Par HAYDN FRANZ JOSEF. German/English Urtext Edition, edited A. Oppermann. The oratorio The Creation represents not only a crucial point in Joseph Haydn's compositional output, but at the same time, marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the oratorio. At the turn of the 19th century, Haydn broke with the traditional dominance of the arias, giving the chorus a distinctly greater significance. This opened the way for a new kind of choral oratorio which became one of the standard features of developing bourgeois concert life. The text, translated from the English original by Baron van Swieten, Prefect of the imperial court library in Vienna, combinesprose texts of the creation story in Luther's translation of the Bible with complementary excerpts from John Milton's Paradise Lost. Instrumentation: Soprano solo, Tenor solo, Bass solo, Mixed Choir-SATB, Piano reduction accompaniment/ Répertoire / Solistes (STB), Choeur Mixte (SATB) et Orchestre

Par MOZART WOLFGANG AMADEUS. Requiem K. 626 The Requiem, completed by Franz Xaver Sussmayr, in its traditional form. Mozart's final work, the Requiem K. 626, was left incomplete and it is fraught with questions and emotions: the expressive depth of its music, sorrow at the great composer's early death, truth and legend, fragments and attempts to complete the work. The completion of the fragmentary score by his assistant Franz Xaver Sussmayr, who helped him with The Magic Flute, has the character of a historical source with utmost closeness to Mozart's thoughts. - Urtext of the New Mozart Edition - Full score (BA4538-01), performance material (BA4538), vocal score (BA4538-90) and study score format 22. 5 x 16. 5cm (TP152) available for sale - Facsimile edition BVK2346/ Répertoire / Orchestre

The 'Hallelujah' Chorus, arguably the most famous choral work of the western classical tradition, is the closing number of the second part of Handel's Messiah. Such is the strength of Handel's word setting that this empathic, triumphal paean retains its appeal in spite of the cultural overexposure and controversy to which it has been subjected, remaining a firm favourite with choirs. The premiere of Messiah was in Dublin in 1742 as the high point of a full season of Handel's work. It was a charity event, held in aid of local causes, and in order to get the maximum attendance at Neale's new music hall in Fishamble Street, men were asked to remove their swords, and ladies the hoops in their dresses. The tradition of standing during performances of the 'Hallelujah' Chorus, still indulged at some performances in Britains, is said to have been started by King George II at the work's opening run in London in 1743. / SATB Et Orgue

Op. 106. Par REGER MAX. Max Reger?s setting of Psalm 100 is one of the ?grand style? choral-symphonic works of the classical modern repertoire. Contrapuntal skill in the tradition of Bach combines with overwhelmingly powerful expressiveness, rich in contrasts. The full harmonic and stylistic breadth of the early 20th century sings out, not only in frenetic song, but also in the search for awareness in quieter passages. Reger?s opulence, tonal and contrapuntal almost throughout, finally culminates in a double fugue with an off-stage orchestra similar to the trumpets of Jericho over ?Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott?. The composer?s declared aim was: ?The psalm must go so brilliantly, that all will be simply ?bowled over?.? / Date parution : 2023-03-11/ Répertoire / SATB [Divisi] et Piano

Oratorio in three acts. Par HAENDEL GEORG FRIEDRICH. Saul was given its first performance under Handel's direction at the Haymarket Theatre, London, on 16 January 1739. The original libretto (dated 1738) refers to the work as ; an Oratorio or Sacred Drama. This libretto was written by Charles Jennens (1700& 1770), a wealthy amateur writer from Gopsall, Leicestershire. A letter of 28 July 1735 from Handel to Jennens suggests that a complete raft of the text already existed at that time. Saul occupies an extraordinarily important position in the English oratorio tradition that Handel brought to perfection, standing alongside Israel in Egypt at the end of the first creative period of such works. - Urtext of the Halle Handel Edition - Full score (BA4020) & vocal score (BA402090) available for sale - Performance material (BA402072) available for hire / Oratorio / Répertoire / Choeur Mixte
