Par REGER MAX. Les deux trios à cordes de Max Reger font partie, côté du « divertimento » en mi bémol majeur K. 563 de Mozart et des trio à cordes op. 9 de Beethoven, des oeuvres majeures du genre. Tant pour le style que pour l‘ambition, Reger se réfère ici ces grands maîtres de la musique classique qu'il vénérait tant. Les deux trios portent l'empreinte du classique- ils plaisent de par leur caractère détendu, parfois même enjoué. Rien d‘étonnant que leur création (1904 et 1915) ait remporté un tel succès. Michael Kube, spécialiste de Reger, a réalisé cette édition sur la base de l'autographe et de la première édition. Fragments K. 442. Par MOZART WOLFGANG AMADEUS. Mozart often began work on a composition only to put it aside, unfinished. Some of these fragments contain wonderful music, as is proved by these three Piano trio fragments. Mozart composed them at different times as individual movements, though the posthumous first edition brought them together as a supposedly new and unknown Piano trio by the composer, and on this basis they were given the number “442” in Köchel’s catalogue. The first edition used completions by Mozart ’s friend Abbé Maximilian Stadler that were stylistically correct but possessed little originality. After an early work and a discontinued attempt in 1831/32 Mendelssohn made his breakthrough in this important chamber music genre in the summer of 1839 with the Piano Trio in d minor op. 49, which was to be followed six years later by the Trio in c minor op. 66. On publication of the first trio, Schumann took the opportunity to describe the composer as the 'Mozart of the 19th century”, whereby he was obviously alluding to the mixture of Classical and Romantic stylistic elements.The musical text of these two famous Trios has been thoroughly revised to reflect the latest scholarly findings. Nicolò Paganini?s trios for strings and guitar make up a small but significant group of pieces consisting of five works of different lengths, formal structure and difficulty: the Serenata in F major M.S. 115, the Terzetto in A minor M.S. 116, the Serenata in C major M.S. 17, the Terzetto concertante in D major M.S. 114, and the Terzetto in D major M.S. 69. Within this group, the Terzetto M.S. 116 and the Serenata M.S. 116 make up a small diptych for two violins and guitar that can be traced back to Paganini?s juvenile period (1796-1804). In addition to using the same musical formation, the two pieces also share some compositional features, regarding general formal characteristics as well as the order and the number of movements. Par PURCELL HENRY. This delightful string trio is straightforward technically, and will be fun to play for student and amateur alike. The ?Sonatas of III Parts by Henry Purcell? were first published in 1683. A facsimile of the first edition was published in 1975. This arrangement follows the facsimile faithfully, simply writing out the first violin and cello parts of the trio sonata, with the second violin part transposed down an octave in places to suit the viola. This edition follows Purcell's original text without the dynamics and bowing that later editors added.
