Les Trois Mousquetaires. Par AULIO MAXIME. Les Trois Mousquetaires est une commande de la société Miraphone pour le Miraphone Tuba Quartett et la Musique des Gardiens de la Paix, qui en assurèrent la création à Guebwiller (France), le 28 juin 2003. / Même si l’on n’a jamais lu une seule ligne du roman mythique d’Alexandre Dumas, Les Trois Mousquetaires (1844), on connaît nécessairement le quatuor parfait (avec sa célèbre devise « Tous pour un, un pour tous ») que forment D’Artagnan, Athos, Porthos, et Aramis. Aussi ne compte-t-on plus les nombreuses adaptations du roman, ni les nombreux historiens qui s’intéressent au très réel Charles de Batz de Castelmore d’Artagnan, mort au siège de Maastricht en 1673. Letissu musical des Trois Mousquetaires (The Three Musketeers) s’intéresse davantage aux éléments de la personnalité d’un personnage, qu’au rôle qu’il joue dans l’intrigue. La trame est vivante, on y vit intensément. Maxime Aulio a orienté son choix sur D’Artagnan, le parfait gentilhomme, sensible et romantique, qui se laisse facilement séduire par les femmes, à l'image de la douce Constance Bonacieux dont il s'éprend et de la perfide Milady de Winter dont la beauté l’envoûte. Le premier mouvement - D’Artagnan - est fidèle au caractère du jeune noble provincial venu de Gascogne : enthousiaste et héroïque en toutes circonstances. Le second mouvement - Constance Bonacieux - est galant, prévenant et passionné. Par SPARKE PHILIP. The Four Noble Truths are the most basic expression of the teaching of Buddha and therefore still form the guidelines for Buddhists to this day. The four truths are Dukkha, which describes times of major stress in our lives - birth, aging, desire and death; Samudaya which describes those parts of our life that induce stress, feeling, craving, desire; Nirodha which tells us how to eliminate those aspects of our lives which induce stress and Magga which describes the eight didciplines which can help us eliminate the origins of stress from our lives. It can be seen from these over-simplified definitions, that the Four Noble Truths fall into two pairs, the first two describingthe origins of stress and the second two describing how we can reduce stress. To reflect this, the four movements of this work are also combined into two pairs - two quick movements and two slow movements. Arr. Philip Sparke. Par REGER MAX. During his short lifetime Max Reger (1873-1916) was a prolific composer with many of his best known works being composed for organ. The ten chorale preludes in this selection are from his set of Thirty Short Chorale Preludes Op. 135a composed as short voluntaries for liturgical use rather than for recitals in these arrangements Philip Sparke has kept this in mind and each prelude can be performed with minimal instrumentation for those occasions where a small band is needed. Commissioned in 1994 by the Royal Air Force, 'Scramble!' is a concert overture for symphonic wind band inspired by images of the RAF's airfields during the Battle of Britain, immortalised for ever in such films as 'Reach for the Sky'. The pastoral opening depicts the lull before the storm: the young pilots sitting in wicker chairs outside their barracks on a sunlit morning. The peace is, of course, deceptive, suddenly amid siren sounds, there is a shout of 'Scramble!', and a rush to the waiting planes. In no time at all the squadron is airborne, heading for a skirmish over the English Channel and beyond. A lyrical central section featuring a solo cornet depicts the stillness many pilots described as they flew to engage the enemy, before the battle breaks out once more. For those who returned, it would be only a short while before, once again, they would hear the familiar shout of 'Scramble!'/ Répertoire / Orchestre D'Harmonie

This is achieved by musical themes being rapidly transferred from one musician to another. In this vortex of information and fast business transactions, the sense of individuality threatens to become extinct. At this point, Brosse silences the orchestra (a symbol of society) and draws attention to those peoplewho are less fortunate than most of us.
