German. Das
kunstlerische Wirken des
Komponisten und
Dirigenten Wilhelm
Furtwangler war ein Leben
lang begleitet von dem
Bemuhen, sich daruber
auch theoretisch
Rechenschaft zu geben.
Zahlreiche Aufzeichnungen
belegen das. So spannt
sich ein weiter Bogen
uber diese Aufsatze und
Vortrage aus den Jahren
1918 bis 1954. Der
Reichtum der Themen, die
Allgemeingultigkeit der
Problemstellung, die
Gedanken und Auffassungen
sind aus der Schule des
Lebens selbst, aus der
unmittelbaren Erfahrung
von Werk und Publikum
erwachsen. Furtwangler
setzt sich in diesen
Arbeiten mit
grundsatzlichen Fragen,
so u.a. der Werktreue,
der Programmgestaltung,
der kunstlerischen
Verantwortung, der
modernen Musik,
auseinander und
entwickelt seine Gedanken
uber Bach, Beethoven,
Brahms, Bruckner, Wagner,

surprisingly placed to
great effect and always
fun. $2.75 - Voir plus => AcheterDélais: 24 hours - In Stock | | |

Language:
German/English. In
1724, Bach composed the
cantata Herr, wie du
willt, so schicks mit mir
[Lord, as you will, do
unto me] BWV 73 for the
third Epiphany Sunday.
Like in some other
cantatas from the first
annual cycle, the opening
movement contains a part
for corno which would in
fact have been unplayable
on an instrument of that
era - probably also a
reason why Bach allocated
this part to the organ in
a repeat performance
(both variants can be
performed using the Carus
edition). The unusual
choral movement,
interrupted by
recitatives, is based
quite substantially on a
short four-note motive
which is introduced by
the horn; at the end of
the chorus, the choir
sings it to the words
Herr, wie du willt [Lord,
as you will] - an avowal
which also quite
substantially
characterizes other
movements of the cantata.

German/English. Wit
h his Schicksalslied
(Song of Destiny),
inspired by a text by
Friedrich Holderlin,
Brahms created a timeless
piece of music with his
personal interpretation
of the idea of destiny.
The work is impressive
both in the concert hall
and in a sacred space.
With the publication of
this arrangement for
chamber orchestra,
smaller choirs now have
the opportunity of
performing this work too.
The scoring (for flute,
oboe, clarinet, horn,
timpani, and strings) is
identical with the
chamber orchestra version
of the German Requiem
(Carus 27.055/50), so
that the two works can
easily be combined in a
concert program. A
trumpet and trombone can
be added ad libitum. The
choral parts match the
original version, so that
the vocal score and
choral score from that
version can be used.
