a 6 et a 8. Par MOZART WOLFGANG AMADEUS. The Serenade in E-flat, K. 375, exists in two versions, one for two clarinets, two horns and two bassoons, and another for the same forces plus two oboes, forming an octet. From Mozart himself we know a fair amount about the occasion that led to the first, six-instrument version of this work and about its early performances. Written for the sister-in-law of the court painter Hickl, it probably originated toward the end of September or the beginning of October in 1781 and was first performed on 15 October, the name-day of St. Theresa. The octet version probably arose in the summer of the following year. It is far more than a mechanical expansion of the sextetwith the oboes merely reinforcing the clarinets colla parte. Not only did Mozart take advantage of the occasion to make changes in the articulation and the dynamics, he also altered the work's melodic substance and formal design. The two additional high-register instruments allowed him to achieve more subtle distinctions and gradations of timbre, thereby enabling him, for example, to vary the timbral homogeneity of the two clarinets. The opportunity arose to divide melodic phrases among the clarinets and oboes or to make them more brilliant and incisive by doubling them at the unison or octave. - Urtext of the New Mozart Edition - Parts sextet version (BA5333), octet version (BA5334) and study score both versions format 22. 5 x 16. 5cm (TP315) available for sale/ Répertoire / Partition de Poche

FROM THE RESPONSORY DOMINE AD ADJUVANDUM ME FESTINA. Par VIVALDI ANTONIO / SIEVING ROBERT (Arr.). Robert Sieving\'s arrangement of Allegro for Double String Orchestra by Antonio Vivaldi, RV593, originally a motet featuring the vocal setting of Psalm 69 for soprano, 2 oboes, 2 SATB choirs, and double string orchestra, provides the opportunity for two orchestras to perform in opposition and have a musical conversation through fugal writing. Sieving has maintained Vivaldi\'s writing and sound, as the two orchestras battle it out to be the reigning orchestra. Each orchestra and section have interesting parts, with string crossings, minimal shifting, stylistic Baroque bow use, and call and response sections or echo sections. Invite a neighboring orchestra to perform this wonderful double string piece or divide your orchestra in two groups. Such a wonderful addition to our Vivaldi repertoire by Robert Sieving at Level 3. / Date parution : 2022-07-30/ Répertoire / Orchestre

Minor: Bordun. Par ORFF CARL / KEETMAN GUNILD. Carl Orff devoted much of his life to the development of a philosophy of Music for Children, based on his belief that music is the natural outcome of speech, rhythm and movement. His ideas and pioneering work have had a major influence on music and dance education throughout the world and today that work continues under the guidance of leading teachers and educators in many countries.
The five basic German volumes of 'Music for Children' by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman were published between 1950 and 1954. Edition have since been published in Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Ghana, Great Britain (including a special Welsh edition), Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea, Latin-America, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and the USA.
In 1952 the first edition in translation appeared, an English language adaptation by Doreen Hall and Arnold Walter for their Canadian and American students.
A few years later, Margaret Murray independently developed a version (1957-1966), essentially to fulfil the needs of United Kingdom teachers.
Inevitably the considerable growth of Orff-Schulwerk in the United States led to the publication of the American Edition (1977) to satisfy the requirements of a different educational system and national heritage.
Orff-Schulwerk: Music for Children has proved itself to be a stimulating source of material for music teaching. Carl Orff's fundamental educational ideas have revitalized music education in nursery schools, at all levels of primary and secondary education and in special music schools, based on the concepts that: - music, dance and language are inter-related and animated through rhythm. - when children discover, invent, improvise and compose, their experience of music is intensified. These creative activities are complementary to those of interpreting and listening to music. - all who take part are encouraged to contribute, not only vocally but also instrumentally. - the Orff approach to music education is many sided; it is concerned with practical music-making, it provides fundamental experiences and it lays the foundation for a comprehensive musical training. - movement games and activities for body awareness in space, time and flow, lead to movement improvisation and dance forms. - music and dance have been notated in many different ways in history. Various ways of writing down sounds and music, as well as playing from and interpreting different kinds of sources are being explored.
Today, countless teachers and institutions are using these ideas. More and more teachers look for ways of invovling their students in active music making. In particular, they seek to challenge their pupils' creativity by the use of music, dance and speech - as media of human expression - as a foundation of all education.
A prerequisite for work in Orff-Schulwerk is the artistic and pedagogical training of teachers. The Orff Institute was founded in 1961 as a Department of the 'Mozarteum', in Salzburg, Austria. Training offered includes a four-year diploma course, a two-year post-graduate course, and a one-year-course in English.
At the opening of the Orff Institute in Salzburg in 1963, Carl Orff ended his speech with a quotation from Schiller: 'I have done my part, now do yours.' That challenge has been taken up by teachers worldwide.

Par DVORAK ANTONIN. This study score is based on the score and complete performance material of Dvorák's famous B minor Cello Concerto (BA 9045) edited by Jonathan Del Mar and published in 2011. In addition the study score contains a Foreword by Dvorák scholar Jan Smaczny.
Like every other major 19th-century cello concerto, Dvorák's concerto resulted from a collaboration between the composer and a virtuoso musician. Several passages in Dvorák's autograph were written by the cellist Hanus Wihan but Bärenreiter's edition now reveals that some details in the orchestral parts are also in his writing, showing just how closely the two musicians were working together.
The editor Jonathan Del Mar has conscientiously examined every available source, including two that have hitherto been either ignored or crucially undervalued. His research has led to a benchmark edition that reconstructs, for the first time since its initial publication in 1896, Dvorák's definitive version of the solo part. It differs from previous editions in practically every measure and hundreds of corrections have also been made to the orchestral parts.
- Includes Dvorák's final and definitive version of the solo cello part
- Incorporates new discoveries regarding the collaboration between Dvorák and Wihan
- With Feuermann's and Casals's alternative versions of a passage in the first movement

Original Version. Par SCHUMANN ROBERT. Schumann’s Cello Concerto Rediscovered
In her first Urtext edition for Edition Peters, internationally renowned cellist Josephine Knight reveals Robert Schumann’s original version of his Cello Concerto in A minor Op. 129 – a piece he actually called a ‘Concertstück’ – removing generations of inauthentic editorial interventions. This is the only available modern scholarly edition of the work as Schumann originally conceived it, and restores the text from October 1850, based on the composer’s manuscript held in the Biblioteka Jagiellonska in Kraków. This Full Score matches the separately available edition for Cello and Piano (EP 73488). Matching orchestral material is also available from the publisher.

Robert Schumann’s tragic last years have mired many of his greatest works in unnecessary doubt. The story of the suppression of his Violin Concerto by well-meaning friends is relatively well-known. Few, however, know that the version of the Cello Concerto that is routinely heard today is so far from Schumann’s original conception of the work – not only in details of phrasing and articulation, but also featuring a different ending with a bold final flourish from the cello. Composed in a burst of inspiration in two weeks in October 1850 shortly after he and Clara had moved to Düsseldorf, Schumann (who in 1850 was still in good health) never heard the piece performed. In an effort to promote a performance of the work, he gave the score to the cellist Robert Emil Bockmühl. Bockmühl made revisions that Schumann resisted, and the hoped-for performance never happened. Schumann’s health failed and he died aged just 46 in 1856. The Concerto, in an already substantially revised form, was premiered in 1860 but it was not given significant recognition until it was championed by Pablo Casals in the 20th century by which time (and since) the text for the work had accreted additions and alterations from generations of soloists.
Now Josephine Knight, Piatti Professor of Cello at the Royal Academy of Music, London has returned to the original 1850 manuscript of the work, which is in the Biblioteka Jagiellonska in Kraków, to reveal Schumann’s original thoughts for the first time in a modern Urtext edition. The edition reflects Schumann’s original conception of the work as a Concertstück and restores Schumann’s musical text, free of posthumous interventions.
‘My ultimate wish,’ says the editor, ‘is to give performers both access to, and confidence that they are playing from, an edition which is a true representation of the piece in its original form, no matter how much more difficult this might be. I found that incorporating the changes enabled the piece to take on a completely different character – one that is lighter and happier, even “cheerful”, as Schumann himself described the work.'/ Répertoire / Violoncelle et Orchestre

Mozart wrote the five Divertimenti for Wind Sextet between the years 1775 and 1777 when he was living in Salzburg. The Italian title is reminiscent of simple 'light? music, but the pieces' melodic ingenuity and colourful writing for winds show it to be chamber music of the highest quality. Our edition is based on the autograph and brings together all five authentic sextets in one practical edition. An ensemble with the standard instrumentation (two oboes, two horns and two bassoons) will discover a true musical treasure. Conducteur Avec Couverture Rigide. Par TELEMANN GEORG PHILIPP. The volume presents, as a first edition, Telemann's surviving compositions for a number of public occasions in Altona. It contains two festive compositions written for the inauguration of the Akademische Gymnasium in 1744, one piece composed for the centennial of the Absolute and Hereditary Monarchy Act in Denmark (1760), one Latin ode to the King of Denmark for a school festivity in Altona, and an excerpt of two arias - the only surviving part of the music composed for the inauguration of Elias Caspar Reichard as Professor of Eloquence and Poetry at the Akademische Gymnasium (1741).
The edition was prepared on the basis of the known sources held at the Brussels Conservatory Library, new manuscripts contained in a rediscovered anthology of the Hamburg State Library including those previously unknown compositions, as well as printed texts which had not been considered to date from the Royal Library in Copenhagen.
The Foreword provides information regarding Telemann's tenure in Altona. Also included is a catalogue of all related works. The Bohuslav Martinu Complete Edition III/1/5. Par MARTINU BOHUSLAV. “Incarnation” (1956), Bohuslav Martinu’s fourth piano concerto, follows an atypical two-movement structure. It was composed for Martinu’s friend Rudolf Firkušný, who played from a copy of the autograph until 1970, when the composition was first put into print. The next work, “Concerto in B flat major for Piano and Orchestra”, known under the name “Fantasia Concertante”, was to be Martinu’s very last concert work. The concerto in three movements, composed at the request of Swiss pianist Margrit Weber, is quite different from the previous work in terms of its compositional means. In this case, Martinu strongly influenced the edition of the work.
The present volume of the Complete Edition of works by Bohuslav Martinu is based mainly on contemporary copies containing the composer’s own modifications. The edition presents numerous new findings about the genesis of both works./ Recueil / Orchestre

Par MOZART WOLFGANG AMADEUS. Mozart composed his two “Lodron Serenades” for open-air performances on the name day of Countess Antonia Lodron in June 1776 and 1777. Their bright “al fresco” character is immediately recognisable. Alfred Einstein considered these two divertimentos to be “among the purest, gayest, most satisfying, and most perfect that ever assumed musical form”.
For both works Mozart chose an ensemble of two horns, two violins, viola and bass instruments. However, the second Lodron Serenade, the Divertimento in B-flat major K. 287, stands out from this sextet format by assigning a remarkably virtuosic solo role to the first violin, from the richly diverse opening movement to the finale with its almost ironic recitative and an exhilarating passage on the folk song “D’Bäurin hat d’Katz verlorn”. Mozart himself played first violin in the 1777 performance. Later he wrote, “They all opened their eyes! I played as though I were the finest fiddler in all Europe”./ Répertoire / 2 Cors, 2 Violons, Alto et Contrebasse

Electronic Music Design: Robin Meier
Triades is a work in concertante form for solo double bass, an ensemble of twenty-one musicians and live electronics. This piece belongs to a larger cycle for double bass begun in 2013 with Nicolas Crosse, double bassist and soloist with the Ensemble Intercontemporain.
The poetic universe of this project was taken directly from Solaris, Stanislas Lem's science fiction novel written in 1961. Solaris is a planet, that orbits around two suns, with a surface entirely covered by an ocean of protoplasmic matter, presenting an absolute enigma for the scientists who have been studying it for almost a century. The ocean creates gigantic formations on its surface that scholars have given names based on their shapes and distinctive features: Longus, Mimoids, Agilus, Vertebrides, Symetriades, Asymetriades... Triades follows in the continuity of these monstrous creatures endowed with phenomenal activity and prodigious dynamics surpassing anything imaginable by the human spirit.
Every gesture made by the soloist, every timbre resulting from the heightened energy coming from the double bass, is related to a characteristic type of transformation. Digital software reacts to the soloist's physical actions on the instrument in real time. After electronic transformation, the sound is amplified through a large network of loudspeakers and subwoofers positioned in dome-form to surround the audience. This setting literally plunges the audience into a realistic experience of submersion.
Triades is dedicated to both Nicolas Crosse and Robin Meier, without whom this sonic universe would never have been so amply developed.

The 'Concerto da Camera” (1941) is the last of his works inspired by the Baroque concerto grosso. The 'Rhapsody-Concerto”, composed eleven years later (1952), was the first work of his so-called 'fantasia period”, marked by a more open sense of form and an expansion of tonality. The edition of the 'Concerto da Camera' shows, for the first time, the extend of Martinu's modifications to the work since its composition and publication, particularly on the solo violin part. The edition of the 'Rhapsody-Concerto” takes into account, among others, the discovery of previously unknown contemporary performance materials.
This volume of the Bohuslav Martinu-Complete Edition (BMCE) is based on a wealth of text and music sources, in particular autographs and contemporary copies that were recognized by the composer and early performers of the works, as well as some first editions created in collaboration with Martinu./ Répertoire / Conducteur

Haydn's Symphony Hob. I:89 belongs to a group of symphonies composed between the 'Paris? symphonies (Hob. I:82-87) and their 'London? counterparts (Hob. I: 93-104) - the last ones he wrote before his trips to England in 1791-92 and 1794-95. The Symphony in F major is dated 1787 in the autograph score. In this work Haydn borrowed two movements from an earlier piece, possibly owing to deadline pressure. The second and fourth movements are arrangements of movements 2 and 3 from his Concerto in F major Hob. VIIh:5 for two 'lire organizzate? and orchestra. The fact that he also arranged movements from his other lire concertos suggests that he regarded them as a sort of musical quarry. This at least allowed him to recycle parts of these works after his patron had probably prohibited him from offering them commercially. This edition continues the collaboration with the Henle publishing company regarding Haydn's large-scale choral works, operas and symphonies. It is based on the Henle Complete Edition of the 'Works of Joseph Haydn?. The complete performance material for several Sturm und Drang symphonies and all of the London and Paris symphonies is now available from Bärenreiter. o Based on the Henle Complete Edition of the 'Works of Joseph Haydn?o Orchestral parts in a large format (25.5 x 32.5 cm) / Orchestre
