Following
its edition of the
beautiful Messe Sainte
Cecile by Gounod in an
arrangement for Coro SA
and organ (CV 27.025),
Carus presents a further
sacred work by this
composer: his Te Deum for
soli, choir, two harps
and two organs (choir
organ and great organ).
As Peter Kaiser, the
editor, has expressed in
his foreword, this work
from 1886 realizes a
strict, almost ascetic
musical language, an
inward awe and praise of
God.. Score and parts

Anton
Bruckner's Te Deum - a
high point in the
composer's output and one
of the most important
works of the sacred
choral repertoire in the
19th century - is now
available in a modern,
scholarly edition. The
Carus edition draws on
both the two sources
regarded as important,
the autograph score and
the first printed
edition, with careful
consideration given to
variant readings. And so
a music text has been
prepared which reflects
the composer's intentions
as closely as possible.
Great emphasis has been
placed on a clear-to-read
layout of the full score
pages, as well as
excellent legibility for
the parts, which are
available on sale. With
current performance
practice in mind, the
clarinet parts are
notated in B flat instead
of A, corresponding with
the first printed
edition. The vocal score
has been newly prepared
to reflect current
practical requirements.
As an economical
alternative, a chorus
score is available.
Bruckner's Te Deum is
also available in carus
music, the choir app. The
app contains the music
and a recording, as well
as a coach to help with
learning each choral
part. In preparation:
arrangement of the Te
Deum for soli, choir,

Among the
numerous Requiem settings
of the 19th century, only
very few are scored for
male voices. Although
several compositions (by,
amongst others, Max Reger
and Peter Cornelius) are
designated 'Requiem',
these are usually only
single-movement works,
not settings of the
entire text of the
ordinary. To date, only
four complete settings
for male choir - by Luigi
Cherubini, Franz Liszt,
Hugo Kaun and Lorenzo
Perosare - are known.
With the first edition of
the Requiem by Johann
Christian Heinrich Rinck
for solo voices, male
choir and organ, a
further work is being
made available for
performance. Rinck,
celebrated as the Rhenish
Bach and as a worldwide
famous composer, wrote it
in 1836.

In addition
to the Requiem, the Missa
Dalmatica, which was
first composed in 1835
and revised in 1876,
offers further proof of
the remarkable sacred
music composed by the
famous composer of
operettas, Franz von
Suppe. He dedicated the
Mass to his Dalmatian
homeland. In this Mass
for three-voiced men's
choir and organ, which in
his unmistakable personal
style combined the most
varied influences of the
tradition of church
music, Italian and German
opera, as well as the
folk idioms of Vienna and
Dalmatia, Suppe created
an attractive and unique
work which has earned a
special place in the
history of 19th century
church music.

The Requiem
of Gabriel Faure is now
available in two
versions: in the
symphonic version which
was completed in 1900 and
in a version with small
orchestra of 1889. The
symphonic version of
Gabriel Faure's Requiem,
published in 1901, was
the product of a 13-year
compositional process.
Starting from the
original five-movement
form for strings, harp
and organ, the composer
wrote two additional
movements, one after the
other, and expanded the
instrumentation in
various stages for later
performances. The present
reconstruction of a
version with small
orchestra differs from
other such attempts in
that for the first time
it presents the work not
in a mixed version, but
rather in the unified
form from 1889. This is
distinguished from the
final version both in
musical terms, as well as
through the fact that it
forgoes the use of
flutes, clarinets and
bassoons, while employing
only two horns instead of
four. With a critical
Report with information
about the source
situation and the
edition, and containing
the individual readings
(alternative readings,
etc.). Since in 1889 the
Offertoire was still
without the choral
section the present
edition contains the
Offertoire of the final
version as appendix. Now

When Joseph
Haydn assumed the
position as music
director of the Court of
Esterhazy in 1766,
following the death of
his predecessor, Gregor
Joseph Werner, he began
by composing his first
and most extensive Missa
solemnis. The title Missa
Cellensis (later also
known as the Cecilian
Mass) and the date of an
autograph score suggest
that this work was
probably commissioned by
Prince Nicolaus Esterhazy
for the 600th anniversary
of the pilgrimage church
Mariazell located in
Styria. With regard to
the scoring as well as
form, this Mass is still
in the tradition of the
late baroque number mass.
In contrast to previous
mixed versions based on
various sources, the new
edition follows the
authentic (original)
version using the most
reliable sources. This
work is now available in

The Requiem
of Gabriel Faure is now
available in two
versions: in the
symphonic version which
was completed in 1900 and
in a version with small
orchestra of 1889. The
symphonic version of
Gabriel Faure's Requiem,
published in 1901, was
the product of a 13-year
compositional process.
Starting from the
original five-movement
form for strings, harp
and organ, the composer
wrote two additional
movements, one after the
other, and expanded the
instrumentation in
various stages for later
performances. The present
reconstruction of a
version with small
orchestra differs from
other such attempts in
that for the first time
it presents the work not
in a mixed version, but
rather in the unified
form from 1889. This is
distinguished from the
final version both in
musical terms, as well as
through the fact that it
forgoes the use of
flutes, clarinets and
bassoons, while employing
only two horns instead of
four. With a critical
Report with information
about the source
situation and the
edition, and containing
the individual readings
(alternative readings,
etc.). Since in 1889 the
Offertoire was still
without the choral
section the present
edition contains the
Offertoire of the final
version as appendix. Now
available in carus music,
the choir app. Score and
part available separately
