Arrangeur: Siegfried Petrenz. Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. The importance of the Art of Fugue, a late work of Bach, is undisputed. The composer died while preparing it to be printed. The work has been given the highest recognition by musicians and music lovers ranging from his contemporaries to the present day. This stands in sharp contrast to the reception of the work. It is scarcely to be found in the piano repertoire or ib concert programs and, above all, it is almost entirely absent from the curriculum in the study of music. One the reasons for this – the technical demands which the fugues and canons present – has been addressed with the present edition of the work. The four-voiced notation of the score from the firstedition has been distributed over two pianos, and each piano part is allotted its own score. This follows the model of Bach, who arranged Contrapunctus 13, the three-voiced mirror fugue, for two harpsichords. Thus each player has two voices to play – somewhat on the level of difficulty of the two-part inventions – and these parts present no extraordinary technical demands. The goal of this edition is to give pianists and music lovers, but above all music students the possibility to get to know this work, one of the greatest work of music literature, by playing it and reaping the rewards of “incredible” musical experiences and knowledge./ Répertoire / 2 Claviers

Par SCARLATTI / GILBERT. Italian composer, Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757) is well-known for his Keyboard compositions. His 555 Keyboard Sonatas remain ever popular to this day, and it is for this reason that this ninth volume is indispensable to performers of the genre. Originally composed for the Harpsichord, Organ or early Pianoforte, the Sonatas display the riveting use of discords and unconventional modulations to remote keys. It is also thought that much of Scarlatti 's Keyboard music contains influences of Iberian music, considering that he spent much of his working life in the service of the Spanish and Portuguese royal families. The ninth volume, comprising Sonatas 408-457, includes many of the popular and recognised Sonatas in a variety of keys. Bearing in mind that Domenico Scarlatti was a highly competent and popular Keyboard player in his day, so much so that he was employed in the service of two royal families, his Sonatas are composed with much experience, understanding and expertise, creating an essential addition to the repertoire of all Keyboard players of the Baroque genre./ Répertoire / Clavier

The Celle court organist Wolfgang Weßnitzer was a paragon of diligence when it came to compiling keyboard pieces. His collection, put together around 1662, is sure to impress the friends of early keyboard music and musicologists alike. It contains over 200 little pieces by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck and Heinrich Scheidemann - to name but the most famous composers - and was practically unknown until now. For our first edition, Martin Böcker has selected 32 previously unpublished pieces. The 'Celler Clavierbuch' offers an impressive panorama of the rich and vibrant music that was written for the harpsichord, the spinet, the clavichord, etc. in Northern Germany in the mid 17th century. / Clavier
