Harry James s’illustre d’abord auprès de Benny Goodman, mais décide de fonder sa propre formation en 1939 et en fait l’un des Orchestres de Swing les plus réputés de l’époque. Il engage notamment Frank Sinatra et reprend des classiques tels que Sleepy Lagoon d’Eric Coates et Ciribiribin d’Alberto Pestalozza.
