The Children's and Female Choruses were composed in a single burst of creative activity at the zenith of Bartók's career, in the summer of 1935, between such masterpieces as the String Quartet #5 and the Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta. These short choral pieces are based on folk texts that Bartók further polished and stylized. The music, however, is wholly the composer's own, although it frequently includes motifs, rhythmic formulas and line structures reminiscent of Hungarian folk songs. Both editions contain nine of the two-part pieces of the set, transcribed idiomatically but faithfully for descant and treble recorders, respectively. / Flûte A Bec Soprano

Arr.Collatti Diego. Par GARDEL CARLOS. The name of Carlos Gardel is synonymous with the Tango - his compositions in the genre have long been considered classics. Universal Edition's popular series of arrangements by Diego Collatti is expanded by this new edition for two recorders, expertly edited by the Austrian virtuoso, Thomas List. They can be played on two alto recorders, or alto and tenor, and are for intermediate to advanced players. Recorders might seem an unlikely voicing for this music but, on the contrary, Collatti believes they are exceptionally well suited to reflecting the glamour and fascination of the tango. Indeed, they could evoke the sound of the South American panpipes, not too far removed from the Argentinean heritage of the tango. Par . Both volumes of Easier Together - Recorders contain short and easy duos that can be performed by beginners either with their teachers or with more advanced learners. The pieces progress gradually from easier ones to more difficult works. This collection of recorder duos can also, with some supplementary material, be used as a recorder method. In these volumes, the musical experience of two-part playing is further enriched by the use of different recorder types: where indicated, the lower part can be played not only on soprano recorder but also on alto, tenor, or even sopranino recorder. Some pieces include harmonic indications, so an accompaniment can be improvised alongside the two recorder parts. The process of learning and practising is additionally supported by a fingering chart and articulation marks for tonguing, with new musical elements highlighted in the score. Trombone and recorder teacher Péter Perényi (b. 1954) was for many years the head of the wind department at the Bence Szabolcsi Music School in Budapest. He has held several training courses for recorder teachers, and the recorder gatherings he organised in Budapest gave rise to the National László Czidra Recorder Competition.
