Par BUNK GERARD. As a 20th century composer, Gerard Bunk developed a distinctive musical style comparable perhaps to that of Max Reger or Sigfrid Karg-Elert. In addition to Bunk?s large-scale organ work ?Legende? Op.29 and its symphonic version Op.29II, there is a further well-known ?Legende? Op.55b written for organ and string orchestra (or string quartet) which was composed in 1945. This edition offers the earlier version of this work, dating from 1914, in its original instrumentation for organ and brass quartet. In order to facilitate performance, the sketchily notated score is carefully supplemented by performance markings from the string version. The 6?30?? long piece is constructed of two types of material: the combination of a fanfare like trumpet call with a meandering line, and more undulating material. Her works have been performed across a wide range of venues throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. Her piece Kaamos, which she wrote for the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, was recently nominated for a Ivors Composer Award in the Large Scale Composition category. Kaamos also was selected by YLE Radio Finland to represent Finland at the International Rostrum of Composers 2021 in Belgrade, Serbia. Poe was the 2019 Tanglewood Music Patricia Plum Wilde Fellow and represented Finland at Ung Nordisk Musik 2019 in Piteå. (The Four Seasons). Par VIVALDI ANTONIO. Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) stands, with Handel and J. S. Bach, as one of the titanic figures of late Baroque composition. Not only was he lauded as a composer of vocal and instrumental works both sacred and secular, he was without doubt, the most prolific composer of his age. In addition to hundreds of vocal works, including forty-nine operas, he composed five hundred concertos. The Four Seasons are probably the best known of his concerti with the second movement, Largo, portraying time spent by a roaring fire listening to the rain pounding against the window. Par RAMSOE / KING. German composer, Wilhelm Ramsø e (1837-1895) is best remembered for his compositions for brass. His Quartet No. 4 for Cornet, Trumpet, Trombone or Horn, and Baritone is no exception. As one of five brass quartets by the composer, Quartet No. 4 remains prominent in the brass ensemble repertoire. Made up of three movements, each part contains a variety of exciting musical features. The movements are 1) Allegro Moderato, 2) Marcia Funebre, and 3) Scherzo, all of which contain edits by Robert King. Par TOMASI HENRI. French composer and conductor, Henri Tomasi (1901-1971) published Variations Gregoriennes Sur Un Salve Regina 1964. As with his other wind compositions, Gregorian Variations for Trumpet and String Orchestra and Organ reduction was well-received by audiences. Tomasi was born in Marseille, but his Father and Mother were originally from La Casinca in Corsica. Despite being pressured in to musical studies by his parents, Tomasi dreamed of becoming a sailor, and during the summer, he stayed with his Grandmother in Corsica where he learnt traditional Corsican songs. However, in1921, he began his studies at the Paris Conservatoire and went on to become a high profile composer and conductor. Tomasi did not forget his Corsican routes, often incorporating themes of the songs he had learnt during the summers with his Grandmother into his compositions. Variations Gregoriennes Sur Un Salve Regina is a highly unusual and modern work based on an old Marian Hymn (a song for the Virgin Mary). The variations exploit tonality, rhythm and structure amongst other aspects. This Tomasi piece is suitable for advanced trumpeters, providing an exciting, alternative addition to the instrument's repertoire./ Répertoire / Trompette et Orgue

Par ESENVALDS ERIKS. O Salutaris Hostia is one of Eriks E?envalds? most popular pieces. Originally written for female voices, the composer later created a version for full choir on which this arrangement is based. It has a gentle meditation with the two soloists drifting across the soft band accompaniment, alternately echoing and imitating each other or joining together in thirds. The effect is quietly ecstatic, a brief moment of adoration and wonderment. This arrangement can be played with either two cornets or two euphoniums as soloists as the accompaniment works just as effectively with either. Par DE HAAN JACOB. Everest is the name of a restaurant on the 40th floor of a skyscraper in Chicago. In 2003 the composer Jacob de Haan had dinner there together with his publishers and other fellow composers. The idea of composing a march to honour the excellent cuisine, the magnificent view of the skyline and the pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant arose during the visit.
