SEVEN DAYS WALKING est le titre du nouvel album de Ludovico Einaudi, sorti le 15 mars 2019, trois ans et demi après \'Elements\' et une tournée mondiale triomphale. Bien que l\'instrumentation sur l\'album est pour piano, violon, alto et violoncelle, les recueils correspondants ont été arrangés pour piano solo. SEVEN DAYS WALKING est divisé en sept épisodes, sept jours (Day One, Day Two, etc. jusqu\'au Day Seven). Cette première édition contient la musique de \'Day One\', du premier jour. Chaque mois, une nouvelle partition sera éditée (jour deux, jour trois'). Chacun des sept épisodes de SEVEN DAYS WALKING reprend divers thèmes récurrents de manière très différente: sept variations qui suivent un même chemin imaginaire. Einaudi raconte que l\'inspiration pour l\'ensemble du projet lui était venue lors de promenades hivernales dans les montagnes: \'En janvier de l\'année dernière, je faisais souvent de longues promenades dans les montagnes en suivant plus ou moins le même chemin. Un jour il neigeait abondamment et j\'ai laissé libre cours à mon esprit dans cette tempête dans laquelle tous les contours, mis à nu par le froid, perdaient leurs contours et leurs couleurs. C\'était peut-être ce sentiment d\'extrême originalité qui a initié cet album. \' Le premier chapitre, le premier jour, regroupe déjà tous les thèmes principaux qui, de suite, réapparaissent sous différentes formes dans les chapitres suivants - sept variations qui suivent le même itinéraire imaginaire. He obtained his Master's Degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, where he took lessons in harmony, counterpoint and fugue with Peter Thomas, in 2004 and in 2007 his Master's Degree in Composition where he was tutored by Luc Van Hove and Wim Henderickx. He graduated a Master of the Performing Arts (Piano) at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent in 2014 under the auspices of Johan Duijck. He received additional piano instruction at the hands of maestros Jonathan Powell, Eliane Rodrigues and Irene Russo. Currently he teaches courses in harmony, composition, solo piano andaccompaniment at the municipal academies for Music and Drama in Deurne and Wilrijk (Antwerp). He resides in Southern France and was for many years an author for the music encyclopaedia MGG, writing on French music.

Steffen Schleiermacher
studied as ?Meisterschüler? at the ?Berliner Akademie der Künste? and in the class of Aloys Kontarsky at the ?Musikhochschule Köln?. He runs the concert series musica nova at the ?Gewandhaus Leipzig?, was a founder of the Ensemble Avantgarde and gives concerts and lectures as a composer, pianist and conductor throughout Europe, the USA, South America and Asia. He has been the recipient of scholarships (including the Villa Massimo Rome) and numerous recording prizes, and is ?Chevalier des Arts et Lettres?. Par MANTOVANI BRUNO. Le Livre de Jeb ne fait pas directement référence à l'Ancien Testament, comme son titre pourrait le laisser imaginer ! Il est un portrait de son dédicataire, le pianiste Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, dont les initiales sont à la base du jeu de mots faisant référence à la figure mythique de la région de l'Euphrate. La longue complicité qui me lie à ce merveilleux virtuose est à la fois musicale et amicale. Ce sont d'ailleurs ces deux aspects de notre relation qui nourrissent ici mon inspiration : sur le plan musical, de nombreux éléments m'ont été suggérés par quelques caractéristiques du jeu de Jean-Efflam. Son passé de percussionniste est notamment présent ici dans une section centrale où l'alternance entre les deux mains permet de faire émerger des figures rythmiques complexes. A l'opposé, sa merveilleuse sonorité perlée qu'il met notamment au service de Debussy m'a donné envie de jouer à plusieurs reprises sur des textures aigues, très vivaces et aériennes. Mais l'influence exercée par Jean-Efflam sur l'écriture de la partition est aussi liée à notre amitié et au chemin que nous parcourons ensemble depuis quelques années. Lors d'un concert où il jouait mon quintette avec piano Blue girl with red wagon, mon camarade me disait combien son épouse Andrea et lui-même étaient passionnés par un accord qui était énoncé dans les premières mesures de cette oeuvre. En souvenir de cette réaction émotionnelle forte, j'ai décidé de réutiliser cet accord dans le début du Livre de Jeb, accord qui aura une fonction formelle importante puisqu'il sera récurrent dans l'oeuvre. La matière musicale n'est aucunement abstraite ici, les différentes problématiques musicales étant toutes au service de cet hommage à un grand pianiste de notre temps, et à un ami fidèle et généreux.
