Over the Rainbow is a standard that has become forever associated with its most famous interpreter, Judy Garland. Her troubled adult years only added poignancy to her guileless interpretation of the song, preserved on celluloid in The Wizard of Oz when she was seventeen. Commandé par la Camerata vocale Limbourg, cette pièce utilise un texte sacré de 'Ecclésiaste' dans la version de la Bible de Zurich de 1931. Le texte est composé de quatre parties différentes et mis en musique avec différents moyens musicales. Le premier mouvement, le vent a été composé pour deux choeurs de mâle-voix de trois parties. La musique suit de près la déclamation naturelle du texte, souvent sous la forme d'un canon entre les deux choeurs et la voix différentes. Le second mouvement Licht est écrite pour quatre parties. La lumière est présentée dans un tempo lent (poco rubato), souvent dans des registres de falsetto élevé. Sauf pour une forte explosion quand vient de ténèbres, le son est très souple et douce. Le troisième mouvement est appelé Jugend et doit être effectué par un soliste ténor jeune, enthousiaste et insouciante. Le texte est basé sur de nombreux dactyles qui donne le rythme une fraîcheur juvénile. Le quatrième mouvement Alter raconte comment l'âge progresse jusqu'à la fin.
