Diesen inneren und sehr persönlichen Ausschwingvorgang (Decay) Mozart’scher Musik, der sich wie von selbst einstellt, wenn man die Musik – und zwar immer nur Phrasen davon, niemals ganze Werke – nicht mehr aus dem Kopf bringt, habe ich als Anstoß zur Komposition genommen. Und so wie sich im Laufe von Tagen ein „Nachklang“ ergeben hat, hat sich auch ein „Einschwingvorgang“ (Attack) herausgebildet. Thanks to new developments in silicon processing, these 'motes' are no larger than a sand grain even though they are provided with sensors, circuits, wireless communications and a power supply. They collect enormous amounts of data, perform calculations and are able to exchange such information even over distances of 300 metres. Today, one is developing commercial application possibilities, such as for the search for manufacturing defects or for the care of patients, but of course this 'Smart Dust', this barely visible intelligent dust, is particularly suited to spy on people and detect movements of the enemy in the case of war. Perhaps, one day, we will get rid of a potential observer when rubbing a sand grain from our eyes. They are tiny cells which are able to communicate with each other, build up a network among themselves, observe the environment and, above all, they can be blown through open windows into rooms without being noticed. The music too is about similar tiny cells, about strange sounds of a sound-reduced piano, 'simple circuits', i.e. basic information which are retransmitted, musical motifs from the everyday urban environment which then have to be aligned with each other and processed in a control centre, in the head of the listener. Omnipresent, dangerous elements. The motor energy (the power from the battery) decreases in the course of the little pieces, the flow of information slows down. The piano is deprepared during its course, the elements become more readable and audible. A broad stylistic expanse is traversed in a very brief space, as if a 'smart dust transmitter' lands on the turban of a muezzin and the next one a hundred metres farther in a discothèque. Par NUORVALA JUHANI. Juhani Nuorvala (b. 1961) wrote The Five Chords That Shook My World (2020) for pianist Nicolas Horvath's Hommage à Glass project and it is dedicated to him. It's a fantasy meditation on the Train/Spaceship chords in Einstein, that repeating five-chord progression (Fm - Db - A - B7 - E) about which the composer has said that there's something strange, because it never fails to lift the audience to its feet. The duration of the piece is c. 6'30'', and it was premiered by Emil Holmström at RUSK festival (Pietarsaari, Finland) 20th November 2020. A notable variety of influences - microtonality, American minimalism, New Romanticism, popular music, techno - has been regarded as a special feature of Nuorvala's idiom. Despite this he is not a collage artist; instead he has blended various ingredients to create a mode of expression entirely his own. Nuorvala's works are often marked with frenzied rhythmic drive. He makes music using elements and materials that both the mind and the body respond to. He finds these elements not only in old or new classical music but in various forms of urban popular music, such as the electronic music of modern dance clubs./ Répertoire / Piano

The Dogs and Birds approach, allows very young children to learn the piano, even before they know the alphabet. The music is suitable for children between the ages of 3 and 7. The method uses animal symbols to represent the musical notes, for example Cat is C and Dog is D. The animal names are monosyllabic and children are encouraged to sing the names as they play the tunes on the piano or keyboard. These notes to Book 1 are useful for both parents and teachers, and by using them parents can teach their children the material in book 1. The book gives a detailed description of the basic elements of the Dogs and Birds approach including many musical exercises and games, and the use of the tiles and staves, expanding on the information given at the end of the first tutor book. It includes a set of lesson plans which take students through book 1, incorporating the basic elements, which include rhythm exercises, sung finger exercises, sight-singing, sight-reading, singing and listening games using a set of small animal tiles and a set of coloured staves, improvisation, composition and telling stories about the illustrations. These notes also contain helpful tips for teaching very young children (4 years old and under). It explains all the musical notation necessary for working through the first tutor book, thereby enabling parents without any prior musical knowledge to teach their children the material in book 1. Working through this material can provide a good parent child bonding opportunity, and this provides the child a firm musical foundation for the study of any instrument, including the piano.
