificent
Halleluja occurs as a
ritornello, which can be
performed by up to 5
choirs - ad lib, of
course. Score and part
available separately -

The cantata
Nun komm der Heiden
Heiland (TWV 1:1174) is
taken from
Telemann’s cantata
cycle of 1717–18.
Though festively scored
for two oboes, two
trumpets, kettledrums,
strings and basso
continuo, it will not
overly strain the
financial resources of
today’s
ensembles.
The
well-known chorale tune
features prominantly in
all choruses. Telemann
gives one aria each to
the three soloists (SAB).
Thanks to the relatively
small instrumental
ensemble, the choral
passages can be taken one
to a part. The vocal
score appears with a
singing translation in
English.
