Keyboard fireworksAs early as 1743, while Handel was still alive, Francesco Geminiani produced an arrangement of the 'Water Music? for keyboard instruments, thereby making it possible to perform this popular work in domestic surroundings. Then, presumably in 1749, an unknown musician arranged the 'Music for the Royal Fireworks? for transverse flute or violin and harpsichord. In addition to these two contemporary versions, this edition also contains an arrangement by the editor for harpsichord or organ, based on the first edition. Though both early sources explicitly mention a harpsichord, the arrangements can also be performed effectively note-for-note on the organ. As the surviving anonymous version merely places a solo part and a figured bass on a two-stave system, our edition is accompanied by performance material with one part each for transverse flute/oboe/violin and violoncello/double bass, plus a figured bass realisation.- Musical text with arrangements by two Handel contemporaries as well as the editor's own arrangement for harpsichord or organ- All editorial additions are clearly marked- Equally effective when performed note-for-note on the organ / Ensemble Mixte

Canaanite Fantasy No. 3. Par LEEF YINAM. Similiar to its two sister-works, ELEGY looks back to the past and to ancient musical colors and ideals, combining musical ornamentations of nature within contemporary Western modes of expression. The composer accounts that 'the most interesting and attractive challenge for me was to try to relate to the special characteristics of the harpsichord - its rather confined range of dynamics on the one hand, and the great richness of the single tone on the other - and to attempt to formulate a contemporary view towards the historical and stylistic connotations of this instrument. The work combines some typical music structures, such as repetitions and sequential patterns, within ageneral improvisatory feeling, and leads, as the climax resolves, to a short quation from J.S. Bach's 'The Art of Fugue', which gradually disintegrates into the central motif of the work. The title ELEGY invokes a looking backwards, with a sense of longing and maybe even sadness, to a world of sounds that has perhaps lost its glitter, to a past era, but not without a certain hope for its renewal.'/ Répertoire / Clavecin

Par FORQUERAY / TILNEY. This edition of Harpsichord Work by Antoine Forqueray has been reviewed and edited by Colin Tilney. Dedicated to ; Madame la Dauphine (i. e. With different degrees of complexity, these pieces would fit the skills of players with an upper intermediate level and above. Par SIEGEL RICHARD. Richard Siegel won prizes for the Harpsichord and Chamber Music at the Paris Conservatoire before going on the win first prize in the 1977 International Harpsichord Competition. He has since recorded over 30 CDs and his passion for the instrument has been further apparent in his production of Apprendre à Toucher le Clavecin. As stated in the preface, the study of the Harpsichord has long been reserved, frequently dismissed as an 'old-fashioned' instrument. However, a recent rise in the popularity of early music has rekindled interest in the Harpsichord. In Apprendre à Toucher le Clavecin, volume 1 beingthe first of two helpful volumes to aid student's learning and progression, Siegel enables Harpsichord beginners to learn through repertoire pieces themselves, drawn from the Keyboard masters of the Baroque period. The pupil will be guided towards an understanding of technique and style suited to the Harpsichord. Furthermore, Apprendre à Toucher le Clavecin, which is accompanied by a CD, enables adults who learnt the instrument as a child to return to the instrument and have the instant feeling of making music./ Méthode / Clavecin

Par ROYER PANCRACE / CRAWFORD. As a prestigious musician during the early 1700s, Royer 's Harpsichord Pieces remains a favourite in the instrument's repertoire. Joseph Nicolas Pancrace Royer (1705-1755) was born in Turin, however, he moved to Paris in 1925 and soon became responsible for the musical education of King Louis XV's children. Royer is particularly known for his extravagant and virtuosic Harpsichord compositions, as displayed in La Pupitre's compilation of his Harpsichord Pieces. Comprising famous works by the composer, including Suite Bagatelle and March of the Scythes, the collectionexemplifies the composer's skills on the Harpsichord. Royer 's Harpsichord Pieces is essential to the repertoire of aspiring advanced players of the instrument./ Recueil / Clavecin

talian composer, Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757) is well-known for his Keyboard compositions. His 555 Keyboard Sonatas remain ever popular to this day, and it is for this reason that this second volume is indispensable toperformers of the genre. Originally composed for the Harpsichord, Organ or early Pianoforte, the Sonatas display the riveting use of discords and unconventional modulations to remote keys. It is also thought that much ofScarlatti\'s Keyboard music contains influences of Iberian music, considering that he spent much of his working life in the service of the Spanish and Portuguese royal families. The second volume, comprising Sonatas 53-103,includes the popular and recognised Sonatas in F minor (K. 69) and B minor (K. 87). Bearing in mind that Domenico Scarlatti was a highly competent and popular Keyboard player in his day, so much so that he was employed in theservice of two royal families, his Sonatas are composed with much experience, understanding and expertise, creating an essential addition to the repertoire of all Keyboard players of the Baroque genre. / Partitions classique / Piano - instruments à clavier / Clavecin / HEUGEL
