The school operates under the philosophy 'Quality education today - for tomorrow' and is looking toward new directions in education for the 21st century. The school offers a wide range of learning opportunities where the integration of curriculum stresses academics, athletics and the arts. A special piece - a special story: In 2020, a renowned architect approached a composer to create a new piece of music for his daughter's wedding, which the happy father could give to the young couple as a wedding present. In earlier eras of private patronage, such a story would have been natural, but in the 21st century it is an odd story. The composition subtly alludes to the occasion: against the background of the piano, a duet of two instruments tells the story of a serene love (the piece can either be performed with a bassoon and a violoncello, or with two violoncellos). Full score Following the enormous success of George Benjamin’s first opera Into the Little Hill (2006), there has been huge anticipation in the musical world at the prospect of his first full-length work in this genre. After a period of intense work and isolation for Benjamin, his much-awaited new opera, Written on Skin, was premiered at the Aix-en-Provence Festival on 7 July 2012. A long standing ovation was the first of many marks of recognition and praise for this extraordinary work which has been hailed by critics as ‘[one of] the best operas of the 21st century so far,’ ‘the birth of a masterpiece.’ The opera is scored for 60 players, lasts 95 minutes and has a cast of five. En effet, conjuguer le feu et les étoiles ne pouvait qu’engendrer une pièce pleine d’énergie positive, de bonnes vibrations, où un thème étincelant exposé dès les premières mesures entraîne le public vers un final explosif.
