Par MOZART WOLFGANG AMADEUS. Composed at the end of 1785, Mozart ’s Piano Concerto in E-flat major forms a group of three with the two famous concerti in A major K. 488 and in C minor K. 491, which he completed in March of the following year. What they all have in common is Mozart ’s inclusion of Clarinets in the Orchestra for the first time. In this he succeeded to particularly impressive effect with the lyrical passages in the slow sections of the E-flat-major concerto, which was well received by the audience at the first performance. Indeed, his father, Leopold, reports in a letter that Mozart “had to repeat” the Andante immediately. G. Henle Publishers is issuing this concerto, undeservedly overshadowed by its famous siblings, in a handy study edition in full score; a Piano reduction is in preparation./ Répertoire / Piano

Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. Urtext edition reflecting the latest musicological research. With many corrections in the solo part and Orchestral parts. Piano reduction for 2 Pianos with a separate solo Piano part. A must for Pianists,Orchestras and Beethoven scholars. Beethoven?s Piano Concerto No.3 is the only concerto where no authentic manuscript exists for the solo part. The autograph of the score is available whereby the articulation, dynamics and pedal markings are for the most part absent. However, Beethoven oversaw the first printed edition of the solo part (1804) with great diligence. Plate corrections bear witness to the care with whichBeethovenplaced slurs and pedal markings in order to be consistent and unambiguous. By means of a thorough examination of the sources this new Urtext edition presents many corrections in terms of articulation, dynamics andnotes. In particular, the orchestral parts have been corrected for the first time since Beethoven?s lifetime. / Date parution : 2022-02-26/ Répertoire / 2 Pianos

Dvorák, Antonín Concerto for Piano and Orchestra G minor op. 33 B 63 - New Urtext edition of Dvorák's only piano concerto - Commentary on performance practice by Czech pianist Ivo Kahánek (Eng/Cz/Ger) - Piano reduction by Karel 'olc adapted to fit this new edition Edition no. BA 10420-90 ISMN 9790260108394 Composed in 1876, Dvorák's only piano concerto has been overshadowed by his other two concertos, for violin and violoncello, respectively. Performers and editors have often attempted to upgrade this pianistically unassuming work by adding stylisations of their own. Our Urtext edition revaluates the sources, frees the work from subsequent interventions and presents it to full advantage in its authentic form. The principal source of our new edition is the first complete print issued by the publisher Hainauer in 1883, which has been meticulously collated with the autograph. The anonymous original piano reduction is so full of mistakes that editor Robbert van Steijn decided instead to present the version by Karel 'olc.

Up till now, no edition was based exclusively on the authentic sources. Previous publications tended to rely on earlier editions, such as the old Beethoven Complete Edition which in turn also did not take exclusively authentic sources into account. Jonathan Del Mar's scholarly-critical edition corrects misreadings of Beethoven's autograph which were already present in the first edition and had subsequently been incorporated into other editions of this work. New findings in Beethoven?s first piano concerto The Bärenreiter editor and Beethoven expert Jonathan Del Mar who has received international acclaim for his highly successful editions of Beethoven?s works now turns his focus on the piano concertos. In the Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major op. 15, Del Mar has found no less than 17 corrections in Beethoven?s autograph which were made after the work was published. These have been brought to light in this new Bärenreiter edition. A detailed critical commentary documents all the sources and findings made by the editor. piano reduction for 2 pianos. Par SHCHEDRIN RODION. Shchedrin, son of a composer and music teacher, underwent a thorough musical training in Moscow. His versatility and dazzling competence across a wide variety of musical genres are surely a result of his studies. The composer is also an exceptional pianist and frequently performs his own piano works (concertos, sonatas, 24 preludes and fugues, etc.) on the concert platform. While employing a variety of modern compositional techniques he has, nevertheless, succeeded in uniting traditional and contemporary forms. His work is suffused with his love for Russian folkmusic, poetry and literature, yet it is not just relevant in his homeland but speaks to a wider audience. His more recent works too, are characterized by this fusion of a deep Slavic sensitivity with outstanding virtuosity./ Répertoire / 2 Pianos

Beethoven, Ludwig van Concerto for Pianoforte and Orchestra no. 5 E-flat major op. 73 Beethoven's fifth and final piano concerto is at the same time the culmination of his efforts in this genre and a reflection of all his artistic skill and expertise. The surviving manuscripts provide a clear insight into his working methods and his intentions regarding the work's performance. The editor, Jonathan Del Mar, has closely scrutinised the autograph solo piano part and reproduced Beethoven's sophisticated performance instructions for the first time in a modern edition. Among other things, this has special repercussions for the left-hand figured bass line of the piano part during the tutti passages. As with the Piano Concertos Nos. 1 to 4, the piano reduction appears with a separate solo part containing all the information needed by the soloist to conduct the ensemble from the piano. ' Many wholly new corrections in the solo and orchestral parts ' Piano reduction with a separate solo part, as was customary in Beethoven's day ' With Beethoven's continuo figures for the first time in a modern edition Edition no.: BA 9025-90 ISMN: 9790006559091 Editor: Del Mar, Jonathan Arranger: Schelhaas, Martin Product format: Piano reduction, Part(s), Urtext edition Includes the following individual parts: Piano, Piano Binding: Paperback Pages / Format: 67/49 S. - 31,0 x 24,3 cm

Edward Elgar's The Dream Of Gerontius is a splendid oratorio for Mezzo-soprano, Tenor and Bass with Chorus and Orchestra. It is based on the epic poem, The Dream of Gerontius by John Henry Newman written in 1865. The original vocal score of Gerontius was actually printed before Elgar's had even finalised or completed his final orchestration and as such it was printed without many of the markings that were added in the later full score. This new edition brings vocal and full scores into agreement for the first time having been authentically and effectively edited by Hywel Davies and Bruce Wood, and also includes helpful notes on the background to the work as well as an outline of the editorial procedure and list of sources. This New Novello Choral Edition of the Vocal score with Piano reduction of the orchestral materialincludes a detailed foreword listing history, sources and editorial proceedure. / Chant Et Piano

(+)
Carl Maria von Weber's fame rests mainly on ?Der Freischütz'. The unprecedented success of this opera overshadowed all his other works and contributed to their increasing fall into oblivion. Certain works such as ?Preciosa', ?Oberon', and ?Euryanthe', the overtures, solo concertos and piano sonatas, the lieder and chamber works enjoyed great popularity and were widely known in Germany and abroad as late as the second half of the 19th century. However, any chance of a revival of Weber's influential and substantial oeuvre was wasted in the 1920s, when a complete edition - begun by Hans Joachim Moser and with potential contributors including Wilhelm Kempff, Hans Pfitzner, Max von Schillings, Fritz Stein and Richard Strauss - failed after the third volume.Ever since there have been numerous attempts to restart a complete edition of Weber's works, but as this kind of project would have required the co-operation of scholars from both sides of the inter-German border, the political situation after 1945 was not conducive to any such enterprise. Careful negotiations led to the first tangible steps in the 1980s. The intention, right from the beginning, was to place Weber's work in context, and not to separate his musical output from his influential work as a writer, critic and organiser in the musical field, but to publish his compositions together with his letters, diaries and other literary output as the best way to document the cross-fertilisation between his musical, literary and practical activities.Since the German re-unification both working-parties concerned - at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, and at the Musikwissenschaftliches Seminar, Detmold/Paderborn - have co-operated on the complete edition of the musical works (c. 45 volumes in 10 series: sacred music - cantatas, odes and other occasional works - stage works - lieder and vocal works - orchestral works - chamber music - music for piano - piano reductions - miscellanea, arrangements and orchestrations - works of doubtful attribution). The diaries (6-8 vols.) are edited in Berlin and the letters (8-10 vols.) and other writings (2 vols.) in Detmold. This complete edition aims to be a reliable basis of scholarly debate as well as for the authentic performance practice of Carl Maria von Weber's music. Conforming to the standards of recent historico-critical editions, the textual material will be based on all available authentic sources, accompanied by a detailed documentation of the genesis and a list of variants for each work. The musicological importance of the works will be evaluated by placing them in their historical context, the presentation of their genesis, history and Critical Commentaries. The letters, writings and diaries will be treated as inter-related and relevant to each other in the commentaries, therefore readers should benefit from a wealth of concise information and cross-references. / Piano

For The Left Het For Piano et Orchestra. Par RAVEL MAURICE. In 1929 Paul Wittgenstein, a pianist and war veteran who lost his right arm in the Great War, commissioned Maurice Ravel to write a concerto for him to perform. The result was one of Ravel's most thrilling compositions and, for Wittgenstein, the most important of the many works he commissioned over the course of his career. This scholarly-critical edition of Ravel's Concerto for the Left Hand is based on previously inaccessible and unknown sources. The editor, Douglas Woodfull-Harris, was able to consult manuscripts in the private library of the Paul Wittgenstein Estate which allowed him to retrace the work's evolution from Ravel's autograph working copy to the first printededition. The piano reduction in our edition contains both Ravel's and Wittgenstein's fingerings. Also included is a solo part without fingering, thereby giving pianists the opportunity to enter their own fingering after having studied those of Ravel and Wittgenstein. The editor, Douglas Woodfull-Harris, was able to consult manuscripts in the private library of the Paul Wittgenstein Estate which allowed him to retrace thework's evolution from Ravel 's autograph working copy to the first printed edition. A source of key importance to our new edition is a handwritten French copy of Ravel 's own Piano reduction (the autograph is inaccessible) that he gave to Wittgenstein to facilitate rehearsing the work. This copy is the sole source reflecting Wittgenstein's own interpretation and containing his changes to the final cadenza. It also helps us to understand omissions in the first edition of the score as well as the Piano reduction, and enabled the editor, amongst other things, to correct a great many notes which could be found in previous editions, including the solo Piano part. Beethoven's fifth and final piano concerto is at the same time the culmination of his efforts in this genre and a reflection of all his artistic skill and expertise. 1 to 4, the piano reduction appears with a separate solo part containing all the information needed by the soloist to conduct the ensemble from the piano.- Many wholly new corrections in the solo and orchestral parts- Piano reduction with a separate solo part, as was customary in Beethoven's day- With Beethoven's continuo figures for the first time in a modern edition / Piano

In 1929 Paul Wittgenstein, a pianist and war veteran who lost his right arm in the Great War, commissioned Maurice Ravel to write a concerto for him to perform. The result was one of Ravel?s most thrilling compositions and, for Wittgenstein, the most important of the many works he commissioned over the course of his career. The piano reduction in our edition contains both Ravel?s and Wittgenstein?s fingering. Also included is a solo part without fingering, thereby giving pianists the opportunity to enter their own fingering after having studied those of Ravel and Wittgenstein.

These vocal scores (BA9181, BA9182, BA9183) of Mozart?s concert and insert arias are based on the ?New Mozart Edition? (NMA). The first three volumes comprise all arias for soprano and orchestra. They are classified according to voice type (high soprano, soprano, low soprano and alto) and arranged chronologically within the volumes.
Unlike the NMA the musical text presented in these editions is free from practical references on performance aspects or suggestions on performance practice. Instead, each volume contains a accompanying brochure, with detailed explanations on the execution of appoggiaturas and other performance practice phenomena which are relevant to every aria. In addition, there is a choice of suggestions for the performance of cadenzas and lead-ins as well as a suggestion for the ornamentation of dal segno parts, which are often found in the early Mozart arias.
? Arrangement of arias according to voice type
? Underlaid text presented in the original language only
? All aria texts are translated into German and English and are printed seperately
? Idiomatic piano reductions to the individual arias
? Clear and legible layout of the musical text as all additional notes and suggestions on performance practice appear in the supplement published with each volume
? Performance material on hire to each aria
(Please refer to the relevant volume for further information)

Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. After attending the premiere of Beethoven?s stately concerto for violin and orchestra Muzio Clementi approached the composer and requested the work in a transcription for piano and orchestra; his wish was fulfilled in 1807 providing us with not just an alternative version of the composition but also one with authentic cadenzas which Beethoven had not written for the Violin Concerto! This version has waited a long time to be properly edited after the existing sources and the famed Beethoven scholar Jonathan Del Mar has done just that! Working with all known sources, Del Mar finally presents us with Beethoven?s solo piano articulation and dynamics and Beethoven?s cadenzas. And, for the first time we now have clarity regarding the meaning of Beethoven?s Solo and Tutti markings. All in all, a groundbreaking scholarly critical edition; a ?must? for every pianist, every orchestra and every music library. The piano reduction will be presented in a new format: As customary in the 19 th century there will be a solo piano part containing tutti passages, cues and the piano solo. This part will be inserted ? as with string and wind concertos ? in the piano reduction. This affords the soloist sensible page turns and offers the possibility to lead the ensemble from the piano. The piano reduction will include the reduction of the orchestral score as well as the solo piano part above it in small print. / Date parution : 2022-02-25/ Répertoire / Piano

For Pianoforte And Orchestra. Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. The autograph to Beethoven's Piano Concerto #4 is lost. For every new edition which has appeared during the course of time there have been only two authentic sources to draw upon- the copyist's manuscript of the score with Beethoven's own corrections and the first edition in parts from 1808 which was published in Vienna and which contains a few revisions dated after the aforementioned manuscript. Though no new sources have been available for this new edition, numerous editorial emendations which have prevailed in all previous editions (even Urtext editions) have now been corrected. Thus, this new Bärenreiter Urtext edition presents Beethoven's famous work in the clarity which it deserves. - With numerous corrections - Piano reduction with a separate solo piano part/ Répertoire / Piano et Orchestre

Following Dittersdorf (HN 759) and Hoffmeister (HN 721), Johann Baptist Vanhal and his sole double-bass concerto add a further highlight to the classical bass literature in our catalogue. The virtuoso work was transmitted only in a copy of a part owned by the famous double-bass player Johannes Sperger (1750-1812) and found in his estate, which raises a few questions on account of the many later additions in the solo part (especially concerning the octave transpositions). In our Urtext edition, Tobias Glöckler proposes a solution to this dilemma with a musical text that is outstandingly well-prepared for the performing artist. The piano reduction is printed in two keys (C and D major), which allows for performances in the solo and orchestral tuning or, at will. Moreover an additional part, written in fingering notation, has been specially designed for use with the 'Viennese tuning' customary in Vanhal's days. It allows players to use this resonant historical tuning immediately without tedious retraining. / Contrebasse Et Piano / Chanson En Séparée

Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. Bach ’s Harpsichord concerti, extremely popular among pianists, are presumably reworkings of pieces originally written for the Violin. Bach, however, succeeded in transferring the diverse idiosyncrasies of Violin technique to the keyboard with such ingenuity that most of today’s pianists also include these concerti in their standard repertoire. The first concerto in d minor is perhaps the most popular – not least because of its jaunty outer movements and the eminently forceful solo part. Now, as a prelude to a series of all of Bach ’s Harpsichord concerti, G. Henle Publishers presents a Piano reduction and study edition(score) of the d-minor concerto. None other than András Schiff, the outstanding Bach expert, has provided fingering suggestions. / Müllemann, Norbert / Répertoire / 2 Pianos, 4 Mains

Although the sources to Beethoven's piano concerto op. 19 are generally known, many misconceptions and misinterpretations are put right in this Bärenreiter Urtext edition. Up till now, no edition was based exclusively on the authentic sources. Previous publications tended to rely on earlier editions, such as the old Beethoven Complete Edition which in turn also did not take exclusively authentic sources into account.'
Jonathan Del Mar's scholarly-critical edition corrects misreadings of Beethoven's autograph which were already present in the first edition and had subsequently been incorporated into other editions of this work.'
