The composition represents an apparently contradictory quality and colour, since the colour enunciated in the title of the work does not have lightness as an essential component of its chromatic nature. In the course of this work, very light arpeggios are traversed where the melody of the upper voice appears fragmented while the performer completes the rest of the notes harmonically associated with this melody. This fragmentation, far from cutting the singing line, gives this melody a special way of being. For composer Thomas Daniel Schlee, the 'intimate sound possibilities of the string quartet” have the potential 'to formulate an, albeit 'only' individual, solution to the somewhat forlorn condition of new art music within society that we are unfortunately experiencing today.” Schlee's Fourth String Quartet opens with a pure C major sound, out of which he develops a harmonically free band of voices: 'The pure as a source, not pleasing”! After a melodically dominating episode and a continuation of the 'swinging tone-motion from the beginning”, a thematically solidified section follows. It is met by a second, more extensive melodic episode, followed by a 'nightly scene”. Fauré's 2nd Violin Sonata was written in 1916 in Evian and Paris, the first in a series of chamber music works. It is thus one of Faure's late works, characterised by austerity, introspection and the intensity of its expression. It is hard to imagine a greater contrast to the brilliant and ornamental style of the virtuosic 1st Violin Sonata (HN 980), published 40 years earlier. Für Violine, Klarinette Und Klavier. Par GERNOT WOLFGANG. Green Island ist dem Andenken des stilbildenden, 2007 verstorbenen Jazzsaxophonisten Michael Brecker gewidmet. In diesem Satz leben auch Erinnerungen an zwei Reisen nach Irland auf, die tiefe Eindrücke in mir hinterließen. Die diesbezüglichen musikalischen Bezüge können am deutlichsten in den Präsentationen des Hauptthemas am Anfang und Ende des Satzes erkannt werden. Die bildliche Vorstellung einer vom Mond beleuchteten Veranda irgendwo in den Südstaaten war die Inspiration für 'Night Breeze'. Eine sanfte, warme Brise raschelt in den Bäumen und begleitet den Dialog Violine /Klarinette, unvermutet pausiert der Wind... und beginnt wieder. Die Anregung für 'Chromatic Train' war die Visualisierung einer von einer Dampflokomotive gezogenen Eisenbahngarnitur. Der Zug verlässt langsam den Bahnhof. Wir werden Zeugen einer lebhaften Konversation zweier Passagiere (Vl./Kl.) Harmonisch gesehen werden hier alle zwölf Töne der chromatischen Skala verwendet. Der Zug erhöht das Tempo...
