Par MOZART WOLFGANG AMADEUS. Mozart composed the majority of his works for solo String Instruments and Orchestra during the years 1773 to 1779. Especially important in this context are the years 1773 and 1775, which witnessed the creation of the five concertos for Violin and Orchestra as well as several single movements for the same scoring. The reasons for this flourish of activity in this domain lie partly in the fact that Mozart, who still occupied the post of concertmaster to the Prince-Archbishop, was either obliged or inspired to provide such works for special occasions during this long period spent in Salzburg. But another reason was certainly the possibility of experimenting withall the new compositional techniques acquired during his third trip to Italy and his stay of several months in Vienna from July to September 1773. The Piano reduction of Mozart ’s G Major Violin Concerto is easier to play, uncluttered and practical with page turns where you need them and where necessary fold-out pages. The solo part gives players the critical Urtext of the New Mozart Edition. The tutti passages are all presented in normal size print for players wanting to perform these sections with the first Violins. An ossia has been included in small print for the last four measures before the first solo passage to allow for the transition to the solo section. A prepared performance part is also included with bowings, fingerings and performance practice comments. An additional brochure is included with todays most performed cadenzas, ”Eingänge” and fermata embellishments by Eugène Ysaÿe, Leopold Auer, Sam Franko and Martin Wulfhorst. Mvt 1. Par ARCENS GILLES. Diplômé du conservatoire de Toulouse de 1982 à 1985 (1er prix de saxophone, 1er prix de musique de chambre, prix de perfectionnement de saxophone, 1er prix d'harmonie, 1er prix de contrepoint, 2ème prix de solfège), il poursuit des études de composition de musique de films à l'Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, avec Antoine Duhamel et Laurent Petitgirard, entre 1987 et 1988. De 1986 à 1992, il exerce en temps que professeur de saxophone, de musique de chambre, d'harmonie et de contrepoint au conservatoire d'Andorre la Vieille (Principauté d'Andorre). Il joue en parallèle dans le quatuor de saxophones Tetrasax de 1981 à 1990, puis de 1989 à 1993, avec le Jazz Time Big-Band, dirigé par Richard Calléja. Il rejoint le grand orchestre de René Coll en 1992, en temps que saxophoniste arrangeur, et compositeur. Il réalise des orchestrations pour de nombreuses émissions de télévision (Sacrée Soirée, les Années Tubes, FaSiLa Chanter, Vivement Dimanche, les 25 ans du Loto, Prima Dona, Le Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde, Music-hall et Compagnie, les émissions pour l'élection de Miss-France de 1996 à 2003), sur des compositions originales de Vladimir Cosma, Gérard Presgurvic, Richard Sanderson, Gilles Arcens, etc. Il travaille en étroite collaboration avec Patrick Sébastien depuis 1998 : co-compositions et arrangements de ses chansons, réalisation de tous ses albums, composition de ses génériques de ses émissions télévisées, mise en forme et orchestration de ses spectacles et tours de chants, accompagnement sur scène en tournée dans toute la France et dans les grandes salles parisiennes (Olympia, Palais des Congrès, etc.). Durant sa carrière, il a accompagné de nombreux artistes dont J. Hallyday, F. Pagny, Barry White, N. Croisille, S. Distel, H. Salvador, Maurane, V. Samson, S. Lama, C. Aznavour, G. Lenorman, D. Les progrès de Titan, qui est le premier ouvrage de Hermann Pallhuber pour le style britannique brass band, contient également des références à la musique de Gustav Mahler. Motifs de la première symphonie de Mahler travaillent tout au long et surtout le thème principal de la finale. Par HAENDEL GEORG FRIEDRICH. The publication of the new Urtext edition of Water Music makes the work available in a revised edition reflecting the latest research findings. In October 2004, the editor Terence Best found the oldest surviving manuscript score in the archives of the Royal Society of Musicians in London – primary source A, which can be dated to 1718. This discovery demands a dramatic reappraisal of what is probably Handel ’s most famous work. Until this find, the theory formulated by Barrett Lennard in 1950 was regarded as authoritative. He divided the material into three suites according to key and instrumentation. This was based on the fact that some ofthe material in the Water Music is the same as in the Concerto HWV 331. With the help of the latest technology, it has now been possible to date this Concerto to 1722. By doing this, the rationale for dividing the music into three suites has been removed. The newly found primary source A places the movements in a richly varied sequence of keys and instrumentations which offers a great range of colours than the previous arrangement. Considered throughout much of his career as the preeminent French composer, Camille Saint-Saëns wrote music that embodies a characteristic French concern for clarity and order, together with his own assured mastery of the composer's craft. These qualities are evident in Saint-Saëns' Symphony No. 3, widely regarded as the composer's major orchestral work, and one of the very few to incorporated the organ as a featured instrument. Saint-Saëns wrote this symphony during the period of his greatest creativity — in the 1870s and '80s — at which time he also produced such important works as the opera Samson et Dalila, Le Carnaval des animaux, the Piano Concerto No. 4, and the Violin Concerto No. 3. Par BORBOUDAKIS MINAS. Constellation by Minas Borboudakis is a 14-minute work for orchestra (4 Horns in F, Timpani, 3 Percussion, Strings – Sampler). 'The first version of Constellation for octet was written in 2002 when Gidon Kremer asked me to write a new piece for the sextet of the Kremerata Baltica during a series of performances of my works in his festival in Lockenhaus', says the composer. In the version for orchestra, glissandi spread out from a single note phrase by phrase. The four horns, placed stereophonically in pairs to the right and left of the conductor, create explosions of sound through repetitive lines and motivic escapades. The premiere took place on 7 January 2011 at the Tonhalle Zurich by the Tonhalle-Orchester Zurich under the baton of Constantinos Carydis. The water has healing powersand for centuries traditional healers have settled there in small villages. From far the sick come to the Huaringas to be treated in nightly rituals, in which the hallucinating juice of the San Pedro cactus gives the prophet a look inside hispatient. The biggest lagoon is the “Laguna del Shimbe”, one of the countless wells of the immense Amazon stream. 2nd movement: Los AguarunasFurther downstream in Northern Peru we come across the rain tribe of Los Aguarunas. It’s a proud, beautiful andindependent race, which has never succumbed to domination, not even from the Incas. They live from everything the forest has to offer: fish, fruit, plants, . . . . They also grow some crops and live as semi-nomads. They take their fate into their ownhands and after having made contact with modern civilisation, they have integrated new elements into their lives without betraying their own ways. 3rd movement: MekaronMekaron is an Indian word meaning “picture”, “soul”, “essence”. The Indians are theorigina inhabitants of the Amazon region. They either live in one place as a group or move around a large region. They all have their own political system, their own language and an intense social life. At the same time they are master of music andmedicine. “Everywhere the white man goes, he leaves a wilderness behind him”, wrote the North American Indian leader Seatl in 1885. As a result of these contacts with the whites, the disruption of most Indian societies began. (In this century alone, 80 tribes have vanished completely). 4th movement: KêêtuajêThis is the name of the initiating ceremony of the Krahô tribe in the Brazilian state of Goias, in which young boys and girls enter adult life. They are cleansed with water, painted with redpaint and covered with feathers, after which the ritual dance holds the entire tribe spell-bound. 5th movement: Paulino FaiakanIn 1988 the Indian chiefs Faiakan and Raoni Kaiapo came to Europe to protest against the building of the Altamira dam inBrazil. As a result of the dam the Indians would be driven from their traditional land and enormous artificial would be created. The project was supported financially by, amongst others, the European Community. In February 1989 the Indian tribesaround Altamira held a protest march for the first time in their history together. Amongst other things they paid tribute tot Chico Mendez, who, murdered in 1988, was the leader of the rubber syndicate and a fierce opponent of the destruction of theBrazilian rain forest.
