LASSE GLOBUS
führt junge Musiker
vom Proberaum in die
weite Welt: Durch alle
fünf Kontinente geht
es von Amerika über
Europa nach Japan und
nach Afrika und
schließlich zu den
Kängurus nach
Australien. Als Souvenirs
nehmen die Reisenden
Eindrücke von den
Klangwelten in den
verschiedenen Regionen
mit. Vertraute
Anhaltspunkte sind
bekannte Melodien, die
hier und da durchklingen,
wie zum Beispiel das
bekannte Lied von der
Brücke in Avignon.
Ebenfalls werden, unter
anderem mit einem
Variationensatz, einer
Suite und einem Medley,
diverse Gattungen
gestreift. Die Stücke
bringen nicht nur viel
Abwechslung ins Spiel,
sondern sie sind auch
soarrangiert, dass sie
genau auf die
Lernfortschritte in Band
1 und 2 von Essential
Elements, der
kompletten Methode für
den Musikunterricht in
Schulen und
Blasorchestern, Bezug
nehmen. Die
entsprechenden Kapitel in
Essential Elements
sind im
Inhaltsverzeichnis der
Partitur angegeben. Aber
auch unabhängig von
Essential Elements
bieten die im
ansteigenden
Schwierigkeitsgrad
angeordneten Arrangements
abwechslungsreiches
Spielmaterial für
Bläserklassen und
Jugendblasorchester. Sind
die Stücke im
Unterricht erst einmal
einstudiert, kann ein
buntes, szenisch
ausgestaltetes Konzert
unter dem Motto
Weltreise“
vorbereitet werden. So
gehen Spielspaß,
Lernerfolg,
Erfolgserlebnis und
daraus resultierende

Written for an
icon in the band world,
Favor And Treasure honors
Col. John Bourgeois,
Director Emeritus of the
United States Marine
Band, past president of
the American Bandmasters
Association, president of
the John Philip Sousa
Foundation, American vice
president of the
International Military
Music Society, mentor and
friend. Favor And
Treasure is based on
John's Theme, a bold,
original theme conveying
inspirational imagery of
excellence, artistry and
duty congruous with Col.
Bourgeois' distinguished
career at the helm of the
band to which President
Thomas Jefferson gave the
title The President's
Own. To honor Bourgeois'
affinity for Cajun folk
music, the old Cajun
waltz, J'ai Passe Devant
Ta Porte is also used,
most prominently in the
quasi-zydeco section of
the work. Musicians and
audience members of all
ages will be assuredly
affected by the spirit
and essence of this
extraordinary
composition.

The
Advent cantata Machet die
Tore weit has long been
one of the most
frequently performed of
Telemann's sacred works.
Among the copies of this
cantata which have been
handed down is a copy by
J. S. Bach which bears
testimony to the high
respect he paid to his
then more celebrated
colleague from Hamburg:
It is a copy of the score
in the hand of the
Thomaskantor which was
made for a performance in
Leipzig on Avent Sunday
in 1734 (therefore during
the same period as the
first performance of
Bach's Christmas
Oratorio). Of the four
solo singers the soprano
and bass, each of whom
has an aria, are
indispensable. The brief
alto solos in the opening
chorus can be sung by a
member of the choir, and
the tenor recitative can
be sung by the soprano
soloist. This work is now
available in carus music,

an appropriately

a historico-critical
approach and seeks to
document the history of

Eislers complete oeuvre
(only a limited number of
his works had penetrated
the publics awareness up
until the 1990s) first
became the object of an
editorial undertaking
when the Eisler -
Gesammelte Werke (EGW)
was founded by Nathan
Notowicz. It was later
placed under the
direction of Manfred
Grabs and Eberhardt
Klemm, and began issuing
its publications in 1968
through the intermediary
of the Deutscher Verlag
fur Musik in Leipzig.
However, only four
volumes of music and five
volumes of writings were
published. The Hanns
Eisler Complete Edition
pursues the work begun at
that time, although it
has had to fundamentally
revise its editorial
principles. In this
respect, the Hanns Eisler
Complete Edition can be
considered as a
completely new editorial
undertaking. It became
necessary to reconceive
the organization of the
volumes and series as
well as the editorial
guidelines in order to
adapt the standards of
historico-critical
editing generally
applicable today to the
specific and sometimes
singular circumstances of
Eislers works.The

Zum ersten
Mal wird hier gewagt,
eine Geschichte der
musikalischen Bildung in
einen Zeitrahmen von mehr
als 3.000 Jahren zu
stellen. Damit verbindet
sich der Anspruch, ein
Bild zu zeichnen, das
nicht erst - wie bisher
ublich - um 800 oder gar
erst um 1.800 beginnt.
Denn die
Grundentscheidungen uber
den Bildungsrang der
Musik im europaischen
Abendland sind da langst
gefallen: in den antiken
Hochkulturen und im
Christentum.Musik ist
mehr als Musik - und
Bildung ist mehr als
Padagogik, denn Musik ist
ein unubertroffener
Spiegel der Welt.
Musikalische Weltbilder
haben ganze Nationen,
Geschichtsepochen und
Kulturkreise bis in ihre
politische Gestalt hinein
gepragt: Musik hat
gebildet im
ursprunglichen Sinn des
Wortes. Die Geschichte
der musikalischen Bildung
gibt Antworten auf Fragen
wie:- Welche Rolle
spielen Musik und Bildung
in verschiedenen
Epochen?- Welche Funktion
hat musikalische Bildung
fur den Staat und fur die
Entwicklung der
Personlichkeit?- Wie
geben ein Schamane in
Sibirien, ein Ritter aus
dem hohen Adel und ein
lutherischer Lehrerkantor
musikalisches Wissen
(vermutlich) weiter?- Wie
funktionieren
musikbildende
Institutionen wie die
Schola Cantorum, die
Meistersingerschulen oder
das Thomaskantorat unter
J.S. Bach?- Was denken
Augustinus, Luther,
Comenius, Rousseau,
Goethe, Frobel und Adorno
uber musikalische Bildung
und Praxis?Der Leser wird
zu 40 Stationen unserer
Kultur- und
Bildungsgeschichte
gefuhrt - von der Antike
bis zur
Gegenwart.Ausgezeichnet
mit dem Deutschen
Musikeditionspreis
2006.
