Ibrahim Maalouf revient donc à ses origines et à l?essentiel : une trompette, unaccompagnement et 40 mélodies, pour fêter ses 40 ans.
Né à Beyrouth en 1980, Ibrahim Maalouf est aujourd?hui l?instrumentiste le plus populaire de la scène musicale française. Son travail de métissage des genres est reconnu partout dans le monde depuis plus de 10 ans.
Remplissant le Volkswagen Arena d?Istanbul, faisant des concerts sold out au Lincoln Jazz Center de New York, et voyageant à travers plus de 40 pays dans le monde ces 10 dernières années, il devient le premier jazzman de l?histoire à remplir la plus grande salle de concert de France. En effet, Ibrahim fait un show historique le 14 décembre 2016 affichant complet plus de 8 mois à l?avance à l?AccorHotels Arena de Paris Bercy.
Quelques mois plus tard, Ibrahim crée la surprise. Qualifié de « virtuose » par le New York Times, il se produit lors d'un concert exceptionnel en collaboration avec The New Levant Initiative, au Kennedy Center de Washington DC, pour la création mondiale de son album « Levantine Symphony No.1 ».
Ibrahim est récompensé par 2 « Victoires du Jazz » ainsi que 2 « Victoires de la Musique » (« Album Musique du monde » et « Concert ou tournée de l?année » qui par ailleurs sont les premières récompenses des victoires de la musique décernées à un instrumentiste depuis leur création il y a plus de 33 ans. Ibrahim a reçu également un « Echo Jazz » en Allemagne, un « César de la Meilleure Musique de Film » et un « Prix Lumières » pour la meilleure musique de film en 2016. Il reçoit également les prix honorifiques de Chevalier de l?Ordre du Mérite, et Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres du gouvernement français.
Adolescent, Ibrahim arrivait en tête des plus grands concours internationaux au monde et débutait une carrière de soliste classique, mais à partir des années 2000, repéré pour sa capacité à colorer les musiques de ses improvisations, il devient incontournable autant dans la pop, le jazz que dans le domaine des musiques dites « du Monde ». Sting, Salif Keita, Amadou and Mariam, Tryo, Matthieu Chédid, Lhasa de Sela et de nombreux artistes de styles très variés font appel à lui.
Entre 2007 et 2019, Ibrahim produit, compose, arrange et réalise plus de 15 albums pour lui et pour d?autres artistes. Il compose également plus de 10 ?uvres symphoniques ainsi qu?une quinzaine de musiques de longs métrages.
Repéré par le producteur mythique Quincy Jones lors d?un concert au Montreux Jazz Festival en 2017, Ibrahim devient l?un des artistes que le producteur américain encourage régulièrement via la Quincy Jones Productions basée à Los Angeles.
En 2019, Ibrahim signe les bandes originales de 3 films dont « Celle Que Vous Croyez » de Safy Nebbou avec Juliette Binoche, véritable succès à l?international puis il part en tournée d?été à travers la France avec la fanfare balkanique Haïdouti Orkestar.
Ibrahim enchaîne ensuite avec son 11ème album studio « S3NS » en septembre 2019 et se produit à cette occasion à l?Olympia (Paris) les 23, 24 et 25 septembre à guichets fermés et enchaîne une tournée mondiale.
Parallèlement Ibrahim enseigne la trompette et l?improvisation dans les conservatoires depuis 1999. Il a été plusieurs fois invité par ITG (International Trumpet Guild) aux Etats Unis pour des concerts et master classes, et développe depuis plusieurs années une pédagogie spécifique à l?enseignement de l?improvisation musicale classique au sein des conservatoires français.
Sa dernière collaboration pédagogique remonte à l?automne 2019 où tous les jeunes élèves de l?association Orchestre à l?Ecole composée de plusieurs milliers d?orchestres à travers la France ont rejoint Ibrahim à tous ses concerts en Zenith afin de monter sur scène pour la première fois de leur vie, puis accompagner Ibrahim et ses musiciens sur sa composition « Happy Face ».
En 2019, Ibrahim compose, interprète et enregistre la totalité de la musique du spectacle « Monsieur X » créé par Mathilda May et interprété par le célèbre acteur et comédien Pierre Richard. Spectacle qui remportera le Molière du meilleur seul en scène de l?année 2020.
De plus, sur son Label Mister ibé, Ibrahim produit le premier album de Thais Lona, chanteuse émergente dans les musiques Pop-RnB.
Il relance également la 7ème édition du « Concours International de Trompette Maurice André ».
