Manon Lescaut is the fi rst volume of the series 'The operas of Giacomo Puccini? - Critical Edition - in collaboration with Archivio storico Ricordi and Fondazione Simonetta Puccini. It makes available the three main versions of the opera that have survived in various sources: an 1893 version, with the original Act I finale, the fi rst version of Manon's Act IV aria, and the uncut version of the fi nal duet in Act IV- a 'midcareer? version imagined by Puccini in the fi rst decade of the new century, when he sanctioned the almost complete omission of Manon's Act IV aria- and fi nally the last version that Puccini lived to approve, with Manon's aria restored, albeit with a revised literary text. The volume is introduced by a preface to the Puccini Critical Edition, an historical introduction, a detailed description of the opera's many sources and a lengthy critical commentary which discusses numerous problematic details in the musical text. / Voix Et Piano

The opera Nais was premiered on 22 April 1749 at the Academie royale in the Palais-Royal, Paris, in celebration of the signing of the so-called Treaty of Aachen. It was revived again in August 1764 shortly before Rameau's death and achieved great success as the 'opera of peace', even though it did not appear in print during the composer's lifetime.In numerous arias Rameau provides his singers ample opportunity to shine, while he reveals his orchestral mastery, in particular in the chaconne and the various other ballets.This edition is the result of a meticulous comparison of all known musical sources. In the main section, it presents the version that Rameau approved for the performances of 1749. The appendix contains those passages that the composer cut during the rehearsals in 1749 and all changes that he undertook for the 1764 revival. / Chant Et Piano

Composed in 1818 on commission from an unknown individual in Lisbon, Adina was left to languish some years until its premiere in 1826, with a single performance in that city remaining virtually the only one on record until the opera's revival in 1963. The present vocal score is based on the critical edition of the orchestral full score prepared by Fabrizio Della Seta and published by the Fondazione Rossini of Pesaro in collaboration with Casa Ricordi. This Edition reconstructs for the first time the structure of the autograph score, which reflects the collective contributions of at least five different hands: having composed only four entirely new numbers and repurposed another three from Sigismondo, Rossini relied upon collaborators and copyists for the remainder of the music. Della Seta's detailed examination of this fundamental document (housed at the Fondazione Rossini) together with an informed assessment of the secondary sources, including a complete manuscript copy (housed at the British Library in London), various manuscript vocal parts with Rossini's autograph interventions (housed in the Royal Conservatory of Brussels), and the first edition of the vocal score published by Ricordi between 1855 and 1859, additionally reveals how the libretto printed in Lisbon for that single historic performance in 1826 differed substantially from the narrative disposition of the autograph score, with ample cuts and modifications (among those the suppression of the Aria Alì and the addition of a Coro).
