Bach liked this work very much and had it published in 1787, the year before his death. The following year the oratorio was performed by Mozart in Vienna.The text of the oratorio by Carl Wilhelm Ramler (1725?1798; better known as the poet of the frequently-set ?Der Tod Jesu?) covers the Easter story of the disciples at Emmaus and the doubting Thomas, up to the image of Jesus ascending to heaven.The score is published as Vol. IV,2 of the C.P.E. Par ZELENKA JAN DISMAS. The Missa Omnium Sanctorum ZWV 21 is Zelenka?s last mass setting. It contains three extended arias (one each for soprano, alto and tenor), concertante choruses and unusually expressive choral fugues. Especially powerful in effect is the through-composed Credo in this mass, with a ritornello that is one of Zelenka?s most beautiful inspirations. The score and parts material of this new edition are based on the corresponding volume of the ?Das Erbe deutscher Musik? series, from which Breitkopf and Härtel also took over both its informative preface as well as the critical report. Dvorák's 'Requiem?, for soloists, choir and orchestra, is one of the highlights within the international choral repertoire. Now Bärenreiter is presenting this work in an arrangement by Joachim Linckelmann with chamber orchestra based on the full score from the 'Complete Edition of the Works by Antonín Dvorák?.The arrangement dispenses with all the brass instruments except for a single horn- all that remains of the percussion are the timpani- the organ has also been taken out. The cor anglais and bass clarinet parts can be replaced by an oboe and clarinet (ossia staves in score and parts).This arrangement, which judiciously reduces the richness of Dvorák's original orchestration, makes the work available to a broader range of performers outside professional circles.- Standard choral work with a manageable reduced orchestration- A stylistically appropriate as well as tried and tested arrangement- In keeping with the vocal score H 2924-90 / Violon II
