His work, both as a musician and as a film composer, has been critically acclaimed worldwide, earning him a BAFTA award for Best Original Score as well as Grammy and Emmy nominations. Over the course of his career, he has released five albums as well as dozens of EPs, collaborations, and various projects. Ólafur\'s live shows are often quite unorthodox for a neo-classical composer and have sold out many of the world\'s most prestigious live venues. Fauré's four 'Valses-Caprices' (1882/83'1894) demonstrate various forms of his treatment of the waltz in combination with the free form of the caprice.'
The composer drew his inspiration for his 'Valses-Caprices' in the first place from works such as Liszt's 'Valse-Impromptu' and his 'Valse à capriccio' and the famous 'Valse-Caprice' by Anton Rubinstein.'

Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco composed 52 Greeting Cards for various instruments between 1953 and 1967, collectively catalogued as opus 170, which he developed in a non-systematic manner up to the year before his death. These pieces were conceived as gifts for his interpreters and students, whom the author meant to gratify with these pleasant little vignettes. Composed between 1953 and 1964, the 18 Greeting Cards for piano (17 for piano solo and 1 for two pianos) represent a point of equilibrium between experimentation and tradition. These six lyrical waltzes are part of a whole series of dances for piano from the quill of the young Offenbach. It is quite likely that their creation was occasioned by various events before they were joined together into a collection for publication. Each piece is dedicated to a particular individual (or 'rose') from amongst the Parisian nobility: A pretty bouquet to which the only twenty-year-old composer was certainly not indifferent. For him, it was surely also a means of attaining a special place in the fashionable salons. / Piano

By spelling his name backwards, the 19th-century pianist and composer Jean Louis Gobbearts created the pseudonym under which he published many of his pieces. These simple and charming pieces with descriptive titles develop various aspects of piano technique including legato and staccato articulation, grace notes, hand crossing, broken chords and melodic voicing. An excellent choice for early-intermediate students.

Heralds of Spring. Par RAFF JOSEPH JOACHIM. Joachim Raff?s 12 piano pieces Frühlingsboten op. 55, originating in 1852/53, mark a new creative start in his compositional oeuvre, in which the composer left behind his previously written and published piano works. The title of the work, translated as ?Heralds of Spring,? is multilayered: It refers not only to spring in nature as expressed in the headings of the first two pieces, ? Winterruhe [Hibernation]? and ? Frühlingsnahen [Spring?s Approach],? but the words ?Heralds of Spring? also indicate love?s spring, the blossoming of love for his future wife, the actress Doris Genast. This appears in the headings of the pieces as of no. 3, sketching the path of an imaginary couple approaching union via various annoyances. And ultimately, Raff saw in his new piano work the ?harbingers? of his future works, created under ?happy circumstances.? In Frühlingsboten Raff repeatedly demonstrates his ability to adapt idioms and compositional techniques from works by Liszt, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Schumann, and others.
