La comédie ' Le Beau marié ou l'Impertinent curieux ' par John Crowne est basé sur un épisode de la première partie du roman de Miguel Cervantes ' Don Quichotte '. Musique pour le théâtre de Purcell se compose de neuf mouvements. Trois mouvements, l'Air, l'Air de la trompette et mars, sont basés sur les arpèges de la triade (fanfares suite à la musique pour cuivres). Purcell montre les multiples possibilités offertes par ce matériel simple.
